Heavy armor is still mainly for tanking. I roll 5 medium pieces with two heavy, myself. I am probably going to make a full heavy set for tanking when I am with my friends.

1 option is to make a 5 piece hundings rage heavy set, will give you that little bonus damage boost.
EU population is booming. I'm getting phased from friends a lot now due to population, not a problem when you can 'travel to player', but it's not been like that for a long time.

It's amazing how just adding in the justice system makes the game that much better. Yeah, it's standard TES and should have been in from day 1 but at least they got it in and will continue to improve upon it.
It was starting to become such a routine to go around and just loot every container I saw that I usually have to stop myself forgetting it's stealing now. Makes it like a mini-game to go around sneaking to steal loot and pickpocket. And like someone else mentioned the fact it's online means no save scumming so it's much more tense knowing you can't undo it if you get caught. I can't wait until they add bounties for it.
Also, this game has the best TES dungeons.

Planning to dive into this with a friend, but he's grabbed the imperial version, and I think he plans to play as an imperial. If I pick up the regular edition, what races can I roll with that'll allow me to play with him?
EDIT: Ah, after looking around more, I see that Imperial is cross faction. So if I'm not mistaken, my friend could play for whatever faction I roll with?

Correct. Not sure if any races are locked to faction at all.

They are, but if you get the adventurer pack, or had preordered the game, then you don't have to worry about that.
Daggerfal Covenant: Breton, Redguard, Orc

Is there any way to adjust the resolution of windowed mode in or out of game? It just seems to default to a certain resolution when I switch it over.

that sux, but at least now I know it's not just me haha. so I don't have to go changing random stuff with my PC setup, when every other game works fine
regarding screenshots, I always thought the graphics in ESO were very nice even at launch. I have a lot of shots archived on my computer

The game is definitely gorgeous.
The criticisms against the game's visuals and presentations were pretty ridiculous. Hyperbolic to the point where I've seen comments like "this looks worse than Morrowind". On average the game looks better than unmodded Skyrim and doesn't suffer from the same bottlenecks that game has over being made for last-gen consoles.

Has anyone tried using Steam's in-house streaming? I can't for the life of me seem to get the audio to work.
Try running the game as fullscreen window?

Good luck Sblargh! Hope you have unlimited fibre optic download. Also don't close the launcher until it's complete. Otherwise I think it starts all over again. Hope you enjoy what ever alliance you join, though if it's DC or AD ... I will find you ... and I will kill you.
I feel kind of forced into the Ebonheart Pact just because all my friends play there. Like, from a roleplaying perspective I don't identify with the pact at all. Playing mainly orcs, I'd go with DC first and AD as a distant second (Paradoxically the Aldmeri feel less xenophobic than Ebonheart, and there are some Daggerfall orcs who defect over to the Dominion).

I did, but then today I had to apply the patch. And it's still applying.
The base game is about 42gb now. If you patch from an earlier release it's incremental, you have to apply each patch on each patch so it takes bloody ages (Patch 5 to Patch 6 is 25gb alone).

cool that they're doing a few PvP fixes nowI'm on level 8 right now with a Khajiit summoner/dark spells and really not sure if I'm understanding this game. It seems to take a lot to level, for example and only 5 skills seem way too little given the 5 slots are already well taken and I have to unlock the vast majority of stuff. And then skill points seem to be used for everything and there's so little of them!
Building a character seems really open-ended, on one hand it is amazing and I'm all "so I can be a summoner with a heavy sword and debuff?", on the other it's like "so my build is a bunch of random stuff I think it might be cool meshed in what probably is the least optimal way ever"

With Lvl 15 (?) you unlock a second skillbar. You can then switch between those two even when in combat. They said they implemented it this way to force the player to carefully choose what to use for the e.g. the next boss in this dungeon. In reality I think it's just because controller support on consoles.
Regarding skillpoints: you will get them just watch out for skyshards, they quickly add up. I constantly have around 10 spare skillpoints since Lvl 30...

I did too first time. Something about that first character feels like they're struggling to learn and just unlocking skills to experiment. Second time it's like "right lets do this", carefully selecting skills, practicing on the bosses that crushed you. Second time is where it's at 3rd time things get even better Well that's good news for anyone coming back who couldn't find their imperial horse

I though now that there's no monthly fee I could take a look at ESO again. But why has the price rised to 50 again? It was down to 10 before that.
There are other AA besides the default (FXAA) or do you mean DSR/Supersampling? Nice pics though.
Fuck Veteran Fungal Grotto. My group couldn't get past the boss with the chains -_-
Other than that, I have loved the heck out of this game for the past two weeks.

Well the price dropped massively so ESO got quickly bought up by everyone in anticipation of 1.6. A lot of people were buying it for the 1 month free sub and using it 1 more month before Unlimited. On a few other forums there were people hunting for all the last copies. This is a re-release for Zenimax so it will go back up to full price again now. If your lucky it might be in the Steam summer sale.

lol we did vet fungal last night. Was horrific. The lag was making that boss insanely hard. Out of interest why couldn't you do it? That one really requires everyone to know the strategy. I love hate vet dungeons. Brutally punishing, epicly rewarding! In the cave boss near the end I had to be the DD who kept getting sucked in. It bugged out while I was in there so when I came out the cave stayed open, made it much easier. Hate that cave, the spiders some times get stuck in the rocks and you get locked in there
You on EU? I've got a tonne of Ta runes I could use to help you level up enchanting. Writs got me the last bit of EXP i needed to max it out.

I changed my mind, lol. My character isn't bad and I'm not really having trouble with anything yet. There's only 2 skill points, I think, that I would not have spent. Other than that, it's just a generic DPS sorcerer, but it's still fun. I really like the curse that takes a while to explode, so I curse, my pets go (and do more damage because of the curse), I do the thingie that fills the soul gem and shortly after comes the big damage from the curse exploding. It's satisfactory even if I'm the squishiest squishy that can be squished.
