Funny, the first time I saw Astrobot he kinda reminded me of Eva from Wall-E.

I think it's fitting. Yeah, he's perfect for representing the PlayStation brand.

Astro Bot honestly feels more like a marketing mascot than a game character. It helps that the games are great but it still has the vague feeling of those 90s adver-gaming titles like Cool Spot and Pepsi Man.

So yeah that seems like an appropriate groove.

astro bot is generic and uninspiring in design. no chance it becomes a mascot for sony.

I have to agree it's generic and uninspiring as a character but that's intentional so it can cosplay as other mascots. But the character alone is forgettable.
