Yep. If they actually tried to replicate the MCU or lean into their goofy animated style they would be just as successful. Instead they feel some strange desire to make "serious" comic book movies that do well, but not MCU well.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the hell out of The Batman. It was a cool and different take on a character that's been done many many times before.

I'm cool with Batman being made dark and serious, because it suits the character, but where they went so wrong is thinking you can just take that attitude and make it work with any other DC character.

The DCEU was cursed the second they decided to emulate The Dark Knight's success with Man Of Steel, by trying to do the same thing again, and make it dark. The Dark Knight wasn't popular because it was dark. It was popular because it's a fucking incredible movie. The MCU isn't popular because it's light. It's popular because they made really decent movies, under a single creative vision.

DC should have carefully chosen the people to make their movies based on their talent (the way they did with Nolan)... not on their desire to make moody, 'adult' dark movies. They fucked it the second the hired Zack Snyder, and it's been a shit show ever since.

So basically it’s “ if don’t agree with me you are a racist “.
Same ole song and dance.
I deleted a longer reply, because what's the point? Tons of people disagree with me who I do not think are racist. I assume if you have little to no experience with being the target of racism, that you would have little to no clue on how to recognize it. Suffice to say, there are lead indicators, and an intolerance of tolerance is a huge red flag. I mean, we have the Ghostbusters thread, right? People are calling the 2016 movie Wokebusters. Why? Because it has women in it? Who really gives a shit? The 2016 movie had problems with the script and direction. The all-girl cast was not the issue, but calling it Wokebusters shifts that emphasis away from the real failings of the film, and instead dwells on a largely sexist complaint. That's the "woke culture" complaint in a nutshell.

If you really want people like me to not think you're racist for complaining about "woke culture," then maybe instead of throwing around a meaningless term, actually drill down to the root of the issue that you have with the subject that you're referring to as "woke." Then again, that would require much more thought than people with this predisposition are normally capable of.

tl;dr: Calling something woke is lazy and stupid. Come with a better argument, or don't mind me jumping to well-worn conclusions.

Uhh the Ghostbusters were a predominantly male space that was culturally appropriated by misandrists in 2016. Your actual intolerance is a huge red flag.

Didn't love the last 30 minutes.

What really stuck out for me was how the Riddler's first two victims get a very Saw-like, complex, riddle-based homicide.
Bruce Wayne? I'll just send a very obvious bomb in the mail.
I'm no Bruce Wayne, but even my boring ass wouldn't open a package addressed to me in crazy dude font.

And Alfred was not cautious? With history of Wayne family tragedy.
These packages don’t go thru any kind of inspection? Riddler has been on point with his targets up to that point but he’s just going to send a package which may not get to Bruce Wayne?
