Got my ticket(3, actually)...

Dear Stephen,

On Saturday, April 16 at 10:00 am, John Kerry will visit Austin, TX on his national tour to highlight the crisis facing America on children's health care and promote his Kids First bill to provide health care coverage to the 11 million children currently uninsured in America. Kerry will join with health care leaders and members of the Kids First coalition at a town hall meeting to discuss children's health care and his Kids First bill. John Kerry is coming to Austin to hear from people who are living without health care for their families every day and to talk about how we can join together to help cover Texas' kids.

We're emailing you today to invite you and your family to join John Kerry at this event on Saturday. Because space is limited, please click here for more details and to reserve your tickets today. Tickets are free, and you can reserve up to 4 seats. Tickets are required for admission.

As you know, John Kerry has been talking directly with Americans about the issue and asking them to join him in calling for action. In response, more than 500,000 people have signed a petition in support of Kids First urging the Senate to act on the legislation, and nearly 20,000 people across the country have called with powerful, personal stories.

A diverse coalition of leading health care, children's and labor organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Association of Children's Hospitals, Families USA, Every Child Matters, the AFL-CIO and the March of Dimes with memberships totaling 17 million Americans, have endorsed the bill and are standing with John Kerry in this fight.

So please join us in Austin on Saturday, April 16th at 10:00 am as we begin the fight from the states for children's health care coverage for every American child.

Thank you,

Friends of John Kerry

I just can't get into John Kerry...He made some good points during his campaign, but I just couldn't back him at all. He's too much of a political robot.

I attended UTA a couple years ago, itd be interesting to head back there to see him speak. Im in Garland right now so that would be alot of gas money.

I have to say hes a little late to the party, he never showed his face in Texas throughout his entire campaign and now hes speaking at UT?

I think he saw Texas as a lost cause on the campaign trail but he still got 38% of our vote. :/

I like the guy, but health care isn't really one of the points I agree with Democrats on. It'd be cool to meet him though.

Edwards went to the Big D a few times.. mostly for donations from trial lawyers, but he was there.

Yeah, I just RSVP'd some tickets, see if I can get some people to go with me. Though, most of my friends didnt vote for him :(

I wonder if he will make his continued less than vague innuendo that the election was rigged.

At least he isnt as stiff as Al Gore, just twice as aloof. It reminds me of the time I went to see Ralph Nader speak and was struck by how absolutely toasted (in more ways than one) all of his supporters were.

I would be interested in seeing T. Heinz speak. I love ketchup and that bitch is wacky. :)

Please explain. John Kerry may not be perfect, but I saw him as a potential leader who cared about his objectives, cared about the people, and had the balls to say "this isn't right here" even IF he once thought otherwise. Republicans called it "flip-flopping." I called it "progressive thinking." Things change, things sometimes don't work. There are some times where you can say "well, we have to stick with what we're doing," and there are some times when you can't. Kerry clearly knew Bush was not approaching his mistakes correctly.

Well, that was interesting. The reason it was in the rec center was because they wanted it town hall style and everything. Pretty informative on the Kids First thing. He also touched on energy independence, and said thats a way to get more funding for research. He attacked Delay on his moral viewpoints. The only thing that kind of split the audience was the last question about illegal immigrants and the kids first thing. I enjoyed myself, got an autograph, a picture, and a handshake. Well worth waking up at 8:30 after a night of heavy drinking...

Excuse the crappy quality:

Awesome. <3, but yeah the gay marriage thing sucked. But he was an early opponent of the anti-gay marriage laws which counts for something I guess.

I just have one question I want to ask him.

No polotician is completly clean. All are beholden to special interests. However, there's plenty smart ones. I wouldn't mine learning a thing or two from them.

Haha, nice close up pic. I fully symphathize with the "well worth waking up" part, as I had to wake up at 630 after a night at Oyster Bake in San Antonio. I'm very glad I went, even if I was still feeling the effects of the night before... :lol
