Fuck, I don't want to believe this.

Been a fan for years and I just listened to Cream and Purple Rain a few weeks ago in a long time.

RIP, Prince.

This is so unfair, man. :(

Oh, and then there's the 12" versions of his singles.

"Kiss" becomes a completely different song after the 3 1/2 minute mark. Like, he slid across the mixing console to the edge of the board, hit a switch that said "exponentially funkier" and then pushed all the dials up.

And then it goes like that for another 4 minutes.

Yeah, listening to his work you realised he was almost stifled by the constraints of an album being finite, he just kept going and even the remixes he did were amazing.

Not to mention countless albums he wrote, composed and then handed off to other artists. Noon rendevouz, Nothing Compares 2 U, Manic Monday, the work he did for The Time and Vanity/Apollonia 6. The couple of Jazz albums he did were great too.

and perhaps an intended side effect. they'll need to go buy his physical records.

Heh, I was just out at a thrift store the other day and came up on Around The World in a Day, What Time is It, and Controversy in an As-Is vinyl bin.

Couldn't snatch that shit up fast enough.

The couple of Jazz albums he did were great too.

I didn't even know about the Madhouse shit until I looked up the samples to Hip Hop Doll by Digital Underground and was like "He's got a JAZZ BAND?"

WTF. I am not ready for this news.

Prince is - was, fuck - one of the greatest pop acts in the history of pop music. He was an incredible instrumentalist, an incredible vocalist, an incredible personality.... truly one-of-a-kind.

I can't even process this. RIP.

Listening to Sign o' the Times in tribute - right now I'm on "Play in the Sunshine" and it's making me emotional.

This year is just getting worse and worse. Such a shame, and such a sad loss. I think I first heard Prince's music in Burton's Batman, and fell in love with his voice ever since.

R.I.P.

Truly one of the greats

I loved Chappelle's story about this cover.

"That's a Prince judo move. You make of Prince in a sketch then he'll just use you on his album cover. What am I going to do? Sue him for using a picture of me dressed up like him? It's impossible!"

Thats great. Thats a great sense of humor on Princes part

Just the other day I was thinking I needed to expand my Prince LP collection. That might need to be put on the back burner now. Happened with Bowie and Jackson. The death tax on would be collectors for "vintage" vinyl is a real nasty thing.

"Prince makes surprise appearance at dance event 'to prove he's alive and well' hours after being rushed to hospital"

trips me the fuck out. I literally read this in the daily mail last night and was thining "huh, Prince, who's worried about Prince? He's good, right? Being healthy and religious and low key, etc."

Then to hear the news today.

sonofa... this is terrible news. he's one of the few artist that I really respect. just pure talent. dang 2016 keeps taking our beloved performers... RIP T_T

This video made me smile. All star line up and Prince just slays it whilst being the coolest motherfucker, throws his guitar in the air and walks off.

http://youtu.be/6SFNW5F8K9Y

my favorite part about that is that you can tell all those classic rock guys weren't fond of prince's tribute but then there's george's son with a shit-eating grin on his face just loving it. those other dudes were paying tribute as humans, being somber and all that. prince was paying tribute with his music.

prince is one of the very few guitar players who could make his instrument do whatever he wanted

Blows my mind how his music is like so hard to find online

He worked pretty hard to make that happen.

Prince said:
The internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it.

"The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good.

"They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."

Prince stance on how his music was available on-line was messy, it is know.

God, do I really need to get into TIDAL to get my stream of his anthems T_T

Purple Rain always makes me emotional, great song. Sometimes I wish the lyrics were a little bit better though (I still don't know what a purple rain is).

That Hall of Fame performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps blows me away every time. His guitar playing was fucking magic. His fingers don't even look like they're touching the guitar half the time! They're just floating on air, up and down the neck.
