Marlins better sweep LA just for us fans having to stay up past 1am all week!

And thanks for the win yesterday. Although our best defensive players almost cost it for us with 2 straight errors!

Poor misguided sox fans. You realize your season is already over and have to resort to slandering the Cubs. No worries here. We'll loan out that wild card lead for a little while longer before snatching it back up before the end of the year!

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
excuse me, weren't you just laughing at the sox since they were 5 out of the wild card? 5 out of the WC, 4 out of the division.
your team is 1.5 out of the WC, and 14.5 out of the division. yet you still praise the cubs like theyre the best team in baseball.

Again I will post it:

so yeah, laugh it up. it'll be that much sweeter when the cubs pull their annual choke job.

Cubs are the best team in baseball. Not right now, but they will be once they are hoisting that World Series trophy in October. Dustiny will kick in by September 1.

Shut Em Down Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilson!!! Marlins shutdown by our 34 year old part-time Reliever/Starting pitcher. Picked a great game to go see, the bases loaded jam he got himself out of in the 7th was just beautiful. Everyone got up and cheered like crazy...

Yeah, I heard that on ESPN radio today on Gamenight. Dude is ridonkulous. Batting like .490 since the break, batting over .500 in August.

So Dreifort gets put on the DL and there's no cheering? What the hell is the matter with you guys? :p

And Alvarez getting out of that jam with bases loaded was epic!

That's been the Marlin way all year long. They have made some of the worst pitchers in the league look like Randy Johnson on his best night. It sucks because their offense is so much better than what they have shown.

Can't really complain though when the Marlins are World Series Champs. 2 rings in 7 years, ohh yeah! :D

Damn.

We should have traded Patterson for Ichiro early in the season when we had a chance too!

i don't know what you're smoking. The M's wouldn't trade Ichiro for Barry Bonds. He's a freaking revenue machine.

Rich Lord and David Dalati of Sportsradio 610 reporting that Andy Pettitte is out for the season. Placed on the DL and will undergo surgery (forgot what kind) and will take 12-16 weeks to recover. Brandon Backe will be called up from AAA New Orleans Zephyrs.

I'm glad he went and got a second opinion. This season doesn't matter enough to risk ending his career.

Backe had lowered his AAA ERA to 2.80..I guess he just needed more innings of work to learn how to pitch well. He's only been pitching for about 2 years I think, he was drafted as a position player. I like the kid. It was awesome when he struck out the side in 9 pitches earlier this season with the Astros. Plus apparently he lives in the same city as me! lol

Doesn't Nintendo own the M's or something like that? The big N sure does love profit! haha.

Gammons just said he thought the Cubs are gonna win the World Series.

Smart man. :)

Did he forget the Cardinals, Yankees and A's don't quit mid-August?

Gammons also predicted a red sox/cubs WS, which doesn't look like it'll pan out now.

But I can't blame the guy, he really just wanted it to happen and it all seemed possible at the start of the season.

Steinbrenner to Cashman: Purchase this "Santana" for me.

Cashman to Steinbrenner: Well, see he's under contract and not available for trade right n-

Steinbrenner: SILENCE MORTAL! THEN OVERPAY FOR HIM IN TWO YEARS WHEN HE'S NO LONGER AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME!

Cashman: Yes, Boss.

Larry Bowa is a Loser- always has been, always will be. That ring from '80? Inconsequential in the long run of things. Not only is the man a Loser, he knows that Losing is his lot in life. You can see it in his eyes, smell it coming off of him in noxious waves...

The man only knows Losing. This season was Destined to come apart like a house of cards on the hapless Phils, and not because of anything other than this central fact: Larry is a Loser.

And Bobby Cox is a winner. Ho ho ho... I will never again predict anything other than a Braves division victory while this man helms the team. He could go out with a team of parapalegics and still win a division. Just don't bet on the man in October.

Here is a great article on Ed Wade, Phillies GM and long time Bowa supporter, declining to endorse his Losing Manager:

I think the Dodgers can turn Stewart's fortunes around but I think our 1-2 punch should be Carrara and Brazoban for the stretch run.

Stewart's? N/M, havent seen him pitch but his ERA is pretty high.

He was a quality pitcher for the Expos last year, just seems to be struggling. But look what we've done to Mota, Carrara (struggled mightily last year in Seattle after pitching wonderfully for us for two years), Duaner Sanchez, etc. Lots of middle relievers don't fare very well elsewhere but shine in Dodger blue.

They do, actually. Howard Lincoln is basically the guy M's management has to talk to whenever they want to expand the payroll. I thought the team could have eaked out another strong season, but only at busting the budget again, which is something Nintendo doesn't like to do. Until the team shows some talent, I don't think they'll mind being Ichiro + low paid backup.

As long as Nintendo of Japan has their money involved in the Mariners, I can't see Ichiro being traded. It may not make a lot of baseball sense sometimes, but having Japanese players on the roster probably makes it easier for the payroll to stay above canadian team levels.

HOLY shit. Astros win a heartstopper. Bases loaded bottom of the 9th...Lidge gets Utley to pop out and gets out of his own jam...great game. [except for Qualls/Harville/Gallo...] :(

 Patterson? Please. Ichiro is a hitting, stealing, money-making machine for the club. The Mariners have a large Japanese cult following due entirely to Ichiro.

RIP Pettitte, you had a pretty good season. It's just too bad the bullpen blows and the supposedly all-star lineup is entirely too inconsistent. Here's to next year, I guess.

And the winning hit by Lenny Harris, the oldest player around lol.

Harris hasn't seen fastballs all year, and this is what he does when he gets fastballs. Felt good to win after yesterdays poor outing. Now lets keep it going. :)

Damn I wish I could've stayed home from school for this one. TRIPLE PLAY! Astros come from behind to win 12-10!

LOL

What do you get when you put the worst pitcher on the Astros, the two most disappointing teams in baseball, and the slowest runner in baseball...

DAVID WEATHERS INDUCES A GROUND BALL TRIPLE PLAY TO MORGAN ENSBERG. GO TODD PRATT!

Edit: Hrm, that doesn't look right for some reason...

DW pitches....Pratt grounds to Ensberg. Steps on the bag, flings to 2nd, to 1st...triple play. Bases were loaded with 0 outs. LOL

Hey Stros fans, be useful for once and let me know who is pitching all three of these games against the Cubs.

Cubs have Rusch, Wood, and then Prior going. Want to see who Houston is countering with.

If we don't win at least two out of three we suck.

Munro, Backe [2.61 AAA ERA as a starter...I have faith in him.], Oswalt.

Munro = win
Backe = win (We'll rough up the rookie!)
Oswalt = push
