So, I havn't been following this game very closely in the last year. I've just been playing a few hours of the beta and am now in doubt:

Is Brooklyn and Central Park in this game or not? In earlier trailers we saw scenes from Brooklyn and in an interview with a developer Central Park was confirmed.

But these areas doesn't seem to be part of the in game map. Have they been removed? Maybe saved for expansions? Or will they be there at release?

Brooklyn is speculated to be coming as DLC, not in the base game but they did show it in a gameplay video previously. Not sure about Central Park

Have they stated what time on the 31st the beta ends ? Just need to know for scheduling with mates and being in AU means I may need to play a bit more in 'off-peak' times

WTF, why is this not in the game anymore?

I'm guessing it would defeat the purpose of the yellow and purple bar enemies if you could take them out in one move

they're supposed to be spongey and hard to take down

it looks like the kind of thing that would be in the game if it were a straight up action game and didn't have rpg elements

Has Massive discussed the end game of this game at all? I love the beta, but I'm really curious about what there will be to do at higher levels.

Also, I'm wondering what the high level loot will be like. Will it just be different paint jobs or unique effects on the guns we have now or will they invent their own guns?

They have mentioned end-game having multi-group content.. raid-like perhaps?

Will we see content in the game that will require you to group up with more than four players?

For retention and the end game, “group-plus” content will be really important. I can tell you that there will be multi-group content. I can’t get into it too much, but I can say there will be at least eight-player content.

yeah, I should have looked at situation board instead of just glancing quickly and not paying attention to the %age meter that goes up while looking at it.

Haha, just finished an encounter. I went back out into the street, to find mans best friend taking a shit. lol

I did a little bit of Dark Zone at level 7 (had the mission telling me to find the entrance so just wanted to get it done)...nobody ever killed me or shot at me...was able to get some Green knee pads extracted...calling in the helicopter and waiting is tense considering I thought at any second someone would come and kill me (one person did show up but he just waved and stood there)

Lol! Those two guys came to the wrong extraction point. A fellow gaffer and I were extracting along with several randoms (a group of two and a group of 3). We were all behind cover, waiting for the other to pull the trigger. No one did. Along comes another group who watches as my team and the other randoms attach our loot to the cable. As soon as I was done, I quickly went into cover. The new group attacked us and went rogue. Big mistake as we all then just grouped up on them. As soon as they were dead, I left, knowing that it wouldn't be long before the other randoms turn their guns on us. And the group of 2 did. One guy ended up dying since the group of 3 stayed behind. The other ended up running away.

Enjoying DZ the more I play. May just end up buying the game day one.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

Ah yeah that would make sense.

Reduces threat. In the 2014 demo they killed a bunch of npcs near some npcs and they didn't hear it.

Presumably because of the bigger RPG focus.

But they knew for a long time it will be a RPG focused game.

Do we know it's not? Couldn't it be a talent/skill to be unlocked later?

or maybe this.

This interview was also back in the days where there was a companion app, and I highly doubt, going by the beta, this is still in the game:

What impact will the actions of the players will have on the game? For example: During the gameplay video you showed us at E3 the players cleared the police station from hostile NPCs. What will happen to this station afterward? Will there be new mission opportunities that unfold from there?

To answer it simply: Yes, your actions as a player are very important; the game world will change depending on your actions or inactions. I’ll try to give you a little more than I did at E3. We’re fixing New York, the whole quest or overarching objective of The Division is to get the “grid” back online and functioning; by grid, we mean water, power, sewerage, sanitation, etc. Your actions will change the face of your New York.

I doubt players will have that sort of effect on the world anymore. I wonder if maybe there will be before/after instances after major missions, but I doubt it given how they want you to be able to replay missions and group up with friends. "Impacting the world" just doesn't work in a game like this.

And so I have little faith in that interview and I'm also speculating that "raids" were cut in favor of enhancing the darkzone. But I guess we'll see what happens on release.

