The Elder Scrolls Online |OT| of THE MOST HYPED GAME EVER

The percentage includes installing time, not just the download.

When I finished downloading the initial 22 gigs, the percentage was only like 20% or something

Oh, well that makes me feel a little better. Does it speed up once the install starts?

So far it's up to 4%, at this rate, still feels like I'll be lucky to play tonight, but we'll see.

Yes, i like the fact that my character doesnt look like a christmas tree. Also, i find the armour really detailed.

While I have seen both some of the bland and detailed armors in the game while watching streams it does seem that most of what you buy from stores will be pretty boring stuff.

I havent seen much of crafting but could that be where the best looking armor will come from?

While ultimately it doesnt affect my overall enjoyment of the game, I have been disappointed in the high level end game armor of SWTOR. A bit too over the top for my tastes and didnt seem to represent the classes they belonged to.

The Dolmen around the world are really fun, they work in a similar way to the rifts in Rift, but appear in set places.

Just spawned:

except they are bugged more often than not, and dont spawn adds :/

As long as people still play, who cares? SWTOR and many MMOs that have "bombed" are doing just fine with large player bases and continued game support.
Easy now and read my follow up post before you defend SWTOR (I know you from the thread. :)) I love SWTOR as much as you do, but I don't play it simply because I have no one to play with. All my friends left and I'm not on the GAF server. It's a very successful game and while it bombed initially it's doing great now.

And FFS. I like this game and don't want it to "bomb" because I like it. I bought it and I'm playing it and loving it. However you have to understand how depressing it can be when you sign up for a game with a bunch of good friends and they all just kinda drop out because a game has a rough start. Not saying that it applies to THIS game, just sharing my experience with past games.

Anyway, I don't need to defend my viewpoint really. I'm going a different route this time and already joined the GAF guild. Having a blast.

Its time to play the GAME muhahahaha.

I truly laughed out loud. +1.

I had to settle with 'H H H' in the end, all the others (Triple H, Hunter Hearst Helmsley) were taken!

I can't believe that. Wow. 5 days and even the wrestling names are taken? Whatcha gonna do, brother?!

I've been wandering around grabbing quests while collecting Skyshards. I haven't done something like this since early WoW. It's pretty awesome.

So.... I spent about 3 hours gathering and crafting this morning.

I'm still level 3 in blacksmithing. :| I just want a new shield! A gaudy Argonian shield. :(

Hulk Hogan was taken. Macho Man Randy Savage was taken too. My mate took Hulkamania though!

I'm claiming famous athlete names myself.

I've heard in game that you can swap alliances later...is this true? Cause the character I'm playing mainly is Dominion and not Pact, so it's impossible to join GAF currently. I like my cat-man.

I do have to admit that low level medium and light armor pieces dont look too original, but heavy armor looks good (personal taste).

Armor sets are kinda nice looking, and you can find them around level 15 too.
Helm and torso are part of a set that i found as a drop, and they are only level 16/17

Why do your screenshots look so much softer (and better IMO) than the game does for me?

I'm playing at 1080p with everything on high...

I'm so tempted to get this. It seems it turned out a lot better than most people anticipated. I've been watching twitch streams all day and it looks like a lot of fun. Just need to upgrade my video card before I play though.

nope, which is bizarre since this is basically a console mmo

Damn Mass Effect syndrome.

As big as the PC platform is about "options", there is always the one or two title that comes out, that ALSO comes out on console, that doesn't support 360 controller on PC.

Well...guess it's PS4 version then.

This has probably been asked and answered before, but this version (PC) can be played with a 360 controller?

It can with an emulator. I've tweaked it all day and finally have a layout that works great.

It would be so great if they optimised this game for a controller. The menus still require using the joystick as a mouse. Would be great to have it set up for quick d pad access. Also everything has a unique keyboard layout button. They could easily optimise this a bit. I've had to massively mess with the mouse around settings. I like it to look around quick not super slow as it seems to.

Going to be curious how they do this on console. Especially with chat???

Loving this game. We need to plan a NeoGaf PvP battle. See if we can cause some mayhem

Are there other Daedric Realms besides Coldharbour in this game? If so, which one's?

The major ones I've seen so far are Coldharbour and Quagmire. There was also a quest where I was trapped in a pocket realm of another minor daedric lord. I'm in the Daggerfall Covenant though, so other factions may see other things.

I would love to see their rendition of Mehrune Dagon's Deadlands.

I am having a hard time getting this game to run at 60fps at full settings and 1080p. At first I thought it was an SLI issue, so I turned off SLI and still the same performance. I drop to 30's in town and other areas. I then forced my card to run at max boost and still the same drops in performance. GPU usage hovers at around only 60% or so regardless if it is 60fps or when it drops to the 30's.

I have 2 GTX Titans paired with I73930x both the GPU and CPU are overclocked and under water. No other game exhibits this behavior. I even tested running a benchmark to ensure my cards are spinning up (when not using K-Boost) and they do. So it has to be something with the game.

Any ideas on what too look into or is just a matter of Driver issues?

