The Division - Review Thread

I came in here, trying to see if I should jump the gun and let the peer pressure justify buying this and instead

Lol Holy shit that's some of the best use I've seen this gif lately. I literally burst out laughing

The OT is probably a better place to go to get impressions. This thread is beginning to devolve into two extremes battling in out with some people in the middle getting caught in the crossifre.

Lol, reviewers are just pissed they don't get their "hot scoop" pre release copies and get to tell us all what we should like and how we should like it. I like my shit, and I like it steamy, and stinky. All over the walls.

Gg games press, you are dead (and have been since 1up shut down)

yeah - I'm might be partly responsible because of my meltdown, but I feel that it was totally appropriate for this thread to do so.

I apologize for coming off as such a dick, but - I've always been this way (passionate about my opinions/can you blame somebody for that) - no offense, god bless, game on, but I know when it's time to go.

I leave you guys with this: no matter what, I love this community, and respect others opinions - peace out!

This is not true.

The games that were my favorite last year were the ones that managed to stay fresh for the entire playthrough. Either by introducing new mechanics, enemy types, different weapons, skills, etc etc.

With the Division, my experience in retail has been exactly the same as beta. Just.... more of it. Which is fine. I got the game because I wanted more of it... but I'm not going to argue against its repetitive nature. Different environments yeah, but the fights pretty much feel the same.

What games were you playing?

This just keeps getting better. Do people actual believe this shit they are typing?

Are they writing the review based on Beta? :P

Something like that? The reviewer said in the comments on the review that they got an early copy, but that wouldn't have mattered at all when you need the servers to be up to play the game...right? The guy must've played a ton of that game in a short while for that review to be legit. The next reviews went up March 11, which is a much more sensible time given no review copies pre release.

Yeah this thread is a dumpster fire. The OT is great though if you want impressions of the game.

On the topic of the reviews, the 80-85 range is where I place this game in my personal opinion, whether the coming reviews will keep it there remains to be seen.

I see this as a great game that is fun and pretty addicting but doesn't rock the gaming world or reinvent anything. It's solid, great not amazing.

I'm expecting this to go down quite a bit as more singleplayer centric reviewers weigh in.

If it doesn't I'll be quite surprised since it seems like the type of game that'd go over great with MP centric players and poorly with at least a notable proportion of reviewers.

All right, since this we've went from 93 to 83, which is more like I was imagining (~77-83-ish).

I wouldn't be surprised to see it go a bit lower.

Who are you talking to. Who was pissed about not getting a copy?

Wow what the hell is going on in here lol.

My thinking is if you're enjoying a game why care about a review?

I usually look to reviews to make sure the overwhelming majority isn't saying its broken garbage.

This game could shoot down to the 70s for all I care and Im still having a blast.

I do like that review averages this gen seem to be lower then last gen when it seemed like AAA games fell out of the womb with a 92 metacritic.

The Division seems like its getting the reviews it should get. Its OK. Its got issues but whatever. It is doing some neat things and isnt a broken mess so thats nice.

lol I could find the answer but the question "This comment was deleted."

lol I could find the answer but the question "This comment was deleted."

He deleted one of my comments. The response he gave was: "We actually ended up getting the game early, and servers went live early. There were streams all over the place yesterday since there was no embargo. I had my own stream going for a few hours as well. Everyone really enjoyed it."

The question was: "The game hasn't even been out for 24 hours. How is this review possible, especially considering reviewers were supposedly given access at the same time as consumers?"

I don't for one second believe his review was legit. It screams click me.

I like where the meta critic score for this is averaging out at. The game is just a bit better than destiny but you can already tell that the base game close to as sparse as base destiny. Luckily we have an actual roadmap for future content updates and they're communicated well unlike destiny. I give massive/Ubi communication a 9/10

So an 8/10 is average now.

Man some of y'all are smoking some shit. And just terrible at trolling.
Have you follows the industry's scoring habits over the past decade?

Besides that, the post you quoted said "above average." 8/10 is, by definition, literally "above average."

Both question and reply was fine so why he was bothered at the point of remove your comment.

Yeap looks like it.

New scale is 5-10. You're just average Division.

Haha stupid fucking scores. Why in the world does someone need a score and another dudes opinion before they should buy something. Your eyes don't work?

This review is such a FUCKIN' JOKE!!!!

Don't make a review saying the games life is shortened - knowing that there's going to be DLC and expansions coming in the near future - and even if you didn't know - now you do because the one year road map is up, in which case this dude should re-evaluate the score.

Honestly I don't care about scores, but to say the game has a short lifespan hit a personal spot (don't fucking ask).

Essentially, I hate reviews anyway - so fucking subjective, god this shit makes me salty!

Well, tbh Destiny and SFV were reviewed at the start on what shipped, not what's coming down the line.

How can some even enjoy a 83 metacritic game!? j/k
Anyway, from what I read, friends are required to really really enjoy it and it can become a 9/10 in that scenario. I have zero online friends.

As they should be. Arguments about "lifespan" are weird this early in a game's life, but maybe the reviewer was addressing mechanics that s/he felt would quickly become repetitive? Haven't read it myself.

I actually enjoy soloing in The Division a lot more than Destiny. The Division is much more immersive and believable as a "world". As a result, it's more enjoyable to just be in it and do shit alone.

I'm sure it will get old, though.

Oh we're back to reviews don't matter I see. Why is everyone in this review thread?
Abandon ship!

It really depends on how you define/scale "great", y'all.

Welcome to the subjective world of reviews! Don't put too much stock in them unless you're trying to get a vague idea of the general consensus and/or you know the reviewer, the reviewer's preferences, etc.

Nope, has to be 96 or better.

well to be honest the way 90s are thrown around now you just expect every game to be in the 80s unless it is a mess.... I can still wait 3+ minutes to find a game in rainbow six and im sure it scored in the 80s... and it has glitches galore too.

its also excellent but I wouldn't give any game with significant network issues over a 7 personally.
