No but it is to everyone's advantage to have a competitive industry.
I agree. I think the improvement in online gaming, for consoles, is due to MS. So ultimately, we need them. But on the flip side, if PC devs and pubs can support free online, then it just tells us that the competition argument is flawed with MS.

I'll be rooting for PC games.

But MS did me a solid. The released two shitty pieces of hardware and pushed me to PC games.

Asian Last Names Lead To Fewer Job Interviews, Still

Pakistani or Chinese origin — were 28 percent less likely to get called for an interview compared to applicants with Anglo names, even when all the qualifications were the same. Researchers used data from a previous study conducted in 2011 where they sent out 12,910 fictitious resumes in response to 3,225 job postings. The previous study, also in Canada, similarly found that applicants with Anglo first names and Asian last names didn't fare much better than applicants with Asian first and last names.

A two-year study published in the Administrative Science Quarterly Journal found that Asian job candidates in the U.S. were almost twice as likely to receive a call back if they whitened their resumes by changing their names and excluding race-based honors and organizations. (The same was true for African-American candidates).

The kind of discrimination described in the study often goes unnoticed because statistics often portray Asian-Americans as doing quite well — one of the best educated, highest income racial groups in the United States. But such statistics belie the fact that they're still not treated equally in comparison to their white counterparts. What's more, data on Asian-Americans is rarely broken up sufficiently so that it differentiates between Cambodian-Americans and Korean-Americans. That level of generalization can skew perceptions of how parts of the population are doing in certain regards.

debated making this one it's own thread, but knowing how OT is...

So.

I'm sitting at my parents' church because our family ain't bout having the family matriarch out after dark with no escort in this political and social climate (look out for your elders). In any case, there's suddenly a dozen little kids around and I'm out here laughing my butt off cause they just diming their parents out about everything. Like straight up putting all their business out in the street. Also, I met an old friend's daughter and she's adorable. I absolutely understand the impulse to pinch cheeks.

Switch could have atleast launched with that new New York Mario
The biggest game being on another system loses them some sales
Especially the difference being so low

Or they don't care
I never understood anything Nintendo did😅

Nintendo fucks up, but they succeed too. I mean, people can complain about the lack of info (which is valid) but they wouldn't be getting so much attention if they did things like Sony and Microsoft. Plus, there's a damn good chance that a good number of the nerds on this site are venting their anger to IRL people
(when they are brave enough to talk to them)
which means they are staying in the conversation.

More to the point, the people who have a Wii U that would want Zelda at launch are the same people who have the Switch preordered.

I would think the logic would be more like hardcore zelda fans and WiiU owners are like a 1:1 ratio- so why wouldn't those people simply buy breath of the wild on the console they already own, rather than shelling out $360 to play it on Switch?

*Hardcore nintendo fans

Hardcore Zelda fans had no Zelda on Wii u till now and and if some of them didn't own the system because of this then they would be getting a switch

But those people with a Wii u already in a different boat

is there really a significant distinction between "hardcore zelda fan" and "hardcore nintendo fan?"

I don't think there is.

It's like saying "hardcore mario fan." Same shit. There's a huge amount of crossover between people that enjoy zelda games, mario games, smash brothers games, and mario kart. They're the same damned people.

The dude that got me into Nintendo didn't even buy a Wii u as he was still waiting for Zelda. But I see your point

Leaving behind the hardcore folk there is still a huge amount of people who are casual and own the system. Even if they are hardcore gamers they aren't blind to whatever Nintendo drops and would get the Wii u version since the difference isn't much. I'm sure you've seen many all over GAF and here. Getting these people to up and drop money on the Switch ain't gonna happen on atleast launch

I have a confession: I went into a GameStop a few days ago and asked for 12 Nintendo Switches. He said "That's Impossible." I asked "Why?" "He said they're for pre-order cause it's not even out and even if they were he couldn't let me buy 12." I was like "For real doe?" and he looked at me weird and repeated "For real." I then left.

As cool as this new skin is, I'm a little worried that the game is slated to release sometime this quarter but we don't have a solid release date yet. Apparently it's because they're waiting to clear console certification.
