The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

New PC screenshot leaks look everything from very low settings to high.

Guess I will find out myself at the Beta and Release how it looks.

Soon... so very very soon.

Would pre ordering from Amazon get you into beta? (PC)

Yes, many people have ordered just for the beta code.

amazon says beta access not allowed for digital versions..

Order the physical version just for the beta

Biggest problems for me are how flat the lighting is and how washed out all the footage has been. Hopefully it's bad captures etc but we'll see.

I saw some footage, I think it was jackfrags even, that had proper colors and wasn't washed out. I fully believe it's a capture setting thing.

It will def perform better than the consoles. Thebiggest worry would be whether or not it maintains a playerbase. Thats always a huge problem for multiplatform pc games

Well my decision depend on wether my friend are getting this on PS4 or not. Other than that, I want the best experience as possible. Online play is a part of this, i'm hoping the community on PC will be worth while.

Can you please me tell me what is your notebook? I never saw such setting in notebooks yet.

It's a rebranded Clevo notebook. The company I ordered it from assembled the components I wanted.

It really depends on your resolution. You have a pretty damn good laptop and a good VRAM variant of the GTX 970. I could see high happening, with a mix of lower AA, no Nvidia PCSS shadows, and no HBAO+. High has a good chance, ultra no - all assuming if your resolution is sub-1080p.

Thanks for your reply, I'm aiming for 1080p. I just wish I could try out the game on my notebook before I actually buy the game.

Your best bet will be the beta to sort of get an understanding of it's potential performance on your laptop, of course you can account for some better performance overall with proper driver support and maybe the devs adding some optimizations during this final month.

It still boggles my mind how a game can go from looking like a Crysis 2007 game, to literal shit tier in a few years. Even the Witcher 3 downgrade wasn't this bad.

I guess those early rumor leaks about the devs getting pressured by the publisher to make it on par with the console to make them not feel bad is true after all.

Will PS4 beta be open, or do I have to hunt for a key?

You need a key.

Gaf is my notebook gonna be able to to run this game on high settings (60fps)?
I'm seriously considering getting The Division for PC instead of the PS4 version.
i7-6700HQ
GTX 970M (6gb)
16 GB DDR4

Disclaimer: I have almost no experience with PC gaming.

Just remember, consoles are 30fps. If it can't handle 60fps on high, just crank everything up and settle for 30fps, it's still better than consoles. If you still prefer 60fps, you may be able to play on low or medium settings. The other PC footage the other day shows 60fps on a 650Ti video card.

That's a terrible example considering the downgrade thread for that game did end up proving that it was for sure downgraded and that it took file adjustments to try and make it better but it was still missing a lot of the original trailer fidelity

What? I was not talking about the original trailer at all. You are getting sidetracked. I am talking about the two week period leading to release. Nothing more.

My memory might be a little foggy, but I remembered screenshots of the Witcher 3 on PC was leaked before release looked exactly like it looked after they release the game.

No. You are incorrect. Initial comparisons came out and the PC version and the XBO version looked neck and neck. People were up in arms because the PC version footage/screens/comparisons were all labeled "Ultra", and the devs had said Ultra would blow away the console versions.

Well, turns out the Ultra setting was bugged on the versions the press was using, combined with terrible compression of youtube videos. A hotfix was release, and some press sights even updated their comparisons to show "Real Ultra" settings in action. The game was released, and to no ones surprise the PC version does look lightyears ahead of console. (I have owned both a PS4 copy and PC copy of Wild Hunt since launch).

A post about one of the corrections that a early comparison site had to do...

PCGH has a comparison between the preview and review version(including day one patch) up: Click

review copy includes:

better vegetation
better ao
water tesselation
better textures
better shadows

This was updated after the previous comparison using the preview build and not the review build with the day one patch, looked like the game was nigh identical on XBO as it was on PC.

It did. People have convinced themselves the game wasnt downgraded

Not talking about "Downgrades" despite your obsession with them Icecold.. I have already said the game has been downgraded compared to the E313 build. That has absolutely nothing to do with the point I am making. So stop trying to drag my conversation into that same old tired one you are always having.

I love that the devs say the PC version having tons of options and proper control and such is a "matter of pride" to them.

Like, this shit should be normal for all developers to put into a proper PC version, but I like how they are so committed to it. "We come from PC, it HAS to be great or we lose face"

Also
Many games have loading tips when you fast travel or whatever. We have hundreds of them but we don’t throw them at you randomly. Instead, we’re checking to see if you’ve been crafting and if you haven’t, we’ll point you toward it. You won’t have to read about things you’ve done a thousand times already, we’ll direct you toward the things that maybe you haven’t discovered or don’t fully understand.

Using a similar system, we direct you toward things within the game world, not only during loading – and for loading screens, I include fast travel screens – but when you’re actually interacting with the world. So if you’re near a ladder and maybe you’ve never climbed a ladder before, the instructions explaining how do to that will pop up in the UI. Or maybe you have climbed ladders but not for a long time, so we taught you that but you haven’t really started to look for ladders in the world or to treat them as pathways, we’ll remind you.
I hope that works well!

Well, considering that I have been playing consoles for most of my gaming career. I could settle for 30FPS if that means the game is gonna look great! It's what I'm used to anyway. :)

Guess I'm gonna have to go and hunt me down a key then.

Me too, and that's what I'm planning to do.
Force brute the graphics for maximum IQ and settle for 30fps.

PS4 Doesn't look so bad judging from those 3 shots.
Since PS4 beta didn't start, Alpha was XBO only and press events were XBO and PC only I highly doubt these screenshots are from PS4.

I bet they are from the XBO version. But yep, they don't look bad.

No. I'm pretty sure you can use a mix of medium and a few low settings for locked 60 with these specs. High settings on PC should be almost equal to PS4, as with most games but you'd have to cope with 30 fps.

Alright boys, PC settings for those that like to tinker ini settings (no clue what HFTS is though):

Are any of these settings even showing up in those screenshots we are seeing?
  • I know there isn't AF
  • game looks very flat so I doubt there is AO
I didn't see any reflections in the puddles
  • No screen space reflections either
  • were there Noen shadows?

There's definitely reflections in the puddles. One screenshot shows a red neon sign reflected.

I recall reading the game supports HBAO+ (i'll try to find the source when I'm not at work)

Well PC will probably look (a lot) better than console. Question is why do you want it on the PS4? As long as its well optimized for all platforms and your PC can handle it, you can get the graphics however high they get while having the option to use mouse/keyboard or controller.

I assume it will look better on PC. Plus, when the oculus ships, my PC is going to get a lot more attention (either a Pascal or Polaris GPU upgrade).
However, I've got a decent friends list on PSN, and I like the way party chats and sharing works, so I assume that the Division will have a larger / more social community on PS4, especially compared to Uplay (wish they'd give up on that shit in favor of steam). That is literally the only reason I was considering PS4, but I actually placed my pre-order on PC since I want to play the PC beta.