Cant get this game to run. I click 'play' in the launcher and the crash reporter pops up with the 'eso has stopped working'.

Ive tried repairing the install, updating my drivers, running in compatibility mode, and running as administrator. No luck. Anyone run into this issue and able to solve it?

Windows 8.1 with an AMD 7850

What's the cheapest place to grab this? Getting the urge to play it and given I know the Black Marsh is in it my long line of Argonian characters need to return home!

So close to getting this game. With my schedule i'd only be able to play on the weekends and rarely during the evenings. After I hit 10 would I be able to just jump in and play pvp for a little and log off whenever?

Can someone help me out with campaigns and factions and such? I keep hearing about how pvp is unbalanced and one faction (campaign?) dominates and there's nothing for anyone ever to do. How can I make sure i pick the right place to play so I can have balanced pvp?

Try and put the settings on low at the main menu screen and see if it lets you in.

I need to verify, but I believe not 100% of the Black Marsh is in this. From what I remember reading, part of it is, but it's not a full-fledged zone yet. I am almost positive that it's a zone they plan to flesh out down the road.

Yes, but at level 10, even with the level boost, you will still be at a disadvantage. Doesn't mean you won't be effective, though!

Well, the PvP isn't just the entire megaserver in one place. Cryodiil is split up into "campaigns," which carry a maximum amount of players per faction. When you go to join a campaign, it will show you how many of each faction are within that campaign (denoted by bars that mysteriously look like wireless signal bars). Currently, it's FAR too early to even talk balance. The best guess right now is that AD and EP are pretty comparable, with DC getting no love. However, you do get bonuses for playing on the lower pop side. I am not quite sure how those translate into real gameplay though

Do you prefer to be a caster or melee? Both classes have viability as DPS and heals, with NB being the more unique and difficult healing class.

I like melee classes more but I heard sorcerer is fun in this game. Anyway is bow and arrow viable in PvP?

I don't have personal experience in pvp (yet), but I have heard good things from bow users.

Also how easy is it to switch between healing and DPSing? Can I dps in pve and switch to healing in pvp easily?

Yes. Currently, using me as an example, I am a level 10 Templar. I have a mixture of DPS skills and healing skills. I use a 2H sword for PvE for better damage output. However, when I am going to heal, I have my resto staff lined up, which I also level up periodically for the skills, that I equip to use the resto staff skills along with my Temp skills.

This gets even better at level 15 when you can instantly switch between two different weapons, without having to manually change your weapon.

I can level up fine with just pvp though right? Not expecting to be at the same level as someone who's put more time into the game than me but if I can at least enjoy the game through mostly pvp i'm fine with it.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my time, and it has surprised me quite a lot since my initial reactions. I was able to participate in the press beta for a good week, and then a few beta weekends after that and what I did play was alright, but nothing really hooked me like you would expect for a game that is intending to take up most of your game time. I was lucky though in that the press beta actually had a number of the fixes and polish that we see now, including the more interesting combat changes.

Funny enough, I actually had purchased the Physical Imperial Edition but sold it off as I had no intention of playing on release. EB Games accidentally sent me an extra early access code so I thought why not, give it a try and see what its like now. Fast forward to today and I can't get off, it's too addictive and something they have changed has just clicked massively with me and my entire group. We have about 14 of us playing, and it works so cohesively and is just so much fun.

Honestly, I've haven't had this kind of an MMO feeling since my early days of WoW, where everything felt new and exciting and I was happy to just go along with the flow. I'm level 14 now on my Redguard Templar (conveniently named John-Dar) and I haven't once felt threatened by the game for taking my time and exploring. Instead I'm encouraged to wander off the beaten path, to experiment with the game and to really just be myself. Obviously we will have cookie cutter builds as time goes on, but even then I think choice will still be a big part of the game, and that's what makes this so wonderful and fun.

Oh and crafting. Holy crap. Such an awesome part of the game and I'm so glad that it's actually an integral part in that crafted gear is better than anything dropped, even veteran-specific. This really makes me enjoy the game more because I'm encouraged to try new things, and I'm not just trailed into one specific way of progressing through the game.

If you are still on the fence about this game, I would highly recommend giving it a try if you enjoy true open-world games that don't hinder you for running off. Yes there are level-specific zones and it does have a few themepark MMO aspects, but ESO is just such a strange and fascinating beast. My time spent in-game has been wonderful, and I'm always eager to jump in and explore more which is what any MMO developer hopes to achieve.

what the fuck is this bullshit? So I cant enjoy my 30 days (which, honestly, is all Ill play of this most likely) without having to put a card in, and on top of that it gets pre-charged (meaning if you dont have funds...for the SECOND month, you cant play the first month you paid for when you bought the game)

Many MMOs require or have required CC information to be put in before the end of the month, during the 30day game time. The pre-authorization of that high of an amount definitely seems like uncharted waters; typically it's something like a $1 charge if memory serves me right . Seems like they've at least responded to it.

This really is no different than many other services that offer X amount of days for free.
