I swear to fuck I better see Chris Cooper as Green Goblin at some point. I was so excited when he was announced and I saw that poster and I was like yiiiiiiiiiiiis. Then I saw a zoom-in and it was Dehane and I was like nooooooooooooo.

And yes I know Cooper is supposedly dead but fuck that.

I really hope Peters Ringtone from the Movie pops out soon in the internet.

I really need this for my own cellphone :D

This.

Just finished seeing this and I thought it was a solid movie. The previews definitely went overboard with the advertised villains though; Rhino was literally in the film for like 3 minutes at the end. Electro ended up being a pretty legit villain for Spidey and the fight sequences between the two were slick. I kinda felt like Goblin was rushed at the end, but the Gwen Stacy death scene was really good. Loved how everything was slow mo to begin but upon impact it was in real time and apparent what had happened.

8.3/10

Saw gwens death on youtube. Dang, it was pretty raw. It definitely wasn't whiplash, her head hit the floor hard.

I like how they made the web look like an outstretched hand during the slow motion.

You know, when Max got his first few significant scenes in this movie, I literally thought to myself in the cinema;

"I'm watching a movie where Sony paid top billings to turn Jamie Foxx into the most obsessive, pathetic man alive and be treated like the most inhuman piece of road trash imaginable"

I couldn't tell if the direction with his character was meant to be tragicomedy or just plain tragic. It felt for the longest time that he was supposed to have a character arc until Green Goblin is written into the movie in the last minute to literally steal the show in the worst possible way.

I agree, but I think they wanted him to play a character that was mentally unstable due to low self esteem and the fact he had been looked down on by everyone around him. Maybe if Electro had more monologues showing his pent up frustrations and paranoia it would have been a better story arc. Kinda of sucked how he basically popped his lid at the end, not nearly enough suspense.

The whole green goblin finish lacked a lot of emotional appeal, not by the actors but by the writing staff imo. Way too rushed. The death drop was brilliant, reminded me of the spartacus war of the damned finish where theres no slow mo when the death blow is struck, you see it happen in real time which is much more shocking. It just wasn't worthy of an underdeveloped green goblin run in.

I really liked it. Best Spider-Man film to date.

A lot before the build-up was the idea that it would be a mess ~too many villains~ etc... But it really wasn't. If anything, i'd say you could argue it was on the other side, and we could maybe have seen a little more villain action. I really liked the small time Electro and Harry had together, it was a good partnership. Not that i'm criticising the lack of action or anything, just saying that it certainly wasn't messy with villains.

Garfield and Stone are amazing together. Even more so than the first film (which I really liked). Their scenes are really involving, good acting, good chemistry etc...

Spider-Man improves further in this film, the quips and action are very strong. Very Spider-Man.

Garfield (on these boards anyway) is often criticised for his portrayal of Peter, but I think he gets it pretty much bang on. Really nice portrayal. I have seen a few saying that Peter comes off as a bit of a dick - and he does in moments (stalking? ish etc...) but that is how Peter always was. Like, that is what makes him an interesting character. He isn't the perfect person - as Peter, he can often be a bit of a douche, and you don't always like him for it - and that contributes to making Spider-Man really interesting.

Anyway. Very enjoyable. Some issues with tone at times, yeah - but overall a really good film AND a really good Spider-Man film.

(PS: Excited for Sinister Six - what is the plan at the moment? I know things always change, but I heard the the plan is 4 films. Is Sinister Six the next film or... across both?).

I just saw it and was pretty disappointed. The first half of the movie was a slow snoozefest. The villains were poor. Electro was just a floating character shooting lighting bolts everywhere. The Goblin wasn't great either. I think they got the wrong actor for that.

Parker continually crying all the time. Teenage angst.

The worse Spiderman film I've seen.

See? I called Rhinos metal gear knockoff thing months ago way before the movie finished filming.

That was a great ending

Overall, enjoyed it but was disappointed, mainly because of one thing.

It felt like this was a love film with some action in-between more than an action film with a bit of love story.

Parker and Gwen had WAY TOO much screen time and it got pretty lame, rolling my eyes lame. I knew there was going to be this sort of stuff but did not expect there to be this much. Her death was a surprise.

Electro was good though, as well as the fights scenes. Actually pretty much all the action scenes were very well done which kinda made up for the problem I had.

I didn't mind the slow motion parts as much as I thought I would. goblin's scene was good but too short.

Not better than SM2.

The ending, with the little kid standing up to Rhino ( that could have been a great battle, actual spiderman not the kid) got me though, pulled some heart strings.