I wish I played the same game as you guys. It was fun for a bit but quickly got dreadfully boring. I really hope the city is packed with interesting things to see and do in the final game because wandering around collecting gloves and hats won't keep my interest for more than a few hours.

Same here, I was bored out my mind.

The hospital mission was fine but it was pop up and shoot cover gunplay. I am worried about the mission variety although I know the beta isn't a good way to judge it.

The DZ was just stupid in my opinion. Variety is even less there. I walked around, shoot some AI, got destroyed by some rogue agents, meet this random dude and teamed up with him.

Walked around following eachother until we saw a helicopter, go see a bunch of people, shoot and die, rinse and repeat until he disbanded and i quit the game.

I will be cancelling my preorder.

Based off the same interview I talk about in my post above. I believe the game has changed quite a bit since then.

Second-screen functionality being removed isn't exactly the same as an online RPG not having endgame content.

Like, this game being so similar to that of Destiny structurally, what makes you think they wouldn't have endgame content?

Skills like the area wide healing just reinforce the game being designed for PVE, not just PVP.

Stealth takedowns were a thing at some point but they were cut.

These would have been really cool. Sad they got taken out.

Their philosophy of keeping a lot of stuff behind the curtain before release is interesting. They say they want players to find out things from playing the game rather than reading interviews but they leave a lot of stuff up in the air. Hopefully it is not just a smokescreen for a Bungie situation where they're trying to hide the lack of content.

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
But they knew for a long time it will be a RPG focused game.
Confirmed.
The specific reason:A direction they're no longer pursuing.

In another article.

The reason stated was that Q&A testers were running around and using one-hit melee attacks or takedowns. As of the current demo build, melee does exist - but it is just a "shove" mechanic that allows the players to gain some distance on each other, so that they can resume their adverse gunplay.

Well fuck.

Also, what is the point of a silencer if the enemies zoom in on your location after the very first shot?

Yeah I wondered this too. I sniped a guy with silencer in the middle of a blizzard, got 5 sets of bullets heading at my head instantly :/

WTF, why is this not in the game anymore?

Yeah I tried to stealth kill an enemy but couldn't figure out how. Guess that's why.

Played a bit again, just hopped in and joined a friend in the DZ. Was fun. Then I went alone up a fire escape and a "stalker" jumped down and shotgunned me. Was fun, I put the game down. It's so easy to pick up and put down. I don't want to put too much time in the beta though.

I don't really see that many similarities with Destiny, to be honest. On that surface, sure. It's got look and its a shooter and you can play with your friends. But I think there are too many comparisons being drawn to it. The open world and the dark zone differentiates the game in a big way, and I think the endgame will be heavily focused on the darkzone, and that seems to be what Ubisoft has been trying to get across recently without outright saying "there's no raids." It's not an MMO in really any way, it's more like an action-RPG than anything. And I think we should be looking more to Diablo and Day Z for our endgame ideas in this game rather than MMO raids.

After the Destiny Beta, people let their minds run far past what the game showed us and were burned. The beta revealed a ton about the game and not a lot of people wanted to believe the implications that had. And then the game came out and people got burned. I'm seeing that happen here and I hope it doesn't end up the same way. But we'll see what Massive has in store for us.

Yeah it will be interesting how it turns out. But so far I've only see Rockstar actually pull it off, and even then I was sort of let down by heists.

Hey man my group met your group yesterday in the DZ on PS4 I don't know if you remember, had the same name as you. We had a nice little skirmish.

Haha no way, only just seen this. It was probably me, my tag on there is BraXzyy.

DZ yesterday was a lot of fun. Today I've been a bit cruel around extraction zones with grenades so apologies to anyone I came across >=D

I need to see more of the game before deciding on it so I'm going to gamefly it.

It has my interests but Destiny left it's mark.

Our friend is lvl 8 and the rest of us are lvl 7 it's telling there's a dz mismatch. Do we all have to be the same lvl?

yes but you can join. go in the party in game select him. In the option you should see something about joining the 8-8 bracket
