Depends how picky you are. It's a pretty dark film and those suffer the most in streaming. But it will be better than hbomax for sure. Really disappointing.

I'm confident most people enjoyed this movie and put it right under the "Dark Knight Trilogy". There were moments that I found to be ridiculous, the standout being the hallway fight where nobody shot Batman in the face. Not to mention the cowl design was absolutely atrocious, even for an origin story.

I'm indecisive about it. I love the theater experience when it's empty and not many people.. but my setup at home is much better for clarity and sound.

I used to think that we needed theaters, but I'm always glad I waited when a movie I didn't see hits streaming.

Haven't seen it but ordered the steelbook version, which releases late May.
I don't like watching movies in the cinema. The picture quality is shit and the seats are likely infested with god knows what.

Sorry bruddah but NO. I love the movie theater experience. Only time it sucks are the uncommon crying baby scenarios. Though I only really experienced that on premier day/evenings. Impatient people(like myself) that had to see it right away even with a tiny life that requires more attention than what they have available for a movie premier.

99% of the time paying money to see a movie in a theater sucks because 99% of movies are made-for-china dogshit that sucks ass. We are not talking about actual art that deserves an "experience", like say a Broadway Musical or a Ballet. Saying that you need to see modern movies in a theater is like saying you need to rent out a theater to catch up on your Ford Truck commercials.

Most movies failed because Hollywood tried tried to squeeze a movie into just 1.5 hours. Of course not all movies need to be more than 2 hours long... with that said, there is a french movie from the 90's that is 5 hours long, now that is something...
The Soviet War and Peace from the 60s is over 7 hours.

i used to love going to the cinema and still do go if i really want to see a movie asap (saw the northman on friday) but i'd much rather chill at home and watch a movie. i find it so uncomfortable sitting in those chairs and you can't pause the movie if you need to go to the toilet or get more food/drink. then there is the issue of other people... which isn't really an issue i suppose if you wait a few days after release.
as for quality, i usually go to superscreen viewings where possible which have a much larger screen and better sound quality. it's not always an option though. i saw the northman on a standard screen and while the picture wasn't bad the sound was noticeably worse. i don't have an amazing set up at home but i'd rather chill on my couch/bed and watch on my OLED tvs.
then there is the cost. prices can range between ~£8-15 depending on time and screen. that's just for a ticket. a small drink and popcorn is about £8 but you could just bring your own stuff in which is maybe a few pound. i got a drink for 50p and crisps for £1.50. getting to the cinema is about £3 if i take a train. on friday i was £9 for parking and that was me going straight to/from the cinema and the car park is across the road. so in total i'm anywhere between £13-31. of course this is all just for one person. i was a total of £33 for me and a friend to see northman.
just let me stay at home and pay £15-25 to watch a movie on release day. it's better value and comfort.

I can understand all that, everyone is going to have different experiences at their cinemas. But day and day releases with streaming won't become the norm. It was only the "norm" during the pandemic because it's the only option studios had. There is too much money to lose if a film is released at the cinemas and on streaming at the same time, even for smaller indie films that are made for the theatre.
My wife and I take a 40 minute drive to see the majority of films. That cinema has 2 atmos cinemas and although the rest of their cinemas don't have atmos they have very clear and well calibrated screens and the sound is still better than my home system. Seats are great too. That's generally something we do on a weekly basis, we love the movies. We don't take any food to the cinemas and usually don't buy any food either, just buy a nice hot latte.
It's obviously going to be up to each individual person as well how much time and effort they want to put into searching for a suitable cinema.
And yeah, I'm really hoping I get back to Australia in time to watch the Northman because it's not showing and I doubt it will show in the Philippines which is where I currently am.
The problem with theaters has always been inconsiderate assholes, as long as there's people in the room with me, no matter how good the tech is, being in my house alone to enjoy the movie will always be the superior experience.

Watching it a second time now that it's on HBO Max. Man, this is so close in spirit to the Batman I grew up reading in comics (a bunch of second hand issues from the 90's). No other on-screen portrayal of Batman has captured the inner dialog he has with himself the same way Reeves and crew did in this. Damn near perfect Batman movie that most definitely respects the source material more than previous entries.

First movie I really enjoyed in ages. A bit disappointing finale but the rest was really good, Pattinson redeemed, the whole cast killed it and guaranteed oscar nominee for cinematography.
Also well worth a monthly HBO max sub to watch it at home, I absolutely hate cinemas and after seeing DUNE in imax I only imagine myself going to a theater ever again if my girlfriend forces me.

Rewatching this is still very enjoyable even if it's an extremely slow burn at times, but I find myself losing all attention whenever some Selena backstory is up. It's just not interesting whatsoever and takes up too much time.
Movie also loses all pace and momentum for a good 30 minutes after the car chase sequence.
First 40 minutes or so are S-tier.

About to watch this now. Seeing as how long it is, I'll probably watch it over two nights, unless it totally blows me away.
edit: Or maybe not. Crave TV (for us Canadians) has got to be the shittiest streaming service there is, with stuttering and playback errors.

I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago and didn't know, lol.
Enjoyed the movie and will watch again but so far I think I enjoyed the Nolan trilogy the most.

- The muzzle flashes is way overblown. You expect to hit a moving target in the head in a pitch black dark hallway? fucking hell
- The cowl = Its an origin story lol. Nothing is perfect. The movie even shows him fucking himself up in a wingsuit landing. Christ

Catwoman was better than expected, too bad we don't see her performing more gymnastic.
Riddler was good and the acting of Dano was great imo, but I think Joker will be the real deal. Here The Riddler felt a bit... low key, idk how to put it.
Will watch it again in a month or so, to get a definitive opinion.

I liked the movie, I enjoyed the noir theme the movie had, neo gothic architecture was great. Not a masterpiece but for a Comic hero movie, the slower narrative and focus on image frame was really refreshing.
Not a fan of Cat Women, somehow from Michelle's Pheiffer and Anne Hathaway performances, the character for this movie just seemed bland... also yeah let me scratch his face with my fake drag queen nails... nah
Also first time somehow made the Riddler seem really menacing. Not even the games managed to do that.

He's my favourite actor right now. He was great in The Lighthouse/Good Time, even Tenet.

Watched it yesterday, dunno if it was due to me being kinda drunk or what, but I found it kinda dragging a bit towards the end? Riddler didn't grab me as a villain, too. Cinematography was great, though. Honestly wouldn't put it past nolan movies.

If Nolan's trilogy was mostly inspired by Miller, than this is definetly inspired by Snyder's comics.
This movie felt a lot like mixing Court of Owls with Zero Year, the end makes me think that they might try to merge Zero Year with Death of the Family.
Anyhow, i loved it.

Finally saw this. It was great. Loved the more street level Batman. Its a slow burn but the pace at which the conspiracy in the story unfolds is so well done. Pattinson was great as Batman but I wouldve liked a different Bruce Wayne. The contrast between the two make the character. Still, best Batman since The Dark Knight.