So my main question, which spiderman film is more like the comics/original story? amazing spider man or the Tobey Maguire spiderman?
They seem to be very different ( like Norman's death)

The films vary on specific points - but in general Amazing Spider-Man is far closer to the comics.

No he does not. Tell us when and how he cried. Talk about hyperbole. I can only remember one or two occasions: after Gwen's death and when he broke up with Gwen the first time (and that's not even obvious if he cries or not).

I saw ASM2 at IMAX in Australia and there was no X-Men scene :'(

Can anyone post what it was?

Weird. I saw it at EVENT cinema and they showed us that. How did they cut it? Because there was a brief flash followed by a shot of Cerebro door opening up.

The scene shows Mystique infiltrating General Stryker's compound to free some mutants (Havok and Toad amongst others) who have been captured by him. Stryker got caught off-guard by this attack and it wasn't long before Mystique free the others with the help of Havok and Toad. As they exit the compound, Havok asks Mystique "Where's Erik?" but she claims that she's been running solo these days.

So they teased the Mystique spin-off?

Thanks for the summary! And I would guess that the IMAX print is different to the regular cinema one to take advantage of IMAX's projection and sound system despite not being shot in the IMAX format.

Teen angst is getting moved to tears when people die? whut

Saw this last week. I really enjoyed it. I think there definitely parts of it that were pretty off or did not get enough development like when Harry gets in to the green goblin suit following his attempt to heal himself with the spider venom. Action was top notch and I thought the relationships between all the characters were all handled very well. The humor was also great. There really was a lot to like in this movie. It may be a more enjoyable film than Spider-man 2 was depending on your tastes.

It always impresses me how people consider that a movie is exactly the same than a comic from DECADES ago.

No, it is still a spoiler don't matter how old the original source is =P

A friend spoiled me a thing from the third hobbit movie that I had even FORGOT because I read the original book SO LONG AGO

The bigger spoiler is Gwen was fucking Norman Osborne.

Wait they are the same person ????

.....OH

Pretty good but did electro really die? I felt he was an awesome villian but not enough screen time nor a fleshed out reason to hate spiderman. Anyone think they will add in the story line of gwen's clone?

There were definitly one or two other times.
Like when he hears the "truth" about his parents from May.

By the way, speakig of Hyperbole, Tobys Peter Parker didnt cried really more...

(PS: Excited for Sinister Six - what is the plan at the moment? I know things always change, but I heard the the plan is 4 films. Is Sinister Six the next film or... across both?).

ASM 3 in 2016, ASM4 in 2018, Venom and Sinister 6 spinoffs before ASM4.

Saw this yesterday, and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. Spider-Man is just a lot of fun to watch on-screen, and they get his movements right!

Electro was shit (LOL at his terrible line), I feel like Jamie Foxx could have played him like Giamatti and DeHann did for their characters, totally way over the top and everything. But nope, he just decided to piss and moan about his fucking birthday which no-one gave a shit about (literally, lol).

Spider-Man is one of the best representations on screen, he cracks jokes, saves kids from bullies and is all-round a nice guy.

So, yes much better than the first ASM.

I didn't like this movie one bit and this is coming from someone who thought TAS 1 was pretty good, not mindblowing but a good enough entry.

Electro never felt like a seriously motivated villain, Harry Osborn / GG was almost shoved in for no apparent reason. Rhino's presence was downright insulting (trailer-bait).

The story was a little underwhelming, IMO. The Parker family's big secret wasn't all that Earth-shattering, the way Oscorp runs things is also pretty bizarre. Was Gwen fired from Oscorp when she searched Max's name in the corporate registry? And why they didn't follow her around? Did they pretend she didn't exist after she left the buidling? What if someone else just happened to search the name of that guy?

So I saw this last night and loved it, however what is the point of me seeing ASM 3 without my future wife in it...? :(

I liked the movie a lot, the actions scenes were really fun, looked incredible, humour was fine. The chemistry between the leads was really solid, especially Gwen and Peter made a nice couple. I think apart from the Green Goblin everything got enough screen time. His transformation and the way he crawled to his glider at the end was just weird. Same for Rhino at the end, somehow a guy in a Mecha-Rhino suit bothered me, it looked a bit off, made me cringe a bit when he started running towards Peter. I also dig that they already showed Peter somewhat moving on, that way we can skip a lot of the boring "I don't want to be Spiderman anymore" in the next movie.

All in all a very solid Superhero movie.
