Went to the Red Sox - Jays game tonight.. baseball is amazing.. Even a last place team like the Jays can provide awesome entertainment.. Lilly made the Sox look ugly all game. Probably the best game I've been to since the 93 playoffs.

ALLLLOOOOUUUUUUUU!!!

Three run bomb in the first! Is the run finally happening? Every time I start talking about a Cubs run they screw things up! But I'm starting to feel good. The team is starting to hit, and get runners on base for those bombs. Plus they are starting to knock runs in without the use of the home run.

How is Clement going to react with a three run lead so early in the game? I think the Cubs just scored more runs for him tonight then his last ten games combined!

Woohoo!!

7-0 Marlins...1st inning!

Woa! Who is pitching for the Giants?

We got six games with Florida coming up in September. Those are going to be huge. I think the defending champs are starting to make a playoff run too. Must fight them off!

Wayne Franklin. :)

It was supposed to be Schmidt but he's hurt.

Ohh...I stand corrected. Franklin is leaving the game in the 1st inning, 50 pitches!!

Wayne Franklin is pitchin for the Giants. I never really liked him, and today was actually Jason Schmidt's game, but since hes hurt they moved him back 4 games. This sucks ass we need this win.

edit: A little late hahah

So we got a Fins and Giants fan here? Its too bad for you guys it doesn't matter which team needs the win, because the Cubbies are taking the Wild Card. :D

Just like the Cubs beat the Marlins in the NLCS? Maybe if Alou jumps up and down again whining, they may get it. Then again, didn't help him then. :p

Baby steps, my friend. Baby steps!

What is the fun if the Cubbies win it all in the first year of Bakers contract? Lose the NLCS in horrific/comedic/heartbreaking fashion, to make it all the sweeter when we get over the NLCS hump this year and win the World Series!

hahaha

This is gona be a sweet race for the wildcard. But the Giants have a chance for the Division Title if L.A's losing streak continues, and we pull through this one somehow. We still play them 6 more times this year, so we might just be able to pull ahead of them ;D

Very true. I think San Fran is only four games back of LA and LA seems to be faltering a bit.

Just make sure Wrigley Field is still standing, lol.

The Blue Jays had the bases loaded and none out... Mike Timlin struck out 2 and the 3rd grounded in to a force. Way to be absolutely inept, Blue Jays. Mike Timlin isn't exactly Randy Johnson. Why can't Ted Lilly pitch every night?

I know the adjustment from knuckle balls to normal pitching is rough, but leaving the bases loaded?

Fuckin Red Sox.

We won't talk about the fact that Javier Vazquez had 1 Contreras in headlights inning to keep the Yanks from being up 4-0 right now. What the fuck is a Coco Crisp anyway?

I hate baseball.

Desperate? He pitched 2 2/3s innings in the game he got ejected from when he usually goes 7+...why not use him? I thought it was a great idea.

Lol, I think good 'ole Uecker is the only man alive who can go into Wrigley and sing the 7th innning stretch by saying he is gonna root for the Brewers, without getting booed to hell and back.

Hmm, why is Oswalt pitching tonight? Don't they want to keep him fresh for his next start??

plus in his bullpen sessions between starts he throws his normal pitches: 97 mph heater, etc. he only threw 13 pitches tonight. [2 K's I might add!]

I understand he got ejected for being stupid in the Cubs game. :p

I'm questioning why he was wasted this game which could have an effect on his next start.

How is pitching to the Phillies stressful? =P

EDIT: They said on KTRH [radio] that Roy volunteered for it. Clemens volunteered to pitch in relief a couple of weeks ago, as well [though he didn't end up pitching that night.]

The Wild Card is ours. We won't relinquish the lead. This team is heating up. Perfect time to start getting hot. Just like last year.

If I were Oswalt I'd be super pissed. Its not like the 'Stros are gonna make the playoffs, why put Oswalt in a potential injury situation when the game's not neccesary to win?

Edit: NM. Oswalt's just really stupid.

Quick question, what happened to all the White Sox fans? I think it's about time they come in here and eat some of the shit they were throwing around earlier in the season. Best offense in the league...Pfft.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
HAHA this is coming from a fan of a certain team who's own manager has overworked pitchers arms.....

*looks at Mr.Bob in shocked amusement*

Congratulations, the Cubs just beat a last place team. They will fail again when the pressure is on. If not I'll have to bring out the goat. Or how about Bartman?

But first I think the Cubs have to worry about Wrigley Field crashing in on them. :p

Muahahaha!! :D

When Jason Schmidt plays at the end of the week, hes gona have 16 wins, but he definetely wants 20, so hes gona start a couple more faster then he usually does (no one else in our team is a good pitcher anyways, Jerome Williams who was steppin up pretty well got hurt). I just hope we can take care of the dodgers to finish in front of them for the division. That would rock.

Cubs seem to finally be heating up, while Giants did last month thats why i hope giants can take the dodgers.

The Brewers have given this team hell all year. I don't know why. But it seems like we have finally figured them out! Time to complete the sweep today and then do another four game sweep of the stros!!!

Also, its about time we start playing some sub .500 teams. We spent nearly three months straight playing teams with winning records.

Hopefully Florida can stay in the thick of things going into September. It'll make it much sweeter to see the Cubs take 5 of 6 against them in September, effectively ending any playoff hopes they have! :D

Beltre is the clear MVP this year.

normally, i'd have to agree (i definately put him ahead of the St.Louis triplets) but as long as Bonds is playing the way he plays, you might as well put his name on that award. The guy is putting up comparable stats to the rest of the MVP candidates with like 200 less atbats. Thats just incredible.

Sep 29 @SD
Sep 30 @SD
Oct 1 @LA
Oct 2 @LA
Oct 3 @LA

If I get ambitious maybe I'll do the same for San Diego and Florida. Otherwise someone else could do it. Giants got a tough path. 12 of their last 15 against san diego and LA with houston thrown inbetween.

BTW Marlins fanZ you better hope your team can take 4 of 6 or 5 of 6 from the Cubs. That is your only chance. At worst, if we split 3-3, we'll still be 5 games up. :p But this year is different than last year. The Marlins aren't as good as the WS team last year and the Cubs - on paper- are much better. Now they are starting to heat up. I expect 4 out of 6 against Florida if not better. Dustiny kicks in going into September.
