Good story. I'm I missing something though, it was a $25k G37 build, not a $250k GTR build.

He linked to the wrong story. The story on the Z forum was linked to the GT-R story on another board since it concerned the same shop.

Edit: Holy shit, these guys are literally down the street from my office.

So... what's the correct link?

the current (introduced recently) S3 has the 2.0l TFSI with 300hp output:
https://m.audi.de/?crl_hm=1&crl_men...o=rapop&crl_hm_js=1&&crl_o=rapop&crl_hm_js=1&

Right, heard a couple rumors floating around they were just going to work that motor further for the new rs3.

Granted we are FINALLY starting to see some impressive results form this gen's tsi(first 10 second run a couple nights ago, and another car trapping 130 with more left in it and off my old turbo no less...), but I would still much rather start off with an extra cylinder to play with.

You'll dazzle oncoming traffic otherwise. Halogen housings, even if they're projectors are NOT designed to accommodate the HID output and beam pattern.

Lol I give up on this thing. I've been reading up on it the last few hours, and there's just not enough good information to make a good decision so I'm canning this idea for now. I've dropped an email to my local Miata specialist(Track Dog Racing in Dallas) and ask their opinion on it. Hopefully, I'll get some good information and decide where to go from there.

Oh man. 2014 is going to be a good year.

These are some speculative sketches of the next TT:

tt-mk3-1-960x411.jpg

/nods

The current TT RS weighs 3300lbs, and Audi is looking to shed some weight off of that, too. Imagine 380HP at 3100lbs with Quattro *drool*

We'll see. Hopefully it does look like that, because personally I believe the current TT is pretty bleh, and very, I don't know, "not masculine" lol.

So we bought a used car today, its got 40k on it, 2011. My question is, should I bother with an oil guard underbody spray at this stage in the cars life? How about those car washes that spray the underbody, it would take a lot of the guard off I think, especially over time.

And lastly, whats the best way to maintain a rust free car?

Hmmm, anybody know where I can get wheels similar to the ones on this next gen TT?

Don't have a link off hand, but see plenty of tt/tts/ttrs reps on the vw forums I go on. Shouldn't be hard to track down. Just need the wheel name.

And if the next TT looks like that I would probably pick one up. mk3>mk1>>>>>mk2

That light of a car w/ APR stage 3/3+ would be bonkers. 127 trap with gtx3071, no hpfp, and a boost leak. They are now using a gtx3576. Assuming it is going to be ridiculously fast.

I just want everyone in the world to get to do an autocross or a track day in a sports car so they can get how badass cars are. Of course if you grow up in a city always driving in traffic you'll hate cars, cars suck for that, but what kind of weirdo could take a sportscar through a twisty mountain road and say at the end "Well that sucked."

I don't think that will do anything. Some people just don't "get" cars just as others don't "get" videogames or music. But for some people yes, it might work. Lots of them don't get the intricacies of driving and aren't aware of the "feel" of the car, the road and the inputs.

Aslo, every EV thread has to have a snarky ass anti-EV person. Both extremes are annoying.

That would be fantastic - it doesn't even have to be that specific wheel, just one that looks like it.

Speaking of annoying Prius owners, do you respect stupid parking space restrictions like families with children, hybrids only, etc? Because I sure as hell don't, only one I respect is the handicap spot of course. They are also unenforcable by the police, and the property owner won't bother to get a customer towed...

Hybrids: No. Doesn't make sense.
Families with children: depends on age. If the space has more room, could be useful for strollers, similar to handicap
Compact: Makes sense, get more parking spaces in an area.

I just realized that I can't tell what range, price or target any Mercedes is outside of that sneaker sized convertible and that box shaped SUV. Those are for gender neutral douchebags.

I lice in a fairly isolated bubble of civilization where most stores are locally owned. Lots of "electric vehicle only" signs which I definitely respect, as they have the proper outlets for them.

But I shit you not, 9/10 times they are occupied, it is a Prius. So much rage.

