The Division Beta Thread: Make Manhattan Great Again

Another thing that bothers me: Yesterday I spent many hours finding and extracting loot, but most of the stuff was useless. Today me and a friend decided to just kill anyone we come across, and ended up with ~2000 dark zone credits in 3 hours. We then bought 2 purple equipment parts from a vendor, much better than all the green/blue stuff you can extract.

What exactly is the point in extractions then? Just seems like a waste of time.

They really need to up the limit on how many bags can be extracted at once. It sucks waiting/surviving that long surrounded by people who aren't in your group, just to not be able to attach your pack on the helicopter that YOU called. haha

So I guess it's a bad idea to go into the dark zone alone?

I've been running around Solo every day except for a few hours on Friday. It's definitely hard but it's doable. Acquaint yourself with the zone, be wary of high activity areas (The parking structure extraction zone) and try your best to stay mobile. Hit the PvE enemies to grab gear, get xp, and dz currency and be super watchful when you want to extract and you can do well.

It amazes me how you people think the dark zone is a stressful place.....this isn't fucking dayz or some shit. Its not stressful let alone intense lol

I played darkzone with 2 friends last night, 2 squads of 4 were doing nothing but running around murdering non-rogue agents and pilfering their shit. In the confusion the rest of the agents shot at anyone that traveled on the same fucking street.

It depends on what instance you get thrown into but people at level 8 bracket alone have such wide quality of weapons/armor - even if you think you have really good shit there are some people that are like fucking raidbosses (they don't even heal themselves they just take so much punishment and practically instagib everyone around them - like 1000+ difference in DPS).

It's best to not shoot other people in dark zone, keep your head down and be friendly so you can get your shit out and not lose too much xp and $$ by getting fucked over.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
This is really concerning. I was going to pre-order but I want to see how this shakes out first. Having all this stuff client side sounds like an awful idea but this isn't Massive's first game on PC so I hope they have something in the works to handle this.

Exactly my thoughts. I enjoy the heck out of this game but i can't pre-order yet because the whole cheating thing is really concerning. They better have some anti cheat tool or something ready for release otherwise this will turn into a disaster.

Just pay attention what other players are doing when you see any, and keep positioning in mind. If someone or team tries to gank you from distance [read: not standing right next to you] and you have good position so you can get cover fast then you can escape, even win 2 to 3 on 1 fights. Also often it's only few players that try always go rogue and if you put them down few times they tend to lose interest in you :D

Today I have been solo in DZ and wiped the floor few times with my instances regular rogues, they now leave me alone and don't even try to initiate combat against me.

Rogue status only lasts for 60 seconds right?...doesn't seem like a long time...makes it worth it for the gear you can potentially get...am I missing something?

The more you kill the longer the time and once you're rogue, anytime you shoot someone or get shot by someone your timer freezes. You pretty much have to run to get rid of the Rogue status.

Have you not entered the Dark Zone?

Um......I played the dark zone before almost before anyone did in the alpha dude and it hasn't changed in the beta. It's not exciting and is very boring. But you know......the only time you decided to read a division thread is when there's a beta. I had plenty of alpha impressions on it. They have not changed.

It increases the more people you kill. I had a 240 second timer last night.

Biggest complaint with the Rogue system is that I don't think your timer should reset every time you get shot if you are running away or not engaging somebody.

Well this is obnoxious as shit. At least you have a very detailed and fleshed out criticism summed up by "it's boring."

Your timer rises when you kill more players, but in the end it's still a lot more rewarding than extractions, as I already mentioned at the top of the page.

The DZ is growing on me, but holy crap the gear disparity is huge. Gearing up after the first wave of players has maxed out is a way different experience.

As far as other content in the beta is it just the MSG mission and the one missing person side quest?

Theres more side missions...go back to the camp and look at the board map,it will update your map...same thing in the place where you can update the Medic place twice.

After 20 hours of the Beta, I think I'm calling it there. The game is out in roughly 5 weeks, and I got burnt out of running in the same little quadrant in the dark zone for hours. Didn't want to push it anymore than I already have, and I'm yearning for more content to come out. Pre-order is being kept, and I'm excited to experience everything the full game has to offer. My hype is still there, but I have a few concerns that I hope will be addressed, namely: the hacking, the weird invisible dark zone glitch, better and more stable frames that don't wildly fluctuate and of course the end game content.

Forgot to add going rogue at this moment is completely not worth the risk/reward potential. I went into manhunt mode and only got 777 dark zone credits, I assume you get more when you kill more, but you stand to lose so much more if you die, they need to up the reward factor.

but you don't need to kill multiple people as a Rogue...kill one...run off and hide until the 60 second timer runs out...go Rogue again later if you want...

