Arena Grand Champion question...

Since I never saw any quest to find out the truth about him, can someone tell me the details of that quest? I've killed him now, so it's too late to do it in game.

If you had spoken with him with good disposition he would've given you a tale and a location of a fort to go to and retrieve information about his origin. Origin spoiler ->
The fort is north of Anvil, name started with a C, I've forgot the name. He was the son of a vampire, not a noble lord as he thought.

so, uhm, where does one buy spells?

Some Chapels, various people (different amounts) in Mage's Guilds, the Spell Shop in The Imperial City, other fellow mages in the Academy.

Yeah I've become a vampire in the first 3 hours of game play. I was kinda surprised. Given that I'm new to TES, I'd rather get the cure. There's a quest if you talk to the lady in the Imperial City's Temple.

I've fed on beggars though, which was awesome. :D

I finally closed one of the gates at
Kvatch
...wow. That quest was fucking awesome. The
world in side the gates
scares the shit out of me. I don't ever want to go back there. :lol I know, I haven't been playing it as much as I want to, and I only have 12 hours and 42 minutes on it. Only a level 5. :lol

nice, thanks. it's simply incredible how huge and complex oblivion is. i've already spent countless hours with the game and i'm just barely scratching the surface.

If only there was a drinking game for this thread, when anyone says "barely scratched the surface".

Query for those who have the guide/explored everywhere: what is the most expensive house you can buy, how much is it, and where is it? I have a buttload of loot now and I want to finally buy a shack. And I want the best house you can buy. Thanks.

I don't have the guide but I believe the most expensive house is in Skingrad (25k). I have it and it's AWESOME. 3 floors, 7 display cases, multiple shelves, cupboards, chests, etc (after buying the furnishings). Get it, get it, get it!

I bought that Skingrad house but honestly I prefer those one room houses like the Waterfront shanty in the Imperial City or that shack in Leyawiin just for convienence. Everything I need is right in one spot so I don't have to deal with any loading screens by opening up doors to other areas of the house.

All I really need is a dumping ground for my stuff and somewhere to lay down.

I can understand your point. There are 2 places to get a loading screen in the house; going to the 3rd floor or basement. I only keep my stuff on the first 2 floors and the vast majority of that is on the 1st floor (all I have is few swords in the 2nd floor display cases). I don't go to the house (or any of my houses) to sleep, which requires the 3rd/basement floor, so the loading isn't a problem for me. I sleep only when I need a level up and I usually find a Mage's Guild bed for that purpose.

Finished the game. Very, very epic.

But god why did Jauffrey have to die!? Excellent ending though, the total opposite of Morrowind. I had to slide the difficulty down though since all the waves of enemies were hardcore like no other. Excellent stuff.

Now, how do I get rid of my vampirism. The mages in the tower don't seem to have advice.

If they can't help, try the
vampire in the Dark Brotherhood.

about the arena...

I did the gray prince quest and in the final fight in the arena he just didn't fight back at all, and now I'm considered a murderer (dark brotherhood came to visit me), and in the fight I tried to find a solution without killing him, but couldn't.. it felt really sad. was there any other way out of this? I was trying to play a purely good character.

I killed Lucien though, so no dark brotherhood.. ;)

For everyone experiencing this "bug," did you talk to him before the match? I did and after it was over, it was just like any arena match and I wasn't a murderer. I think that talking to him first is the key...

Halo 2 more played than Oblivion. That's insane.

You're surprised? Way larger base, with the majority OF that base playing it.

Even if most 360 owners are playing Oblivion, which they are, it can't compete. Halo 2 has staying power.

Why is that insane? There are still 20 times more Xboxes out there than 360s, and Halo 2 still sold about 20 times as many copies! This list covers ALL games being played over Xbox Live, not just games being played on Xbox 360, as evidenced by Battlefield 2 being on the list.

Anyone know about that spell? I need it for the mages guild.

You talking about the
Pillar
?

There's a chest and/or box with a bunch of scrolls in them. One of them (well two, really) are just what you may need.

Vampirism? No, that's just something random outside of main questline.
If you mean the stuff behind the black spoiler thingy, yes.
I typed the reply before you spoilered your spoiler. :d

WTF is up with the Harry Potter Trolls (the Azkihban ones.. haha)??? I've been cruising along trying to get into the Mages Guild. I head down to the Southern city to one of the Forts to grab an Amulet for some crazy dame in the Mage's Guild and the Fort is filled with these Garsh Darn trolls that I can't seem to kill. The creatures are supposed to be scalable to my level, so I think I'm just missing their vulnerbility. It's certainly not fire. I "trapped" some of the trolls and shot at them for over a half hour with a 20 point flame ball with no effect.

the fact that trolls regenerate is evil.. I just have to keep pumping them full of arrows until they die.

when I got to that fort, I had to fight a troll and a will o' wisp at the same time.. that was fun

Sorry about that. The text was visible for like 20 seconds before it got fixed.
Whatever you saw, someone else said it depends on how good you fight.

ahhh.. didn't know those bastards regenerated. That explains it.

Will 'o wisps are evil, but I've found a decent tactic to fight them. I run up, hit a few times and then backstep when they fire a red pulse (which drains me and all kinds of nasty stuff), then quickly get back in there before it moves. Needs a bit of space to retreat if it gets aggressive though.

Had a nice fight with a minotaur, my first one. Didn't know how dangerous it was so for safety I kept leaping back and forth across a chasm and firing bolts at it while it had to run across the bridge all the time.

I've screwed up pretty bad, so please help me :)

After closing the Oblivion gate in Kvatch I'm supposed to escort Martin and Jauffre to Cloud Ruler Temple
. I wanted to do some missions for the Fighters Guild first so I told them to wait in what I think was Chorrol. Now that I want to continue with the main quest I can't find them. I've been to every town, even those which I haven't visited before, but they are nowhere to bee seen. Does anyone know where they might be?

For those who don't know.... there is a second arena hidden in the game.

It's the arena of the gods, called the Tournament of Ten Bloods, and will earn you the legendary Goldbrand.... if you can survive all ten rounds.

I've not done the main quest at all but I imagine if you go to your quest list and click on it to make it the active quest your compass/map will show you where they are.

Seriously. I've pumped in over 80 hours in this game, and still get the impression that I haven't seen 1/4 of what it has to offer.

Heck, I'm still an associate with the Mages Guild. I haven't even started the Fighter's Guild quests, for cripes sakes. I'm just barely into the Main Questline... and have explored maybe 50 of the games 200+ dungeons.

If this isn't GOTY based on the sheer amount of content alone, then they need to throw out the award.

Let me preface this by saying that Oblivion is the most fun Ive had in years, and I dont see how anything else this year can beat it for my personal GOTY.

That said, quantity doesnt matter, its all about quality. Thankfully, Oblivion has both.