I was in a car accident a few days ago, unfortunately. I'm okay, and so is my wife. I pulled over on a highway because I wasn't feeling well. My wife came to my help, as did two cars behind me. In the middle of helping me, and minutes of no qualms or issues...a Lincoln Town Car taxicab came barreling down at us. He hit all of us on the road, hit my wife's legs (who miraculously only had some minor bruising) but sideswiped my Jag destroying the open driver door, pushing it into the front quarter panel (destroying that), denting the passenger door, and denting up the rear quarter panel as well. The entire car will be pretty much resprayed to ensure a full paint match.

Anyway, as a result of this...we've been driving her dad's Prius (we're still in NY, you see). It's such a dreadful thing. The Jaguar will be undergoing quite an operation, but by the very best money can buy (Martino Auto), a shop that specializes in Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and many exotics, complete with a frame damage machine that can bring a car's frame back to within 1/100 of an inch.

They've restored some insane cars, needless to say...we're talking 7-figure hypercars.

^Holy shit! Glad you're ok.

The Prius is a decent appliance, not a good car. Like a blender you find at Walmart. It gets the job done, but there is not much else to it.
I don't know how people can live with that interior and heartless drivetrain.

I havnt seen a Family parking spot yet, but I have seen at Toys R Us they have the Expectant Mothers parking spots.

Eh it's not so bad in LA traffic where all cars are equal on the freeways.

That is one shitty way to start a weekend. No wonder you're moving away :p

Good to know you (and everyone else) was relatively unharmed, minus the vehicles obviously.

That's insane - it's good that everybody is ok. How did the cab driver explain this???

I'm convinced the interior is made up of recycled David Hasselhoff vinyls

Thank you. Yeah, NYC's shoulder/safety lanes are a joke.

No idea. The police were talking to him the whole time while I was puking from the shock of it all (the impact finally swelled the urge that caused me to pull over).

Ey fuck you I'm drivin' here!

Alpha, think you'll be able to get lost value compensation?

I doubt it. The car was a lease (which is a HUGE relief to me, because I normally buy cars like the Z and 335 Coupe). So all I'll have to do is return it 3 years later and not worry. I leased the Jag for business reasons too, but JUST the day before all of this I was saying that if the car is trouble-free during its lease, I will buy it out - I love it that much.

Now? Not so much. But I do intend on another Jaguar for sure.

Get well soon Alpha, that sounds horrible.
Shame that the beautiful Jag got trashed instead of a crappy Nissan :)
But on the other hand, it's a good thing that your lease got trashed and not the car you own.

Also cab drivers are the worst, I make a point to never help them or let them through.

Wow, terrible stuff. I almost teared up when you said "hit my wife's legs", visuals of the worst case scenario flashed before my eyes, glad it wasn't anything that bad.

AlphaSanke, I hope everyone is ok. If you don't mind me asking what kind of car were you driving?

Edit:
Why do people hate on the Prius so much? I think it's a great car. And no I don't own one. But I'm quite jealous of friends who do. They fill up the tank once a month. I fill up the tank once a week! That's money I could be spending on my 636.

The concept of the Prius is the essence of every recent Toyota, aka "Zee car without sex appeal". Dunno about the USA, but Toyota in Germany stands for "the reasonable choice", a brand purely bought out of the head, not with the heart and/or groin. Adding and marketing an "environmentally friendly" motor/drivetrain to that image just fortifies it.

And yes, the Prius hybrid drivetrain is kinda lame; the Auris I picked up friday has basically the same one. Sole reason I got it because it was cheap as dirt (around 16.000EUR with about every extra) and I didn't want to have to set up my phone with two different MM systems ;)

But to be honest, achieving a high mpg can be similar fun as hooning around.

a new auris for 16.000?

Lots of company-related rebates, base price without rebates would have been around 25.000EUR.

ah too bad. well i hope you report here what you like and dont like about the gt86 and auris. i am looking into buying them too someday. the gt86 as my fun car and the auris, or the new mazda 3, as my daily driver.

I remember when their marketing tagline used to be "Nichts ist unmöglich".
