Astros shortstop Adam Everett, who has been out since breaking a bone in his wrist Aug. 6, had his cast removed Wednesday and was excited to be able to travel with the team for the first time since being injured.

"It's a huge step, not only physically but mentally as well," Everett said. "I finally get to travel with the team, and it's nice to feel like I'm a part of it."

Everett will continue to wear a plastic brace that he can remove during rehab, which will intensify now that he's cast-free. He hopes to be able to return by the end of the month.

There were quite a few pitches that Hernandez wasn't getting the call on [mainly some down in the strike zone] that I thought he should've...compared to some of Perez's pitches they looked very similar...but milo and ash didn't seem to think that he was getting squeezed so i dunno.

I was thinking that our switch hitters [Beltran, Berkman, Viz] should've maybe tried to turn it around and hit from their stronger side...unorthodox I know but nothing was doing against Perez and something different might've helped.
