So the IC content isn't actually doable at level 10? It's just that you can "visit" these areas at that level but you clearly have to be in your VR levels in order to solo the PVE enemies?

you get powered to veteran rank 14 levels if you are below veteran rank 14, iirc. I've seen level 25 people in the sewers.

How does this compare to a singleplayer elder scrolls game?

I really enjoyed Skyrim and i can get this game for €20 on the PS4, so i was wondering if it is worth it.

Are the European ps4 servers active? Debating whether to buy for PC or PS4..
I'd kind of like it for the ps4 because it's gathering dust atm and i like to play with a controller.

It's a good elder scrolls experience, but it isn't as amazing as Skyrim. I'd say at that price it's definitely worth it.

Been playing the crap out of this recently. Currently grinding Cyrodiil to get to Veteran in Alliance Rank, and gain access to the self heal ability in the Assualt skill line. Joined a bunch of guilds, met a lot of people.

Really don't get why the game get so much hate, no MMORPG has managed to hold my attention for so long. I usually get burned quickly. But I guess it helps how varied the game can be. If I get tired of questing then I do some PvP, then some dungeon crawling. Also the battles are more entertaining since you need to roll and dodge, feels like there's player skill involved instead of everything being governed by stats.

The only thing that's bothering me is the long load times, it wasn't like that before. Hope they fix that. Cyrodiil now runs pretty damn well though, considering all the shit that goes on screen in one of those battles, it was pretty bad when the game launched, and this is in Azure' Star which is always full.

NA is Daggerfall, not sure about EU.

I imagine the NA side will be more populated too?

I have minor complaints, the main one being how difficult they've made it to group up with friends and quest

Why do people have full on conversations over world chat?

Annoying as hell.

Anyways, a guild invite would be welcome :)

My partner is looking for people to play this game with, but on a casual basis. She doesn't want to commit to specific times, but if anyone could add her for play I would most appreciate it, as would she.

Her PSN ID is Pritchieinpink, she is a level 25 wood elf nightblade.

She has had major problems teaming up with anyone, I'm told the party finder takes anything from 30 minutes to a few hours to find people, which seems a common complaint from a quick google search. I don't have the game to play with her. She will be on PS4 most of the day I think.

Thanks in advance people.

Forget about the group finder it sucks, for grouping use area chat in big cities. If she has access to Wayrest then Undaunted place is a quick way to get a group going. The other alternative will be to camp at the dungeon's entrance (at least for your alliance dungeons) and asks for group there. I'm finding it's easier to get a group by just asking in the cities.

gaf guild is dead, but I can send you an invite if you want anyway.

Need your PSN id

Edit: realized you are on Xbox1 nvm.
Tempted to buy some crowns

Anything anyone would recommend getting?
New content or mount if you don't have one yet. The rest is cosmetic stuff, and not worth the crowns really.

5k crowns for a motif is lol.

Ok thx, i have decided on getting this game but i have a hard time deciding for which platform...

As i have said my PS4 is gathering dust at the moment so i thought it might be a good idea to buy the PS4 version however i have read some things about the console version that have given me alot of doubt.

Mainly that there is no text based chat and that it is very hard to get parties together and that ESO on the console can feel very lonely.

This all seems to be caused due to the lack of text based chat..

So i was hoping for some feedback from people that actively play on console or perhaps on both as a point of reference.

Are the points i raised a real problem or is it overstated???

yeah its a problem

I play it like an elder scrolls game with other people inhabiting my world, I don't play it like an MMO because the social aspect is lacking

It kinda sucks to hear that.. and this is only a problem on consoles?

Already ordered the game for PS4 but if it is really that bad i might return it and buy on PC instead.

I play in on PC and I disagree. The text chat (most people do voice chat with TeamSpeak or another third party chat service) is heavily used to LFG, sell stuff, and just shoot the breeze. ESO definitely feels like an MMO on this platform.

I'm about two months in and this is the only MMO I've ever been able to stick with (I'm also a subscriber, which is another first for me). There's a ton of content you can solo but also a large number of opportunities for group participation. And the Cyrodil PVP arena is amazing - you really do feel like it's a battlefield and going on raids to capture an Elder Scroll or keep is just so much fun.

If you choose to go with the PC version, pm me and I"ll add you to the NeoGAF guild - if you'd like I'd be happy to go through the game with you with one of my alts (I have an un-used Ring of Mara).

Yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous that Zeni has not responded yet to requests for text chat for the console versions. They really need to make that a priority - it's just so helpful when you're LFG. Either add text chat or fix the broken group finder.

the problem with the group finder is that they put so many limitations on it.

1. can't group with people from other alliances
2. will only group you with players with the same level as you
3. doesn't automatically transports you to the dungeon

number 3 is annoying because after getting grouped, the other guys never get to the dungeons. Number 1 and 2 can be easily fixed, I believe number 1 is getting fixed in the Orsinium base-game patch.

What bothers me is how obtuse they are about it. We bought your game, and buy your dlc packs why not go ahead and give people what's probably the most requested feature in the game. I admit that voice chat is the go-to form of comunication for dungeons, raids and pvp, but it's awful for trading IMO. And since the voice chat is based on proximity and it's not zone wide then you miss out on a chunk of the community you can trade and sell your stuff to.

It's one of the most boneheaded decisions I've ever seen in any MMOs. The game would be 100 times better with text chat, it's that important of a feature in MMOs.

Yeah, I've never personally had a problem with instancing on PC - I can only speak for myself though.

Part of the LFG finder surely must date back to how they thought people were going to play the game - only staying in their Alliances with access to the IC gated by who controlled the entrances (or more of Cyradil, whatever). Then when people complained and they added Silver and Gold to let people experience the other areas and dropped gated access to the IC (wisely), they never had time to implement the LFG finder changes.

Question though - are there even chat pads available for the PS4 and XB1? I used the 360 chat pad and PS3 chat pad extensively last gen, but I'm using my PS4 only for exclusives this gen and I don't have an XB1 (yet).

The instancing is exactly the same on PC as it is on XB1/PS4.

As someone who's rarely played this game solo, it's annoying and a dumb implementation.

But it's worse for newbies than anything. After my first time through the game, it was pretty clear when each person in the group was going to have to track their own objectives.

Ok, good to know thanks. I've never had a problem with it personally on PC. As long as I made sure to pick up the quest at the beginning of the dungeon and someone was grouped with me, they were able to get credit/XP for everything we did.

Do you guys pay for ESO Plus? I've been sitting at the subscription page for 30 minutes unsure about it.

I do. First time I've ever subscribed to an MMO. I'm doing it because I like the game a lot and I want to support the developers. Access to the Imperial City and Orsinium without buying anything else is also very nice. The other benefits (slightly more experience and more cash when turning in quests and faster crafting) are nice, but not worth subbing for on their own for most people.

Maybe I'll check it out for a month and see. I haven't even logged in yet but I do like the idea of supporting them... Are they pretty regular with content excluding expansions? Also, I thought I'd be able to import my PC character and my Imperial edition material. I bought the game when it was just ESO and not Tamriel Unlimited.

This game has changed a lot. Is this just for the console versions or did the PC version change too? Coldharbour is much shorter but feels so dead. I hope there isn't too much removed...

After a long pause while they worked on the console version, Zeni has announced a pretty aggressive expansion schedule upcoming. Next month is Orisinium (and controller support for the PC version - WHOOOOOO). We also know they're working on a Dark Brotherhood expansion and a separate Thieves Guild expansion. After that I'm sure they're going to work on filling the rest of the map - so many blank regions we can't visit yet. I'm really looking forward to it.

Almost everything is the same on the PC and console versions except the console versions lack a text chatbox (they REALLY need to add one). Prices are also much higher on the console versions as a lot of PC players imported their characters to the console versions and apparently made a ton of money selling things to newbies since they were already pretty stocked up. Also console versions don't have add-ons (even though I really wanted controller support, that was the main reason I went with the PC version - the addons make the game so much more playable).

Yeah, I think I may have made a mistake getting the PS4 version. The last time I had checked people were pretty sure controller support was never coming. This had to have been right before they announced Orinsium and I should have checked again before I ordered but there was a Best Buy sale and I just had to have it. With controller support and add-ons (they were incredibly bare when I originally played) it sounds like the PC version is finally where I'd like it to be, plus I'll have all my old stuff back. It only took a year and a half to get here but they probably had to recover a ton after everyone abandoned ship.

Thanks for all the information!

No worries. It's not like the console versions are terrible, it's just that the PC version really has some significant advantages. Also all the updates are now coming to the PC version at least a week in advance (on final rollout) and a month in advance (on the play test server) before the console versions. E.g., Orisinium and controller support are available to PC players right now if they're playing on the PTS.

In any case, good places to check for info are the subreddit:

Do crowns ever get discounted?

