The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

Reaaaaaaaaally not sold on the bullet sponge shooting.

During the press event, they leveled them up to 20 at one point and gave the. Really good gear and opened up their talents.

Even the enemies with armor above their health were going down relatively quickly compared to this early footage we've seen.

Are you for real? Or paid in full? This has nothing to do with genre. This is not selling me as a Role Playing Game. It's a shooter with equipment upgrades and base building elements 'Go there, shoot that, and get stuff' is hardly comparable to games that require you to make meaningful choices that have consequences to a narrative. Trying to pass it off as such is absurd.

So by your notion World of Warcraft is not an RPG. I can get that you find it hard to wrap your head around an RPG with shooter elements set in the present day, but please what you are saying now is complete and utter nonsense in regard to what an RPG is, unless you've been living under a rock for the past 10 years.

Very few faces and hair types, I wonder why. Can't be that hard to put some guys from the 1000 studios Ubi has around the world to work in the character creation editor.

It's almost like you didn't listen to the video where it was explicitly stated the beta only had small selection of options and the full game will have more.

It's worth pointing out that in the video the guy did mention he asked and the devs clarified this would be for the beta build, there would be alot more stuff at launch.

But I believe the logic is that most players will be wearing a mask of some sort the majority of their time in the game, due to it being an actual piece of gear that has value, similar to Destiny.

Still though, would prefer some more extensive customization, hopefully it's something they address before launch.

Can't speak to their gear as this is an RPG, but in the Jack Frags video they were melting down pretty quick relatively to other videos we have seen.
Not really getting that from his latest Division video either. He talks about time to kill and sponginess here, and while he mentions that the TTK has been reduced since the last time he played it, the game still has long kill times, extremely spongy bosses, and that without headshots enemies can take multiple clips to drop, even when depicted as not wearing much of anything in the way of protection.

Are you referring to a particular video I could check out?

As an aside he also mentions how the game is a real shooter because you can use suppression fire to keep enemy heads down. I have a hard time squaring that against any of the footage I've seen of the gun combat. Anybody know whats up with that? Is suppression a canned skill that stuns enemies behind cover or something? Because I haven't seen any AI reactions to player fire except the occasional flinch and then crumpling when dead.

That's why I was careful to use the word 'relatively.'

Just an observation I made going from Angry Joe's video to level 20 Jack Frags gameplay.

I stopped watching the Battlefield streamers because they got too friendly with publishers due to EA's handling, Jack Frags, Level Cap, Rival, etc are all extremely biased.

I don't get it
Oh, I thought you gave me the tag, since you were the only mod active in that thread.
Must've been someone else.

I think he was suggesting I'd get banned for my twink definition. *Shrugs
Nah, I was worried I'd get my tag changed to something worse given that definition.
That's how I got it in the first place.

They havent said anything yet.
They said at E3 that they would take advantage of each console's power, and I believe someone asked if that meant 900p for XBO and 1080p for PS4 and they said yes.

Based on your tag it seems clear it's a common theme that at least suggests your less than objective when it comes to the sanctity of Ubisofts titles. Also quit with trying to pass this off as an RPG. If you think levels and loot are essential aspects of what qualifies a game as an RPG then I think its fair to say your real world experience of them is at best limited. The D&D model is certainly one of the most prevalent, especially within cRPGs because its easy to code for but it by no means the only model. Classic RPG titles like Traveller never had character levels or obsessed about pickups.
Actually have a quarter jar for whenever someone on this site references my tag which has absolutely nothing to do with discussion. Considering that you don't consider Souls an rpg either it seems you have an incredibly limited view of what makes a game an RPG. I've played a shit ton of RPGs btw. The Division is absolutely an RPG. Heavy customization, a ton of variables in stats affecting gameplay, weapon customization making a huge difference in damage output, level gating, a blank slate character, etc etc. It's already been proven multiple times what the devs intentions are but so far you've done nothing but say "That's not what an RPG is tho." According to rules that only apply to you.

Think that assumption was made then. Wich is logical offcourse. But they never said anything further about resolutions. Only thing i believe we heard was that leak from Tidux in february 2015 saying the One version was 900p and PS4 1080p.

I preordered the PC version for 27€. I'm pretty sure it'll give me my Destiny loot fix till Destiny 2 releases.

If some friends pick it up,i'll co-op the hell out of it and if not, I'll go solo agent through the whole thing.

Honestly,I just REALLY want to explore that New York city during the winter. I LOVE winter settings and I want to see what went down during the epeidemic in this.

In a way, this is more exiciting for me to explore than say Venus or Mars in Destiny, because it's "real".

We've been discussing their possible inclusion as DLC.

Where did you pre-order it from?

I'd give up with this guy, he still calls it a Ubisoft title while completely ignoring the team behind it. All hope is lost.

Should be a realistic damage setting.

I am totally fine with the current damage setting. I can see them looking into modding some boss health but everything works fine for me. My main interest in this game is the RPG system of it. I very commonly play as a support class so I will be in the back dishing out heals and buffs.

Looks to be aiming for the same group of people that like Destiny, but the gameplay doesn't looks as fun, and the gunplay doesn't looks as satisfying (hard to tell when you haven't played it). Don't think this is a game for me at all but I could see it selling pretty well. Online shooter with rpg and loots mechanics is pretty much a recipe for success atm.

I feel that while Destiny is more focused on the actual shooting and shooting properly and such and sometimes using an ability, Division is more focused on using your abilities and using cover/flanking to take out groups/bosses.

Getting a very different vibe from the two games.

I think the problem is less of a matter of damage numbers and more of the complete lack of the AI's reaction to gunfire. It just doesn't look very satisfying.

Compare that to how enemies in Destiny stagger back when shot.

Well, they do depending on where and how hard you hit them.

Also the yellow bar enemies usually give a shit about you shooting them unless you are hitting them in the head with the craziest damage gun you have.

Looks like I'll be taking advantage of Amazon Prime's pre-order discount for this. Now I just need to decide if the Gold edition is worth the extra money.

does anyone know if I buy the non digital copy on amazon for pc, can i link it to my steam via a product activation in steam? How does that work?

I was hoping that ultra settings on PC might be slightly closer to the E3 demo but from screenshots I have seen it's still way off. I am sure some talented modder will mod the PC version so it looks like the E3 build - there was a Watch Dogs mod that did the same thing.

I know jackfrag is uploading a 50 min video today but I kept hearing that there was an hour long video he has up of the Division. I only see a 10 minute video or did someone misspoke?

Considering that you don't consider Souls an rpg either it seems you have an incredibly limited view of what makes a game an RPG.

I actually explained why it isn't with a pretty clear rationale. You simply saying 'no it is' isn't in fact much of a counter point.

WoW is more of an RPG than The division is for sure because everything is character based. I've not played WoW in years though since launch so I can't comment on it's overall veracity with regard to its narrative side.

I explained why it is, the devs did as well, and the people who've actually played it also agree. It's an RPG. You're creating strict rules that aren't actually applied to the industry. "It doesn't have narrative choice like the witcher 3 so it's not an rpg" The same logic that you use to state that DS isn't an RPG either. It makes very little sense. At this point you're the only one saying "it's not an RPG" despite the devs and people who have first hand experience saying otherwise.

I look at The Division as a third person team based cover shooter but with a strong and heavy dose of RPG elements.

The Bloodborne/Souls games are what I consider to be action hack and slash RPG's.

Either way, The Division is a game im looking forward to playing starting with the Beta. Just wish they would announce all the season pass content because as someone who lives in Brooklyn, NY, I definitely want to know if that season pass includes Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island.
