I can't see any way Serena doesn't win at least a set in a grand slam final but she's been making plenty of unforced errors.

I don't know who's going to win that one.

I say someone in 3, I go with Serena.

As is the case in pretty much any Serena Williams match. If she comes out and plays like she's capable of playing, it's a mismatch. However, the physical ailments she's been battling will probably be key. Henin has to make her move a lot.

Some people are really hostile to Murray and I don't understand why. He is defiantly not a boring player which is one of the recurring points that I keep seeing :/

Fed will win in 4 sets imo.

Serena will edge it out later on today, too.

You are forgetting that Henin is the better player than her. Henin will be more prepared for the match having battled talented ball strikers Petrova and Kleybanova as well as a great mover and hitter. Serena has not played anyone like Henin since she retired and will be in for a rude awakening when Henin routines her.

You Jrs sure are funny sometimes. Obviously Serena is better than Henin. Now it's possible for Henin to win, but lets not get crazy.

Uuugghhh. Buying into the biased commentary again. There is a 7-6 career head to head for Serena. Justine is the better player. You are forgetting about 2004 to 2006 where Serena was nowhere near a dominant force on the tour. Just because Serena can play in one tournament before a slam and beat bums like Jankovic and Safina in slams does not make her some godly force. Justine will prove she is the greatest of this tennis generation tonight.

Well put sir. Go Henin <3

Lol a one match advantage is a dominant head to head. :lol

No one said it was "dominant" but your own logic is illogical.

Basically, both great players but if she doesn't fuck up, Serena will overpower her ass to oblivion.

This isn't the early 2000's everybody hits hard these days. Serena does not have a power advantage. Serena is a mindless ballbasher and UE machine. Justine is a tennis player.

This is the first time they meet in a Grand Slam final though, so the track record between them doesn't hold much weight anyway.

I don't know what that means.

Division 1???

College???

I'm too old to remember.

If so, what school???

I don't really want to say because my last name is too unique, but it is in Texas.

I'm sorry for my aggressiveness, I'm too pumped to see Justine back in a Slam final again. :D

No problem and didn't mean to pry(didn't want your name or anything) and I am not saying Justine couldn't beat Serena, I know she could but I thought you were a bit adamant and too confident that she will without problem and that I thought was problematic.

I'm not a fan of either of them really but I find it a really strong matchup.

Just because you want someone to be the better player, doesn't mean you should ignore EXISTING facts.

Serena has won most of her encounters with Henin. Serena has far more Grand Slam and tournament victories.

Henin also had to retire as she was unfit to play. Serena is incredibly fit and has dominated tennis for a decade.

Serena Williams is better than Justine Henin.

I am not from Australia, is it on at like 3 in the morning in the US or something???

Serena has not been dominant for a decade. Only in 2002-03 was she completely dominant. In 2004 she struggled with injuries. In 2006 she finished 95 in the rankings, which I guess is dominant. :lol 2002-03 she was dominant. 2007-09 she was successful in slams.

Rafa=FedKilla said:

That's all she cares or plays for.

Yeah, she went away for a while but she's back and maybe not exactly the same but she's close.

I am looking forward to this match more than the mens'.

That's weird but true this time.

haha you talk big game but you probably play for Lamar. I was was a 1 star recruit for tennis and even I could have played for Lamar university.

edit: on the other hand if you play for UT then PM me

Rafa=FedKilla said:
What about the SWAC schools?

Oh right I forgot, how could I forget Prairie View. Last year they lost to Lamar 7-0. Hell they lost to a few D3 schools too. You really are reluctant to call yourself a D1 player, but good on you I guess

What are you saying again?

Rafa=FedKilla said:

I'm trying to justify to myself why you think Henin is a better player than Serena. If you played number 1 for UT or Texas A&M I would have been concerned thats all. You may be a pretty good tennis player, but I just don't see how you think Henin is better than Serena. Henin may very well beat Serena tonight, but all that will do is even their overall record which doesn't make Henin better than Serena. Henin has better form, I'll give you that. You have to have perfect form when you're that size.

Technique and strategy doesn't mean shit, it's results that matter and the results are that Serena has won more and bigger tournaments.

Oh, I see what you guys are saying. To you, more wins = better player, regardless of how the player aquired those wins. To me, the better player is the more complete player who plays smarter, with finesse and bigger variety of shots in the arsenal.

Results don't lie, especially the results when the players in question have played each other.

agrajag said:
Can you seriously think that Serena has better technique and strategy than Henin?:lol

Bingo. I never said Henin had better strategy and technique. THats the only reason she wins. Like I said, with her size you have to be perfect with all the intangibles. Serena is BETTER, not because of her technique and strategy, but she just wins more. She has size, and more power. It works for her

and Rafa=fedkilla, Prairie View A&M is the only D1 SWAC school in Texas that has a tennis program so......yeah

By that logic, any player who has a personal record against Federer (like Murray) is better than him. The idea that Murray > Federrer is laughable.

Size and power makes a good tennis player, gotcha.

I never said I played in the SWAC. I mentioned the SWAC because you said you could only play for Lamar to whcih I replied "what about the SWAC?" Since we are both on the same page that the SWAC is shitty.

Yeah but not at all.

Comparing Murray against Federer is problematic as you have to take into account how many times they played against each other and how they have done in slams.

Serena has the one on one advantage and has won more slams.
