wtf, he shouldn't be crouched waiting for the ball with a second runner at second tagging? is he supposed to let the ball fly past him to the backstop? shut up, you didn't see the game. you probably saw a 5 second highlight on ESPNews and said "hey, he's a sox fan, he's wrong"

if you saw the over the top view you'd be eating your words.

yeah, the ball was slightly ahead of the hit. it was barely past when hunter hit him. but the fact remains burke was off the plate enough for Hunter to EASILY slide in. and again, burke wasn't even facing him directly. he was out of hunter's line looking straight ahead for the ball

Way to be a DOUCHE yourself. :P The Cubs are treading above water and battling for the wild card while the Astros are just battling to get to get to .500. No one said anything about World Series. Just nice to see a struggling team not give up. :D

Guess what, your Cubs are like 4 games over the Stros...thats nothing in baseball.I look at your team and dont see that much of a difference between the two at this point.

Can you prove to me the stros have given up? I watched the game tonight and besides the usual bullpen blowing it the stros were only down 2-0 when Andy got hurt and got it to 2-1 going to the top of the 9th.

Your Cubs last I looked only won 3-1 or something tonight and they lost yesterday *almost got no-hit too* How is your team any different than ours? Why is our team giving up on a night we lost, but when your teams loses they're playing their hearts out.

Last time I checked a one game differential can be the difference between making the playoffs and going home. :P

...

Your team is shit, you and I both know this.
My team is shit, you and I both know this.

Both teams will be home alright, watching the Cards play some wild card team from the West or East.

All your team does is hit HR's..its going to really bite them in the @ss in the long run if they dont start changing their approachs at the plate. The Cubs would be deadly if they could hit and run, steal some bases..shit even hit some singles.

Cubs are fooked if they make the playoffs.

They are a HR hitting team. In the playoffs you need to score runs by not hitting home runs. We need Lofton back!

Well, the Cubs are deadly in a five and seven game series with their pitching.

They may be able to win some 1-0 games.

I dont know what's going on with Kaz lately.. he'd been doing so well this year :( Hopefully he can bounce back next start. He's struggled against the Rockies all year though unfortunately. I love the fact the Giants and Pads are playing each other right now.. we automatically gain a game on one of them tonight (although one of them also doesnt lose a game but we can deal with that). :D

that fairy varitek hurt his wrist pushing arods face.

Rodriguez joked: "I'm stronger than I look. If you hit me, you'll break your wrist."

i wonder what arod said to affleck yesterday.

...and the A's crush the Mariners for their third in a row. Second half push beginning? Maybe? IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF WHEN!

Yeah, but Ozzie doesn't have a problem with it. If it was a Sox player trying to score we would have all given him a standing ovation for playing tough.

Here's what he said:

"That's a message," Guillen said. "If that happened on my side, I would be high-fiving my players. If my players don't like it, that's a message."

Hopefully this will light a fire under their asses. God, we played flat last night. The crowd was absolutely dead. Luckily I was sitting in center so there was some excitement hearing the crowd give Hunter a hard time.

Hee hee. I'm LOVING the Braves second half resurgence here. They've won 21 of 28. Their ERA keeps dropping and their runs scored keeps rising. Rob Neyer is going to have to eat some major crow at the end of the season, when the Braves make the playoffs.*

*Of course, they'll lose in the first or second round. Hell, even I know that. But it's satisfying to see all the "experts" wear egg on their faces.

The perfect setting for an upset victory by Arizona! Oswalt gets about the same run support as Matt Clement. I smell no hitter by Gonzalez.

Maddux is gonna get win number 299 tonight! But he goes against Sheets. Sheets has dominated the Cubs over the course of his career but Greg beat him last time out!

PLUS, HAS DUSTY AWOKEN FROM HIS SLUMBER?! Todd Walker is starting tonight! Cubs have the best era in the majors plsu their 3rd in hitting. This is why I think they'll turn it around. It sort of pathetic they are 3rd in hitting yet can't score any damn runs.

i feel really bad for him.

on the flip side it makes the yanks look really good.

and god, el duque is just sick. he just gets out there and absolutely DEALS.

Yes! Sheets gets pegged for 2 runs in the top of the first!

The most amazing feat of all of this? The two runs were scored on doubles and singles! OMGWTF. Damn you Dusty look at what happens when Walker sets the table for the rest fo the team!

WTF... I can't watch the game on mlb tv because I live in Houston... wtf kind of shit is that... why would I want to watch some other game... I can understand it being blacked out when it's being telecast on tv... but tonights games is not on tv at all... I mean that sucks. I hate listening to games on radio.

Great, Bako misses the pitch. Runners at 2nd and 3rd one out. Maddux get used to Barret damn it! I can't believe we have to have Bako in every 5th day.

what's happened to andy pettite? i cant believe that his elbow would fall part like that. maybe throwing all those cutters really hurt him....

Torn tendon in his pitching elbow :( He might pitch or he might go to the DL and it looks like he will need surgery at the end of the season...IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT EVIL!!

It's turn back the clock night in Minute Maid Park...Bags hit a 3-run HR *jaw drop*

10-0 Stros :eek

Adam with 2 solo Hr's.

haha

When was the last game where the Cubs got 10 runs? Can you imagine them having to hit ten solo hr's in one game.

how did they score? 5 solo Hr's,6?7?10?

THEY HIT HOME RUNS FOR THE CYCLE, BEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAATTTTCHHH.

Seriously, they had a solo shot, two run shot, three run shot, and grand slam.

geez,thats sick.

WTF? Why take out maddux?
He had pitched two straight complete games before today.

Wow, Santana is continuing his amazing streak. Assuming he holds on today (1 hit through 6), he hasn't allowed more than 4 hits in any of his last 9 starts. And it's been 77 innings since he last gave up an earned run on anything but a homer. He's like the pitching version of the Cubs.

Uhhhh, the stupid 1st base ump took a double away from Walker. How could that be called foul? Stupid ump screwed up!

Second note to Dusty:

Bench Gonzalez, and get Grudz at short and Walker at 2nd!

So, how many more games until Tom Gordon's arm just falls apart Tom Browning style. He's about 90 years old, and has pitched well over 9000 innings so far this year.