I had some fun alone in the Dark Zone. I went in solo for a couple hours to try and get a good lay of the land. Didn't want to make idiot mistakes when I went in with a team. Checked out all of the points of interest and visited the subway tunnels and the safehouse. Mostly just booked it whenever I saw other players, but eventually rando-teamed up with a couple dudes when I found them chasing down a rogue agent and joined in on their pursuit.

Really enjoyed this beta, was a surprise with the games prior community mood.

Definitely will pre-order near launch.

First few hours are really nice and atmospheric. Dark zone isn't so bad since you only lose the contaminated gear, the tense bit is the wait for the extradition, risk of betrayal or rogues.

Didn't get to play it today but glad it got extended, will play a bit more after work tomorrow.

I'd really like to check this out after the positive feedback, but I'm not about to commit to a preorder just to try the beta. Shame the codes are so hard to come by.

I have an extra code of you are somehow able to input it into the website. Last I checked due to demand they actually closed in redeeming the codes

Is there any way on PS4 to turn off your controller speaker and redirect those warnings to your speakers?

I don't get anything going through my controller's speaker. Probably because I turned down the DS4 speaker volume in the PS Button (hold) settings.

It all goes through my headphones.

So I finally logged out of the beta for what I think is the last time. I've reached the point where I've experienced enough to know I love the game but don't want to get burnt out or have to re earn tons of purps at launch.

Man, the aiming dead-zone on consoles is really aggravating. Makes shooting jerky and unpredictable.

Ok I just played 3 hours of Dead Zone, with 3 friends of mine. I usually don't like most PvP modes, but THIS IS AMAZING and so much fun!!

I played for a bit, the 2nd or 3rd mission told me to go to the darkzone so I did. I saw a few people all not hostile, and only a few AI's which i killed. I ran around for 15 minutes and it was barren. Overall the game feels good and looks great on PC aside from random pop ins I am getting but I am to lazy to fool around with the settings right now.

Is there are guide out there on how Dark Zone works and what should we do in there?
It seems that killing other players is a much faster way to get better gear.

in camp you can also go to the army lady in tent and you will get 3 side missions (one is hostage rescue, one is to kill some wanted murderer and one is to turn on some coms or something)

Yeah, currently hunting down rogues is fastest way to get DZ Moneys and into legendary gear. I hunted badly playing rogues for few hours and made something like 8k total. There isn't enough PvE content to clear and those chests have way too long respawn times, but I still would check those large chests when nearby. You never known.

This is one of the only game with what I think are real "chase" mechanics that aren't forced on the player. Some of my most intense moments I had playing this game was my group and I running away from 10+ people, ducking through alleys and inside buildings and down into the subways as we waited for our rogue timer to count down. That's sort of why I love that your rogue timer doesn't go down if you engage--it encourages this fleeing and the bounty on your head encourages others to chase you. And thanks to how in depth the city is, it's not just running down straight streets, but inside and underground. Trying to run away while simultaneously coordinating with my group, having one person run distraction or putting down cover fire etc... definitely one of my favorite parts of the dark zone, and some of the most multiplayer fun I've had since... Well, Rainbow Six Siege. I guess Ubisoft is hitting all the right notes for me in multiplayer this gen, as Watchdogs did this sort of dynamic cat and mouse multiplayer too.

Shame the PVE is no where near this level. The game could do with some enemies that chase you down.

This is an opinion.

It is not a fact.

Does this really need to be pointed out?

Sure. However once you're Rogue, you're a blinking icon on the map and players within a couple blocks if you can see your Rogue Icon. You becone a free kill worth extra xp and currency so they tend to hunt you down. At that point, if you fight back or get shot... Timer freezes or resets. So hiding doesn't work all that well unless theres nobody around.

Damn. That sucks

My biggest complaint about the beta is other players in the dark zone have to be marked better. I've shot people so many times thinking they were Ai.

How? NPC's are purple/yellow and players are white/red.

You don't need to hide you just run away for 1 minute - obviously standing still is a bad idea. It's possible to have bad luck and run into a huge group of players but most of the time it's easy to escape unless you have the max 5 minute timer.

Went to pax so i didnt have much time to play. Anyone know when it ends exactly? Midnight?

The short time I did spend with it, I liked it. DZ seems like where the fun will be had.

It has been extended a day extra, so you will have all day tomorrow as well.

Edit: Beaten

Had a blast playing DZ police, 4 hours no deaths. Lost count of kills.

Best was chasing a group of 4 headhunted rogues with 9 non hostiles and realising the non hostiles couldn't help accidentally going hostile.... Then cleaning up.

Chasing down hostile groups that are killing non hostiles is great. Ended up with 3 or solos using outr group as body guards.

Good fun, love the M1A. Played it for over 24 hours :O
