Anyone played the Imperial City DLC Pack yet...?

Would love to hear some impressions, particularly of the PvE sections. (...as apparently the pack's main draw is PvP.)

It's pretty much entirely PVP content. There's a handful of PVE missions, but they're in PVP areas so you will get ganked and there is little story.

The next PVE expansion is called Orsinium, it's due around Christmas, and adds a new area and about 20 hours of content.

Has there been any official updates on the rumoured Halloween content?

I haven't played ESO in a while (aside from logging in daily to do my provisioning writ and horse upgrade) - I'm currently sitting at Vet 2. I'm guessing the new DLC is not for me?

Is there anyone on the Xbox version of the game? Every time I log in, the voice channel is empty. Not that I ever use it, but that was how I knew people were on.

The game is fairly empty. The PVP campaigns are all nearly dead, despite the Imperial City launching. I think Destiny is probably where the audience went.

I've pretty much moved to Destiny. I love ESO, but I'm just not hooked on it like I use to be.

Ditto, I'm still dipping into ESO (and the Imperial City is great fun with friends as it's basically high stakes PVP betting) but most of time is Destiny at the moment. I'm surprised they picked Tuesday as the first DLC launch date on console - I think that may have been a big mistake by ZOS.

Werewolves got hit hard, I'm thinking of switching to Vamp now. The 25% decrease in Fire Res isn't that bad (compared to 40% like before) and the stealth passive will probably be a huge asset for sewers on IC (dungeons activate the vamps stealth passive I think).

anyone tried IC yet?

these things always come at a bad time, both TTK and the IC DLC of this game. I'm hard pressed for time now, so I don't want to buy them yet. Why not summer for these?

I hope the PS4 version stays active over the coming months. While I too am diverting my attention to The Taken King, I would really like this game to not become a ghost town.

The PvP campaigns seem well enough full on PS4 or close to it anyway throughout most of the days. Except for the non veteran campaigns and the campaigns seemingly designated for one faction to farm on. Why are there so many non veteran campaigns when only one of them ever really sees any action?

I joined a 30 day Veteran Rank campaign and it's always full.

I think so far the game has managed to maintain a pretty solid fanbase on PS4.

My PS4 was on all day and I didn't know why. Turns out it was downloading yet another humungous patch for this game. So sick of it. Ended up just deleting the entire game off my HD. The few times I do play it isn't worth the times when the stupidly huge patches bring my network to a crawl for a day.

To my recollection there have only been like 3 patches since the game came out. And this time it was to add the DLC and huge array of tweaks and additions that go along with it.

The first Vet Campaign (Azura's Star) is also full on Xbox One. But for context, these campaigns only hold 1500 people, and when Imperial City launched on PC every single campaign was full for weeks with queues several hundred deep. The numbers just aren't there on console at the moment. It's actually a reversal of the previous situation where PC had gone very quiet, but console was packed out.

By the way, Zenimax have stealth launched "Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited: Premium Edition" on console today. It's about £90 and includes the base game, Imperial Edition pre-order bonuses and 5500 crowns.

Yeah I'd say the initial console zeitgeist is gone and the Imperial City hype on console was easily overshadowed by Taken King. But PS4 has two full vet campaigns right now along with three campaigns that are being used by one of the three factions to farm, each having one faction maxed. So while the numbers aren't what they were at launch I'd say the numbers are still fine for what they are.

They did an absolutely shit job of picking their console launch for Imperial City though that's for sure.

I really wish they hadn't change some of the bonuses from a few armor sets. Lost some spell damage on a character cause of it. Also seems you can't jump as high from stealth anymore.

Heads up - if you enrol in the New Preview on Xbox One, it completely breaks The Elder Scrolls Online. After you get the Dashboard update you can no longer load your character. So don't enrol if you play ESO.

I'll take that vamp bite if you still have one. Werewolf buff hit hard on my little dude, want to try something new.

Gave it away a couple days ago but if still want it in about 4 days I can do it then. Although vampire got the same kind of nerf where you need to have a skill from it slotted to get the 10% bonus to magicka and stamina recovery.

Anyone else having problems updating to the new patch? Mine says preparing to download then when it reaches around 24% there it goes back to 0% and restarts. After restarting 3x the download stops and says error in downloading. :\

I had an error the first time it tried to download but it was just cause I didn't have enough free space on the hard drive. Downloaded fine after deleting something.

Hmmm. I have 18gb free and from what I've read the patch is 5.1gb. I guess I can try to free up more space just in case.

Guys I could use some help:

At first I got a pretty bad impression of this game after reading a lots of reviews and impressions when it came out, but now I'm hearing a lot of praise for the whole 180 that this game has done.

