I came here from a very toxic and one-sided gaming forum/environment. I have been met on NeoGAF with so many positive reaction emoji on my posts, and zero censorship. I was gifted Gold by a very generous Red Dead cowboy. I think that I am going to maintain my Gold status here when the gifted sub runs out. Thank you for letting all sides express their views since that is what an actual conversation and dialogue is all about.

Wow. I've been on GAF for 20 years. This account has been registered for almost 17 years, but I was a lurker for about 4 years before I joined. Can't believe it's been that long.

GAF has definitely changed over the years, as has the entire internet (mostly for the worse, imo), but it still remains a great place to discuss gaming. And it's a real community, too, which is hard to find these days, especially asynchronously.
 
Sure, I actually got kicked from many sites but neogaf is different, I've noticed that some sites use my ip address to never even come up with different username,they're done with me.

Glad you're enjoying the community Calico. The prize ribbon means that the thread itself was gifted gold (shout out to ReBurn ReBurn !), which shades it gold on the thread list.

I messaged EviLore EviLore a few years back when I was having a hard time in my life and not acting cool on here. Was getting involved in threads and being contrarian. This place is really important to me and I don't really know anyone personally but I know that there are a lot of decent people here who are just trying their best.

I think the number one reason is they just can't tolerate xbox guys opinions, and most of times they can't express why this game is 9,8 or even 7, they do the dirty job once and they expect you to catch up with them.

There really is, (active) forums are so rare these days, and for those of us that grew up with the internet in the 90s it's like a part of internet we used to love is dying, so it's refreshing to still see some going strong.
 
Kudos to all the mods for the success and keeping this place as welcoming as it is, while allowing strong disagreements to take place. I lurked here for ages before deciding to participate, so I'm not shocked by the numbers. I suspect the gaming audience will spend a lot more time reading comments and opinions on here than reading articles on "gaming sites" like IGN and the sort.
