I ahven't seen the movie, but teh trailers were WTF. How fuck can he go from picking cotton to yelling at his Black Panther son. Was he trying to cram 200 years of being black in America into one movie?

That's what Lee Daniels does. He takes the big picture and distills it down to a single character. He did the same thing with Precious. I know the hood can be a dispicable place, but being illiterate, severely obese, raped by your dad, physically abused by your mom, disgusted with your skin color, impoverished, a teen mom and your baby's daddy is your daddy - oh yeah, your baby got down syndrome too - and you and your baby were given HIV because of your rapist dad? Ain't nobody's life that fucked up.

His movies are just misery porn. And to answer your question, they literally crammed about 150 years of the black experience in one character. Spoilers:

He worked on a cotton farm under a cruel master. His mom was raped and his dad shot in the head by the cruel master. He was then taken in by the kind mistress and transformed into a 'House Nigger.' He runs away and is taken in by an elder house nigga at an upscale hotel, and under him he hones his craft. His son becomes radicalized in college; joining under James Lawson, and apparently was a part of every marquee civil rights moment including sit ins, being arrested with Dr. King, having his bus burned down by a mob of southern racists/the KKK, etc. He eventually joins the Black Panthers, but leaves when it becomes too violent, and finishes college - eventually becoming a congressman. His other son joins the Army and dies in Vietnam. His wife dies shortly before Obama is inaugurated as President.

To put it simply, it was fucking ridiculous. Pretty much 95% of the movie is 100% made up bullshit.

Actually... that's a really good comparison.

I can't help but watch movies like 12 Years a Slave and The Butler, and think to myself that it'd be awesome to have these casts in a movie without slaves and servants. Yeah, 12 Years a Slave was fucking amazing, and it's great to finally see a Hollywood slave film by a black filmmaker, but man... I'm kind of done with these types of films. Can't we do something other than romantic comedies and gut wrenching racism exposés? And if you insist on doing a slave film, do something interesting... like a Nat Turner or Toussaint L'Ouverture/Hatian Revolution film. Or Richard Allen's founding of the African Methodist Episcopal Church....

I cant get down with that heavy handed bullshit from Daniels. 12 years a slave was an amazing film, shit had my heart bleeding for patsy. Great performances all around.

After reading that thread....those people have to be under the impression that the women's pussy drives men insane and despite being aware of that, she seduces as many men as possible. I'm glad this monster is finally contained.

Some super delicate types who feel a certain type of way when a women cheats on a complete stranger and then that strangers tortures her and kills a man cause he supposedly fucked his wife, according to his wife who would undoubtedly say anything to stop being tortured. And they empathize with the murdering torturing man.

Well, to be fair, he was right to be pissed, and if she hadn't cheated none of this would have happened, but torturing the wife and driving 150+ miles to go murder the guy might be just a bit much. And by a bit much, I mean completely and utterly psychopathic.

Also let's be real, he probably would just end up killing someone else down the line, probably her.

If the facts were accurate then that dude was a fucking psychopath. Say your girl cheated, I can understand being upset but depending on the circumstances time for him to step out and fuck who he wants or leave. But this motherfucker pulled a goddamn Guantanamo and then after getting info he sojourned a 100+ miles to murder a man. Throw his ass under the goddamn jail. Pussy don't turn a man that nuts unless that fucker had tendencies in the first place. This mother fucker let rage build over all them damn miles and not once thought of the millions of ways to alleviate that anger over all that time. Motherfucker should have had a snickers.

I cheated on my girl with a married broad, she found out years later and we split for three months. She told the chicks husband, he tried to get in my face on my job and I dehumanized the living fuck out of him. The whole time this piece of shit wasn't mad that his wife cheated but angry that she was "fucking a nigger". I laughed in his face. And my girl and I moved on. It happens folks.

I'm at my parent's house for another week. The baby mama just dropped our kid off and said he has to go the doctor's at 2... His doctor is an hour and half from my parent's but 10 mins from her house. WHY DID SHE DROP HIM OFF? Oh, she has a headache.
