Dustys touch is golden right now. Nothing can go wrong. The Farns goes into the 9th and doesn't give up a run? Amazing.

I've been telling you nonbelievers Dustiny kicks in around the end of August. :p

I found this on the St. Louis Cardinals message board. Stupid card fans, but this is pretty funny:

Dusty Baker is to pitch counts what the Enterprise was to space exploration...

"...to boldly go where no man has gone before."

Fuckin A-Rod...destroyer of Yankee rallys.

Last night , 1st and 3rd.. fucker grounds into a double play and the nice lead they could have established vanished, and so did the game.

Tonight, bases loaded...fucker grounds into a double play.

Is he trying to make nice to Theo? This shit pisses me off to no end. The Yanks finally get a nice rally going, bases are loaded, runs are being scored, and he fucks it up. Pop it up you over paid piece of shit. At least Soriano would have struck out.

This slump is killing me.

H Choi walked, S Green to second.
A Cora walked, M Bradley scored, S Green to third, H Choi to second.
B Mayne walked, S Green scored, H Choi to third, A Cora to second.

We all know its gona be him, might as well take out the congrat caps now, and start to bow down to the greatest player to touch a bat. (Uncorked even).

Barry dominates at the plate like no other player, no doubt. But I think Pujols deserves the MVP trophy this year. Him or Rolen.

Pujols has the pop, the average, plus hes a much better defender.

Yeah, Pujols has had an amazing year. Yet:

Pujols has the pop, the average, plus hes a much better defender.

Everything there is pretty much true (cept the average, barry has .362 while albert has a .323). But the thing is, you have to wonder how many more knockouts barry could get if he maybe had more pitches to hit. He only has 293 AB's, while Albert has 477! Barry is only behind albert by 6 runs scored (107 to 101), and Barry has 106 hits compared to Albert's 154.

Also, did any of you guys see yesterday's game, where Barry was walked with two on, two outs, bottom of the 9th? A.J. Pierzinsky came up and got walked(!!!) and the Giants won the game.

Theres only one person I've seen that has dominated as much as Barry has, MJ. He deserved his MVP Trophies, so does Barry. :)

if Barry had the ABs Pujols, Rolen and Beltre had (and the supporting cast batting around him), he'd EASILY finish the season with 65-70 homeruns, if not more. Statwise, its no contest. Bonds, as much as i hate to say it cause i hate him and the Giants, obliterates the competition. He should be the unanimous MVP.

Umm, what kind of crack are you smoking? Rolen is the better defender. Pujols is one of my favorite players in baseball... he's just pure talent. So I agree with your picks. Bonds has too many MVP trophies, plus his team is struggling to get a playoff spot while the Cards have the best record in baseball.... IMO that has to account for something in the MVP voting.

Uhh, the Cardinals are stacked while the Giants have Barry and....shit. Without him and Jason Schmidt, the Giants would be a last place team. I have no love for Barry Bonds, but by any definition of Most Valuable Player he deserves the award.

Exactly. Same reason Sosa beat McGwire in '98

It should be Beltre if anyone other than Bonds. Pujols and Rolen shouldnt even be in the conversation at this point. Adrian is having a monster season and has done almost all of it while suffering from bone spurs in his ankle that will require offseason surgery and some other issues with his same leg. He has more or less singlehandedly put the Dodgers in first place and as far as defense goes, is right there with Rolen for one of the best 3B in the league. His arm is arguably the best.

I hate Bonds but I can agree that he is having an MVP season, however if Beltre leads the Dodgers to a first place finish -- then he should be it without question.

can someone tell me what the hell is beltre doing with 40 homeruns? couldnt have come at a better time for him though, hes in a contract year right?

and ive watched/listened to about 30 minutes of yankees games in the past 2 weeks, it makes me sad :(

41 now. And the kid has done it while injured and with NO ONE around him in the lineup most of the year. Greenie has been better in the second half and Finley has hit well since joining us (only 4 HR in 23 games, but he's been getting on base at least), but for much of the year Beltre has just had absolutely 0 protection.

We've lost a lot of games from not have a good closer, 7 from Matt Herges (who had to start for the injured Robb Nen), and 13 from the rest of the team. In all our bullpen screwed over 20 games (all were save opportunitys, maybe the giants came back in some, but its not too likely), which is pretty crazy. If we had a good closer, we would have first place locked, and no-one would need to know why Barry would be MVP, because it would not be questioned. :\

I'm sorry but no.

YEAR G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS
2004 121 468 88 158 25 0 41 95 38 70 2 2 .338 .386 .654 1.039
2004 113 293 101 106 22 1 35 79 182 26 6 1 .362 .608 .802 1.410

By stats alone Bonds murders Beltre. Only 28 strikeouts!!! On base 6 out of every 10 at-bats!!!

If you're going to consider intangibles then Bonds still wins. Who is 40 years old this year? Who has the immense media pressure and crowds that appear at every game? And in the injury department, have you forgotten all the back spasms that he has had this year?

Los Angelas is in first place this year because of its pitching and not its hit-or-miss offense. It's always fun to make a case for players on your favorite team, but that evil fucker Bonds is the MVP; he's taken a team of nobodys and players well out of their prime into the wild card race and second most runs in the league.

A-rod really never carried the Rangers as a team at any point. He won mvp on that team but never turned it on until they were out of contention. Then he put up some fantastic numbers though a moot point. He didnt deserve mvp imo and that team is playing better than ever without him and with Soriano

Oh, and Bonds this year is the same deal as Jordan back in the day. He'd only ever not receive mvp because we're so used to his dominance and some other athletes are having monster years compared to normal players. Bonds deserves mvp though no doubt. There's simply no one better in the league of his value. He's amazing.

There was an interesting stat that Soriano's playing quite similiar to A-Rod. Now if only I can remember where I saw it. Think it was on msnbc. Same issue with not doing much with RiSP though.

That article also mentioned that A-Rod has had an ill effect on Jeter, making his season mediocre. I didn't agree with that, I feel that if you cut out those first couple of weeks of the season, Jeter's had a great year.

Either way, I'm not ready to feel comfortable with A-Rod after one game. A single doesn't make up the 5 left on base yesterday.

just started watching the game...wtf happened between Barret and Oswalt?

This has carried over from the last game.

Last time they played, Oswalt retaliated to a batsman kerry wood hit by throwing a ball right in the high lower middle back of Barrett. Barrett is still pissed off.

Mild mannered Barrett, what have you done OSWALT? Lol.

So, apparently Wood threw really inside to Oswalt. Something is going to happen with this at bat.

Oh and... BACK TO BACK!
