The Division Beta Thread: Make Manhattan Great Again

How do I use the dang dark zone keys? Have three of them and no chest works.

Chests seem to get glitched when you reach max rank/level. I remember going into DZ and finding chest after chest that I couldn't open because I wasn't ranked high enough. When I hit max rank and ran across those same chests no matter how many I ran into I couldn't open a single one. Just the glitchy nature of the beta.

I got to that chest in the Hospital mission contaminated area...got a pretty good Blue SMG that was an upgrade over the Blue SMG I was already using...did it on Normal difficulty

yeah...when you see a "Cleaner" (flamethrower guys) make sure you aim for their tanks...at normal levels it'll take them out and any other enemies around the blast

Love this Beta and can't wait till full game but this Darkzone seems like it needs some tweaking or something.

Just chased after some rogue for ages through streets with another bloke riddling him with gun fire, he turns around and shoots a couple into me and i drop straight away. wtf.
Had to turn machine off, otherwise a controller would've made the long distance record or been on hissey fits youtube spats, lol smh

Darkzone will be a rare adventure for me, in the full game. Some elements of the gameplay are cool though

Ah, that explains it.

My brother and my friend were iffy on the game, after playing with them in the beta on PC they are in.

I'm also really enjoying the game, but I'm done with all the content they released on the beta. I want more!

Can't wait to start crafting better gear.

The Dark Zone is pretty bad right now filled with lots of rogues that drop me in a couple of shots or baiters trying to get me to go rogue, and then they kill me when I don't fire back and try to run away.

This was my biggest fear (aside the single player mode) and now I'm glad I picked up PvZ GW 2 over the division.

Part of the reason is your DZ level is capped at 8 but you can continue farming items. In theory that won't happen in the main game and yo uwon't be matched with people who have that much higher tier gear on them than you.

You think it would matchmake on gear? Have they said anything to that effect?

The game has definitely improved over the few hours I spent with it in a much earlier state. We had access to different missions (one involving a mall?) and the gunplay didn't feel as fun/tight as it does now. The combat has improved a lot and the encounters are pretty entertaining.

The Dark Zone is really interesting. I joined up with some randoms for the first mission and we went into the dark zone together and basically just fucked around. Ran into some campers on top of a building in an alley with only one way of access that was right below them so they were essentially invisible. I really hope that doesn't become a thing. I don't even grasp how that's fun since it ruins the excitement of the dark zone.

I think I'll be grabbing this. I'm still confused on the stats. DPS is weird to have be so noticeable because it keeps me thinking I'm less powerful even though my guns have higher stats than the ones that generate a higher DPS.

I hope the DZ continues to get fleshed out. Maybe add more encounters with NPCs and stuff.

Use the scan ability to scout locations you think people might be hiding.

is the base customization or building in the beta? i know everyone basically upgrades their own version of the same 'hub' (correct?) but is there much variety and customization, or does everyone pretty much upgrade the same way?

The upgrades seem tied to completing objectives that give you one of three upgrade currencies that you can spend to improve the base. Once everything is upgraded, everyone's should be the same I think, but what you choose to upgrade and when you choose to do it can be very different.

How much longer is this beta going? Now that the SF5 beta is over I'll give this a shot, but I don't want to jump in if I'll only have an hour or two.

They're going to need to balance the people joining the DZ instances not just by level, but by gear level too. Otherwise fresh level 30's are going to just be shooting fodder for the players geared out in orange/purple gear. I just don't see how it will be fun for anyone but the folks in max-level gear. Even if the populations are spread out in release, a new level 30 is going to be nearly 1-shot by any veterans they run across in fully upgraded gear.

Any game with PVP using the gear treadmill runs into this. WoW has continually battled issues with this starting with reducing PVE gear effectiveness, and having special PVP gear. And now the next expansion even eliminates the gear differences even more to the point where gear barely matters anymore.

Will be interesting to see how the devs for this game handle this situation.

why do marksman rifles suck ass? Seriously, everyone just demolishes me with ARs.

You try go against AR's in short distances? Good M1A or SCAR-H destroys AR player from medium range, M44 Carbine also is sick at medium and long distances. ARs are solid weapon class in Division, but bullet spread is fall of them when distances grow.

That was my go-to. I meant invincible, not invisible, lol. There was just no way to get to them since the ladder led right to their feet.
You can stack up on the ladder or rope, because clipping is allowed, so you can bum rush them.
At the ladder spot you can toss up grenades. At the popular rope spot you have one guy snipe while the other three stack up and then bum rush. Throw grenades behind them as they will run to red area for glitch.

I have a fully purple decked Caduceus which is definitely a powerhouse at close range but I still use the Classic M1A 90% of the time and win most fights with it even at close range.

How in the world did you get such gear? I haven't got a drop higher than blue from a NPC, and I doubt people are just running around DZ with that kind of loot?

I don't know how. Everytime I try to attack anyone i get wrecked. It's become fucking stupid. Even at med-long range the Scar/Marksman feel like pea shooters. The recoil is just fucking insane on these. I think you're just playing against people using starter weapons, or you're using the best weapons in the game.

Vendors in checkpoints combined with hopping from DZ instance to another, because in every instance vendors have different items in sale. First you do some PvP to rank up cash and then you just start running from CP to CP, do this until every slot is legendary or better. Today I tossed my last blue item, in full legendaries or better.

It also can be gear issue, especially in level 8 bracket where some players are decked out with best quality gear that is available in beta. That turns them into borderline tanks that shoot nukes at you. You need good amount successful PvP and vendor farming to get said gear.

Edit: What I was using earlier today, swapped some items to better ones after taking this pic;

Then theres no point to playing solo. Even regular enemies are too tough to kill. The scar is garbage. The recoil on any marksman rifles is just insane. I can't hit the broadside of a fucking barn, or even any players.

Oh, they extended it? Good on Ubisoft. I just got done downloading and doing the two story missions (despite them allowing me to do security side-missions, I can't open that? WTF?). I figured I'd do the Dark Zone and then give up the beta, but if I can dick around a little more tomorrow I'll get a bigger chance of trying it out.

Solo is harder, not impossible. I have been solo in DZ for 90% of the my DZ time and managed to get gear seen above. What I did was keep eye on who was likely to go rogue and who didn't do that stuff, and I started to hang around ones not going rogue. This way when rogues came around we had decent amount of firepower to fight back. After few wins I had enough money to purchase better gear.

Repeated until had everything I wanted.

I like this game and actually didn't mind going around solo. I also do like that matchmaking for missions.

I hated the fucking Dark Zone. Worst PVP zone ever. I already see the fuckfest that is going to be when it releases.

Can anyone clarify the ranking system differences between your level and your Dark Zone level?

In the full game the dudes grinding out gear by killing NPCs won't get matched up with lower level players will they? I seem to recall that the grouping I got was determined by my offline rank not so much my Dark Zone rank.

The safehouse vendor is selling orange guns. Each vendor sells different gear too, and also its different by server. So you have to check all the vendors, then change servers (join a friend or matchmake) and then try all the vendors again. Not worth it at all for beta but for release it'll be... interesting.

Drops are crap in this game at level 8 anyways, the fastest way to farm DZ points is just killing other players or going rogue-5 and then not dying before the timer runs out. Do an hour or two of that and you'll have 10k points you can buy a ton of gear with.
