IMO
I won't do a "best Prince albums list" but these are all required listens:

1999
Purple Rain
Diamonds and Pearls
Sign O' The Times
Lovesexy
Come
Love Symbol
The Gold Experience
Dirty Mind
Emancipation
3121
The Hits/B-Sides
Batman Soundtrack
Prince (self-titled)

Feel free to add to it.
Only albums I didn't really care for are Chaos & Disorder, Musicology, and LotusFlow3r.
Still not even half-way through his discography, let alone whatever is in the vault.

You are my new friend, having The Gold Experience on your list is awesome. I have met so many people who don't even know of that album.

RIP, Prince.

After Bowie's passing I had a think about what musicians' deaths could hit me the same way and I could only come up with McCartney and Prince. What a shit year.

Oh, Jesus, no. 2016 is just the year to fucking do that one too.

Stay strong, Paul! Go lift some weights and train with kung fu masters or some shit!

Feel even more thankful now that I saw him in Oakland a few months ago. He was also at a Golden State Warriors game (same arena he performed in) that same week. My seats aren't too far from where he was sitting courtside, was wild seeing him walk in with his cane and fro.

RIP.

My girlfriend caught him in both those places that week as well. She's completely devastated.

The Purple Year :)

Glorious reply.

RIP. One of the best quitar players in the world and easily one of the best live performers ever. Saw him in 2011 when he finally visited my country. Hands down the best live show I've seen and he wasn't even breaking a sweat. Prince, Bowie... not a good year thus far.

His work in the first half of the 90's was absolute GENIUS. Billy Jack Bitch, Pussy Control, Space, The Sacrifice Of Victor, D&P, THE LIST GOES ON. Just purely exceptional.

Man what a bummer. I remember when I started really paying attention to music around 9-10 years old the charts were dominated by MJ, Madonna and Prince. Cream and Diamonds and Pearls are two of the first songs I heard from him and I really liked them. My parents wouldn't buy me his albums because they weren't appropriate for minors apparently, but I still listened to what I could over the radio and on TV Hits every Saturday morning.

57, way too young. Gonna go crank some fuckin Prince.

JW's don't tell you that God will cure you if you have AIDS, infact they are big advocates of modern medical practices so that is obviously bullshit.

I didn't mean that people from that particular faith convinced him he was cured, I meant that if he is that heavily into a his religion, particularly one like JW which is pretty out there, it's not a stretch that he latched onto to some other weird beliefs.

i've been begging for over 5 years.

? It's a legitimate question based on the rumors from media take out. Don't be so quick to backseat mod.

I was also thrown off by a poster saying that earlier but then saw the media take out stuff. It seems like it could be a legitimate explanation to this.

Yeah it really annoys me when people disregard his early 90s/mid90s work. Even then he released a few bangers after that.

I'm seeing Paul live in a couple months and the guy still plays 3+ hour shows. Nature better not pull some shit on him. The scary thing is 2016 ain't even halfway over.

My jaw just hit the ground... this can't be real :(

R.I.P Prince

All the iconic figures from my generation (34) are dying.

I think it's hard to tell who's being sincere when that's said, tho.

Right, when I first saw that posted several pages ago I had the same gut reaction of WTF. Maybe I'm just trying to figure out a way to make sense of this sudden passing but to me it seems likely that those rumors were true.

Didn't even know he was in any condition to just pass away like that. 57 is still too young. This can't be!

Rest in Peace, Prince.
