Erotic City.
Great song but unfortunately I heard the George Clinton cover before I ever heard the original, so that is the one I prefer.

Such a downer though. A couple months ago one of the TV stations at the remote location I worked in was showing a Purple Rain all the time (they show the same movie on repeat for two days, then rotate to something else). I would put it on and just leave it all day while working or while I was in my room on a day off.
I remember listening to a lot of Prince when I was really really young. My aunt and mother both loved him and I can recall hearing a lot of his work while I was riding in the car with either of them.
He was such a slick dude, he just exuded 'cool.' He will be missed.

I couldn't agree more with Mr. Oizo.

Never went to an actual prince concert... will regret that now but I do recall late 90s.. seeing Kravitz live in Minneapolis with a friend. Middle of his set Prince appeared on stage and for 15 min destroyed anything musically that Lenny had been doing. We all pretty much wanted prince to stay and that other bum get off the stage.

Jaw dropping guitar work.

That doesn't really add up though. They don't accept blood transfusions but they're totally fine with any other medical treatment, and I certainly wouldn't expect anything as audacious as "God cured your AIDS" from them.

I read something about Prince refusing being in some photographs (I don't know based on what criteria) due to the "vanity" aspect of it, so it's possible he was particularly extreme/unorthodox about it.

He worked pretty hard to make that happen.

The internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it.

"The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good.

"They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."

This made me smile.

Wow, just got a text from my mom saying that we should go get some Prince albums and that she's very sad and misses him.

Definitely highlights how much of a legendary artist he was when his music could touch and influence people of all ages.

...And yes, I told her we can look up some stuff to get off Amazon.

The random ass fact that Prince was only 6 years older than Dr. Dre is blowing me away for some reason. The musical legends of my childhood are getting old man.

I cried when I first heard the news. Prince's death is up there for me with other celebrity deaths like MJ and Robin Williams.

RIP to a true legend.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.

Yeah, I had the same thought yesterday looking at the state of AC/DC: Malcom Young suffering from dementia and Brian Johnson being unable to perform anymore. The only immortals seem to be the Rolling Stones. They will probably rock the stage long enough until their minds can be uploaded into a computer.

I'm in complete shock. I never could have expected this news. I listened to him this morning for fuck's sake. RIP to another absolute legend. Prince and Bowie in the same year my heart can't take this. :(

I had my Advisory when one of my students told me. Couldn't believe it at first. She showed me. Teared up right then and there. Played Purple Rain over the Smart Board speakers rest of Advisory.

i've been begging for over 5 years.

A lot (all?) of it is, it's just not available for streaming on Apple Music or any other service besides Tidal.

It was removed last year or so from Spotify. Only a handful of tracks are on Spotify. Maybe five or six, like Nothing Compares 2U.

The best you can do is search for artists where he featured (basically his songs he gave to other artists, like Sheila E etc).

EDIT: sorry, misread that.

Cried a bit at work when I heard the news, not ashamed. I named my cat after Prince. His live shows were some of the best I'd ever seen - technically perfect, incredible showman with the crowd in the palm of his hands, never wanted to stop playing. He was a musical god for me and I'd preach the gospel to anyone that acted halfway skeptical in conversation. Don't get me started on the genius Prince.

Don't want to do much today, not sure I even want to marathon his music yet the way I did with Bowie and MJ. Dirty Mind is his best album. Fuck everything.

Yes, that's why I said it's not available on any streaming service except for Tidal. You can however purchase his music on iTunes.

Was never a fan of his music, but there's no denying what an incredibly gifted musician he was and a legend in the industry.

RIP :(

I saw Prince at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas several years ago. He was scheduled to go on at about 10:30, and in true diva fashion he didn't appear until roughly 12:30 in the morning.

It was standing room only, so we were nursing our aching feet and cursing the decision to even show up when Prince finally appeared on stage.

And then he played for over THREE HOURS and completely turned our minds inside out. He exuded remarkable talent in everything he did, from singing, to dancing, to playing like five different instruments. It was one of the most amazing things I've seen.

What a loss. :(

I only had a chance to see him in a smaller arena and it was awesome. Always wanted to goto another show - still glad I was able.to witness the power of his live show once.

Guy could really play guitar. Raspberry Beret was my favorite song of his. Haven't been this bummed since MJ died. Here's to his great career RIP.

He played a few shows in Oakland and San Francisco in the last 3 or so years. Probably should have got off my ass and went.

Yep. I'm not a big Prince fan and only know of Purple Rain (without looking it up). But even I know he was a big thing for the music industry.

RIP Prince.

Not just the music industry. He changed entertainment. Read up on him and his battles through the years. Like with Warner Bros.