Is the PC version also on a megaserver like PS4?

Do you guys pay for ESO Plus? I've been sitting at the subscription page for 30 minutes unsure about it.

I do, and it's mainly for the monthly crown allowance. While I'm subscribed I get the fringe benefits to leveling and whatnot, and I also get access to the expansions. When I decide to quit subbing, I will use the crowns I've saved up to purchase any of the expansions I want to keep access to. No extra money out of pocket and in the interim I got the fringe perks.

Heheh, yeah, I'm in the same boat (with the non-MMO friends). You'll definitely want to join a guild (or four! you can join five total) at some point even if you're antisocial like me just to 1.) sell all your extra crap (and you will have extra crap you don't need or want); 2.) group up with people who are doing raids, dungeons, Craglorn, Cyrodil and IC stuff missions or just random running about (you can do some stuff solo in these areas, but it's more difficult as Craglorn is designed for groups and Cyrodil and IC are both PVP); 3.) get help crafting - this really helpful once you reach the "nirnhorn" level as these are very rare drop and you'll need to break them down via researching a nirnhorned weapon/armour piece yourself before you can craft anything. The community on PC is amazingly non-toxic and mature for an MMO. I've not yet been cussed out/teabagged/mocked once, even though I'm a newbie and I haven't perfected my build. If you're on the PC and want some invites to some friendly and non-demanding guilds (some guilds have actual applications which is not my style at all, lol) let me know.

Thanks! You've been very very helpful. Two more questions...

My understanding is the PC version is on two megaservers (one for NA (I want to say in Maryland, but I could be wrong) and one for EU (in Frankfurt, Germany)). Obviously want to pick whatever server is physically closest to you - think this choice happens when you open your account, maybe.

I've never yet seen crowns get discounted, but I've only been playing since late June. The monthly sub is really the best way to acquire them as you get benefits in addition to the 1500 crowns a month allotment that a subscription gets you.

Yup that's what I'm doing as well. I'm not really big on skins, although I might pick up one of those cool mounts at some point.

I'd say yes as long as you have the right expectations. It's not as detailed as the other Elder Scrolls games. It's a ES/MMO hybrid. Still fun and enjoyable, and definitely feels like the ES universe.

Like so many others recently, I am considering picking this up. I might not play it for a bit, but $20 seems like a deal too good to pass up. I was going to go PS4 route, but I had a question for other PS4 players -

How well does this work on Remote Play? I spend a lot of my time in RP...I can adjust to slightly odd controls to an extent, but some games are nigh unplayable due to the RP set up & the inability to configure buttons (Evolve). Thanks for any help!

Game looks great though...I am currently working my way through Skyrim, albeit slowly. I pick it up once every couple of months and put some solid time in to it, but this time I feel may be my last time until I beat the main quest. I'd love to explore the world more after, but my backlog is screaming at me. I've wanted ESO since I saw it be announced for consoles, it's just a matter of fitting it into my schedule.

Edit: Nvm, my vast intellect reminded me of the all powerful search feature. For those other PS4 newcomers like me that are curious and/or lazy -
I just tried remote play and it worked beautifully... but only because I didn't get into any combat. As of now, attack in mapped to the top right corner of the back touch pad. Not ideal. Is there any way to change this, or will we just have to hope for an update from Zenimax? It's the perfect RP game, EXCEPT for that.
Anyone here use remote play on a Vita?

I did when the game first came out, but not since buying a horse. Well, I can't fucking call it because holding down the touch screen doesn't do shit. Pressing it brings up the map so it's the same button as the DS4 touch pad, man, I'm really tired of devs putting no effort into "mandatory" remote play.
That's a known "bug". You have to quickly tap the screen 5 times to summon the horse. It works but its a pain. I have to take two fingers and drum on the screen to trigger it.

What drives me crazier is the L2/R2 on the rear touch screen with no ability to remap.
Wow thanks, I'll give that a try. I made a complaint thread on the ESO forums and everything, lol.

Yeah, I also really hate the rear touch pad and the lack of button mapping. It's insane that they were going to add custom mapping but decided against it because they felt the two very similar controls schemes were the best schemes.

Edit: Just gave it a try and it wasn't working, but with both thumbs on my the screen I basically had to shake my arms for maximum tap and it worked, lol. Thanks again.
I don't think I've ever hated remote play more than when using it for this game. The back panel to attack and block was a horrible idea with this off and on touch screen thing. You gotta hit it perfectly. Can't do it.
