You know they will. I am waiting for the "I am selling my launch switch after finish Zelda" threads

Yo did you see that thread along the lines of "I'm glad Nintendo stuff doesn't go down in price, it's like an investment."

Lmao people are going to buy multiple switches to diversify their investment portfolio

Monthly Nes and Snes games are supposed to be the added value for a sub fee? The hell are they doing?

Of course they will. We've seen enough console launches with "controversial" features, Nintendo and otherwise, to know not to take initial reactions serious. As long as the games are there (the biggest problem for Nintendo), gamers will get used to it and eventually defense forces will be made/they will praise it.

Paid online has become commonplace for long enough that I don't really consider it to be controversial. I usually treat my Nintendo consoles as a single player or local multiplayer experience so it probably won't matter to me until Mario Kart and Smash.

Like I said they know people will pay for it regardless.
Yeah but that group keeps getting smaller and smaller.

I shook my head so hard, it is amazing what people will talk themselves into. It is a luxury you don't have to justify to nobody but yourself. Folks out their mind when they think they are being noble and rightous over some video games.

Yeah when I started paying for PS+ when I got my PS4 I just accepted that paid online was here to stay. It's both good / bad that Nintendo decided to hop on it sooner rather than later. Kinda dicey given their online services track record...but who knows, maybe it will be significantly cheaper?

Anyways, I just woke up to get my Switch pre-order in. I think I got one from Best Buy. Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled. It's too expensive ($400 CAD, really??) but it literally comes out on my birthday so that's my excuse.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
Knowing the fanbase Nintendo has, do you guys think people will just buy into the online and largely keep quiet like when Sony adopted PS+ as the key to using their online service? I dunno.

The problem with Nintendo's service is that the value proposition is so damn low. It's not like there are tons of games to play online in the first place, so it's basically just a monthly fee to play Splatoon 2 for the foreseeable future. Add to that the fact that the Ps Plus style free games on offer seem to be just month long rentals of old-ass games, and the fact that most communication features apparently have to go through an external phone app, and I have no idea how they're going to justify this.

I'm guessing, for the most part, the complaint will be paying for yet another online gaming service. I think most gave PS+ a bit of a pass because a large amount of PS3 owners already used the service. Regardless, those loyal folks who are buying the system for their Nintendo 1st party games aren't gonna give shit..they go wherever the company takes them.

We all got that thing we just go for. Nothing wrong with that. Just gotta understand why others are like, nah, fuck that

I got to the preorder screen on the Target site and turned around. With both the Switch and Breath of the Wild, it'd come out to between $380-$390, and I want both, but not that bad, at least not right now. I can wait.

yep, you get one NES OR SNES game to play for a month they take it away

I'm gonna tell ya'll right now, all of you are gonna catch these hands when I pick up a Nintendo switch and ARMS. Also Breath of the Wild looks incredible.

Also, what's up everyone?

This is the only disappointing news of last night to me. This shit better be no more than 20 bucks a year cause retro game rentals aren't gonna cut it.

I think this is why they're not charging anyone until the holiday

- 300$ Base Price

- 80$ Controllers

- Paid Online for a company that BARELY adds online to their games let alone had a shoddy ass system when it was free

- Bony ass launch lineup when they fucked this up from Wii -> Wii U last gen

The negatives of this system are ridiculous. IDK how someone let this slide.

Is it me or is Ninty's online player count gonna drop off a fckin CLIFF due to paid online... What the hell were they thinking.... We gonna see player counts in the hundreds in some games now... Damn

No more trading in Pokemon. No more battling. No more wonder trading. Maybe no event only mons. I just need Game Freak to come out and say they are exempt from it. :(

I wanted this system for Pokemon and Smash. Those games are pretty much useless without online. I haven't even resubbed to PS+ on my PS4 yet, why the hell would Nintendo think Im gonna pay for online for 2 games. This really sucks ass

It'll hurt their online player count but people who wanted to buy the console for the games will do so anyway. Breath of the Wild will probably keep people sated until close to Q3.

That is one bare bones launch.
Yeah, that's biggest weakness of the system right now. Not enough system sellers but Zelda Mario and Splatoon 2 are heavy hitters spread out through the year. Could of use some big 3rd party exclusives. Like where the hell is Capcom with a monster hunter game? I would have been excited for a upres version of Double Cross even. Square Enix support boils down to a retro style rpg which looks nice but that's not gonna get people to buy the system. I would have went for a 3rd bravely game. Namco and Sega just got ports. It's almost like 3rd parties are being really cautious with the system
