Speaking of which, and call me retarded, I just went to Gamestop and discovered this is a launch-ish title for 360. There were screens on the back of the fake box - anyone know if those are from 360 version?

i havent seen this box, but next gen burnout doesnt come out till next year!

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/635/635012p1.html

An Electronic Arts spokesperson told IGN today that a version of Burnout Revenge will ship to Xbox 360 in 2006, countering previous statements made by the company.

Confusing the matter, Criterion's fourth games in the series is erroneously posted on EBGames.com and GameStop.com as shipping this November to Xbox 360, which EA denied. Both sites list Burnout Revenge as a pre-order item including a release date of November 11, 2005.

"There will be a next gen title [in the Burnout series], but not this year," an EA spokesperson told IGN.com. No further details -- from the kinds of additions, timing, price, etc. -- were revealed.

The screens on the back of the box were small, but they looked AMAZING.

Waits for someone to point out those are PS2 or Game Boy screens...

1/2 is a placeholder date for games that GS and EB often use.

I understand that, but it has a Sku attached to it, not just 990000, also, there is a vid of a burnout on that net that is clearly not from this generation, they are on the highway or something to that effect

What are the differences between the Xbox and PS2 versions?

I had burnout 3 on xbox but i sold the box. I briefly played 3 on ps2 though and noticed the loadtimes sucked.

Y'know, I wasn't really satisfied with BO3. I got OutRun 2 and TOCA at the same time so it made it hard to play for some reason.

The tracks weren't as good as BO's tracks, and the traffic was pretty sparse I thought. You go fast...yes, but you aren't really weaving in and out of traffic at a crazy pace.

But these shots look soo good!

Damn...

NICE!

PSP this week and 360 version once its hits.
Forgot about 360...

Wonder what it will look like? I mean, right now, it looks MUCH better in motion than Full Auto.

It honestly scares me what they could do on 360. PS2 being the obvious target for the Renderware, imagine what they could do on something that is 5 years more advanced :)

Yeah where the hell are the impressions. It's like everybody was going to get it, yet suddenly forgot....

The game only shipped today. Won't be in stores until tomorrow.

I'm supposedly getting it tomorrow but there's always people who get it the day before. I find it very strange. I think I'll go pick up NHL2006 and ALI G S2 and make another round at EB/Futureshop just in case.

gamestop's automated service just called about legends being in tomorrow... but not revenge?

seeing as i'm not picking up legends and putting that reserve money towards something else :lol

I got my Revenge in the mail today.

Going to bust that shit like mad as soon as I get out of work.....but then again the new patch was released for WoW....

So, has anyone picked this up - or is everyone at work?

Got the call from EB this morning that the PS2 & PSP version is waiting for me to pick up. As soon as my 1:30 status meeting is over with I'm outta here.

So I played this all night.

I'm Rank 4 and I'm totally digging it.

Quick Impressions:
The Rubber banded AI is back, no worse or better than burnout 3. Yes it can be annoying at times, but its necessary.

They changed Eliminator so that cars are eliminated every 30 seconds instead of every lap. Makes this SOOO much more intense.

Speaking of intense, the AI has been improved. I find them much more agreesive, and they slam me intelligently into oncoming traffic / columns.

The new Crash mode so far is lots of fun they used the fact that you can bump traffic to give you the opportunity to make some crazy crashes. Like, bump some guy up top start a crash, keep going, nail a ramp and blow up some shit down below. As traffic crashes it builds up a boost meter, when it hits 100% you can explode. So far I'm digging it.

The new Traffic Attack mode is fucking fun. Basically it starts you out with a timer thats counting down, every car you nail scores you time and money. Every time you finish a lap it gives you a multiplier 1lap = 2x, 2lap = 3x. Also each lap there are less and less cars. This mode seems a little...unteseted because I can double the GOLD requirement every time. But its definetly my favorite mode so far.

So far I've only been able to use Crashbreak in a race Once...I'm not sure how I did it or why I was able to use it. I DO know this though. If you use crashbreak in a race and you DON"T HIT ANYONE then you lose ALL of your boost. I think you can only use it if you have 4x Boost bar.

FINAL SUMMATION:
when I went to bed last night my eyes were like too sphere's of red pain. I realized I was forgetting to blink when I played. I'll definetly be playing this for a few days.

I'll edit if I think of anything else

i wont get mine till after work, but for anyone with the xbox verison...

do custom soundtrack settings stay?

do custom soundtracks play during crash mode?

can you input initials for high scores in crash mode?

I just got Legends. The game doesn't seem as fast as Burnout 3. The graphics are not anywhere as good as Ridge Racer, but the game is very fun. Seems like Burnout 3 with downgraded graphics on the PSP. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but if that is not what you are looking for, then get something else. I did the double dip and played some of Revenge. Awesome game, though the menus seem a bit confusing. The graphics look great, the game looks just sleeker. But still the same old fun of BO3.

So I guess the best way to say it is this: Legends is portable BO3 with worse graphics and Revenge is BO3 with better graphics.

For me, I am a bit disappointed in Legends. It has a 'been there, done that' feel to it. It probably will be going back by the weekend.

Seems like it will improve...

Part of what makes Burnout...well, Burnout, is its incredible sense of speed. And Legends doesn't disappoint on that front. The first few cars go fast, but not fast, so you might initially think that the PSP game got the short shrift. That notion will quickly traipse its way out of your head once you start unlocking the faster cars, as some of the higher-end vehicles go some kind of ridiculous fast.

Burnout Legends is certainly a great portable version of the excellent console series. The mix of old and new alike provides a great Burnout experience for both new and old fans. While first-time Burnout gamers who are torn between picking up Burnout Legends for the PSP or Burnout Revenge for either Xbox or PS2 may want to go with the latter, Burnout Legends is the perfect remedy for those who want to do a little burning while on the road.

There you have it

Revenge is incredible. If you loved Burnout3, Revenge tops it. The game looks incredible in 1080i on the xbox. Racer of the Generation! This generation just cant this year :(

Just picked it up.

I have to disagree (after 20 minutes). Graphically, this game destroys Ridge Racer. The sense of speed and graphics are incredible. Interestingly, I'm least impressed with the graphics during the slow motion crashes.

I was on the fence, because I've already had a few racers for the PSP. I'm no longer concerned. The immediacy of the gameplay has me hooked again. I noticed the load times a bit when I first started, because everyone at the local EB wanted me to whip out my PSP and load up the game. Not sure if it was just performance anxiety or not though.

But, it is incredibly satisfying to be playing a game 30 seconds after you bought it.

They also had Revenge running on the Xbox in store. It recognized their Madden save and gave them the Madden Van. Another reason to look forward to Madden PSP next week :D

Wait a second, 1080i?

Is this true? Does the XBOX version support resolutions above 480p? I had decided on the PS2 version as I preferred the visual effects, but if the XBOX version is in high-res, well, I'm very interested. I've never heard of that, though...