So i'm pretty tempted to get this on PC. Coming from Guild Wars 2 what can in expect from this game (combat, quests, etc)? And what would you say are the main issues that are still present in the game?

Hi Slash,

You may be better off in the PC OT: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=940597

Also review the first post on this OT, I may be bias (I wrote it!) but I think it gives a pretty good overview of the game.

From what I've read, the game's biggest critics fall into two categories: 1) Those who are pissed it doesn't play like a mainline Elder Scrolls game, and 2) Those who are pissed that it doesn't play like other MMOs that they have played extensively. This game is weird hybrid between the two. If you go in expecting it to follow the designs and expected tropes of either of those you will probably come away disappointed.

As a longtime Elder Scrolls fan I went in knowing what I would get and I'm having a good time. Be aware that I have never regularly played any MMO before, so if this game was missing important features or MMO staples, I'd never know it, so maybe ignorance is bliss. I'm also playing on console so that I could use a controller instead of a M&K since AFAIK they have not patched this into the PC version.

Maybe this will help you decide.

There's another category - I've talked to a bunch of people who have very strong opinions of how Elder Scrolls Online is terrible, and none of them had actually played the game. They were just repeating the buzz online, so it's basically an echo chamber of hate.

Yes, you are certainly correct. I listen to a gaming podcast where the hosts never even considered giving ESO a chance because they "heard it sucked". The negative fall-out from that early PC launch (some of which came from Category 1 and 2 people) has hurt the game immensely. Many on this board were astounded that the eventual console release was somewhat successful as they expected it to completely crater.

I picked the Xbox One version up over the weekend (only $30 at Best Buy with Gamers Club Unlocked). I have very limited experience with MMORPGs (only dabbled in WoW for a moth or so), but I was pleasantly surprised at how much it feels like an Elder Scrolls game. Only at Level 6 though so that opinion could change.

Anyone on X1 NA server AD need a guild invite? My guild is nearing 500, and has at least 100 on every day. Very active voice chat, and weekly events.

Does anyone know of a decent absolute beginner's guide to the pvp? I spawn in my alliance's stronghold or whatever and have no idea how to play. I have some quests for this area, but it seems like travel to any place is pretty vast and if I die, forget it. Anyway, I found my way to Bruma and I did a couple of pve quests, got killed, now I'm back at the starting area. I don't even know how to begin to find the warfare. It seems so quiet and barren. I'm Daggerfall Covenant and doing Azura's Star campaign i believe, on PS4. Any pointers will really help me here. Level 20 BTW

You can fast travel using shrines in the keeps your alliance controls but if a keep is under attack you won't be able use it. Also I would try a non-veteran PvP campaign instead. Going into Azura's Star will be boost your stats up to max level but everyone is still gonna have better skills and equipment. Never travel alone if possible. Learned that the hard way. Going to a keep where other players are will usually get you a group invite pretty quick. If you look at your map you can see where battles are taking place by seeing where the crossed swords symbols are. There'll be a colored sword for each faction involved in the battle. You can also find them by looking for keeps with a yellow outline around them on your map.

I just checked in on the PC version (EU megaserver) and every single campaign is on low population. Ouch. Hadn't seen that before. So the console versions are definitely more populated again.

After mainlining Destiny I gave ESO a go. Previously I had only ever gotten a char up to about level 10. Dabbled with alts ect.

So I got my Templar (love being able to heal myself) and gave it a solid week getting to level 25. Overall I really enjoy the game but man a lack of text chat is really hurting my experience. I have yet to find a guild because i simply cannot ever speak to anyone. The voice chat is buggy as hell. Vicinity chat seems to be completely broke. I get that they realized that not everyone has a console keyboard but why not include it as another option for those that do.

I can never just jot out a quick question. Guild chat when I did find one (and left) had so much background noise from people playing the game. Constant clicks, buzzes ect.

I often feel like I'm playing a diet version of Skyrim. a solo game except for the occasions assistance. This is the least social MMO I've ever played.

I really want to like it but I'm not sure I can handle the communication model.

Oktarb, have you considered trying another headset? The voice chat should just work.

Astro 50's. They work perfectly for everything but this game. I notice that when I look under social the game seems to cycle though trying to start local chat. The countdown goes 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....and then repeats indefinitely. This is after numerous days of logging in and out.

These patches are also differential, meaning that while it says something like "15.x GB of 16.xGB" it's only actually downloading several hundred MB, not GB of data.

Okay, we're tripping a bug in the game, looks like. You should get into a voice channel automatically and it just work.
