Actually since we're on the subject, I want to know what you guys who like anime think about how black people are depicted and how their roles are written. I've noticed that more and more black characters are being shown in japanese manga and anime as supporting characters and not people in the background.

As for Japan and racism they are a weird people they have what i like to call naive racism where they are very blunt about asking you questions about things but it's in the most innocent of ways.
I remember when we had some Japanese students over and we were their guides around london. In the first five mins of meeting them one of the guys asked me if i played basketball as all black guys did. :lol

Honestly I feel the Raikage is a better presentation in Naruto than KillerBee. Is it really just those two in Naruto for black characters?
Aokiji from One Piece is the first black anime/manga to pop into my head when I think about the matter.

I think that whole village is supposed to represent america because their village is ethnically mixed. Between black and white.
I didn't know aokiji was black. Maybe he's darker in the manga? in Naruto the black characters are lighter in the anime.
Also We can't talk about anime without mentioning one of the most badass black anime characters ever created
EDIT:
also, now that I think about it, it would make sense that japanese are starting to get used to black people. Many japanese people travel to brasil.

Speaking of videogames, do you guys feel like we're not shown that often in videogames? We rarely get games with black protagonists, but the black supporting characters are usually interesting.
