Okay, there's a big change coming to the game. They're making all zones in the game accessible, and level scaled. Meaning like Skyrim, you can go aware and do anything even from the beginning.

Whoa, that seems like a MASSIVE change. Where was this announced? I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Thanks for that HOT NEWZ dude. Maybe post a source for this info? ..because I sure as hell can't find any confirmation of it online.

Does that mean that all the starter zones ect are scaled up too? If you visit them at lvl 50? Always liked the fact that you progress to higher level areas and not being forced to battle mobs in every area.

It was from the developers on a podcast. I'll do a transcript later when I've gotten ahold of it.

They're applying the Orsinium model to other zones. In Orsinium, everybody is levelled to the same (you can play it at level 3 after the tutorial with VR16 players). The DLC is also going to be all autoleveled.

Also Veteran Ranks are indeed going, being replaced with just 'Veteran' and Champion Points. Gear will become gated behind CPs. Basically means you don't have to grind for status.

Edit/update: the podcast hunt continues, however they have said last month re auto levelling "Totally valid concern - its something we've been talking about for awhile internally. Not (sic) plans in the short term though..."

They have said that after the main quest completes the full map will open up - the silver and gold areas - so it sounds like Cadwell's quests are being redone (thankfully!). So they're clearly still working on this. Worth noting the gold area are very high level, so wouldn't be possible at current Veteran Rank 1 (after main quest completes). The Veteran, CP and Gear changes are also being discussed in ESO Live.

Interesting! Thanks for posting this! I assume that even though every one can visit the zones, that doesn't mean you'll see/interact with other factions, does it? Otherwise that basically makes everywhere a PVP zone..

I am very concerned about how soon this is coming and how it will be implemented. I just picked this up on a whim and quickly realized as purely a solo experience (I would never dream of turning on voice chat) it's a much better game for me than Oblivion or Skyrim because it solves the "doesn't matter where I go or what I do" problem that kills my interest in those games. It does this primarily by not scaling content to my level, but also by its MMO nature not allowing the save-scumming and always having a canonical "real" world state not affected by local bugs. Also, you can't just teleport everywhere, and seeing random other people around doing things helps with the creepy sense of isolation those other games had. Finally, the world map seems to have much more variety to it than Oblivion or Skyrim, so I was just getting pretty excited about this being a game to gradually explore over the next few months or year until I heard this level scaling nonsense which could really kill my interest completely.

good thing about cadwells gold and silver, that shit is just awful, should also make those areas more populated since they will not be gated by VR.

nice stuff all around, game just need text-chat on consoles and I'm back.

I'm torn on the level scaling. Kind of removes dangers of going to those supposed "bad areas", but then again it makes it so going back to older areas isn't an absolute bore.

Though, I did get to a new land last night where the first enemy I saw was 15 levels higher than me. I nope'd out of there so fast. But then I was excited to think when I would decide to make my first foray into that uncharted and deadly land. I miss that feeling of beeing vastly overpowered, and not knowing if this next hill I crest will be my last.

....I guess that is what is what Cyrodil is for..

Leveling from 1-50 will remain the same. Your faction areas will stay on the same level they are now. Once you reach Veteran you will have probably finished the campaign already and will be ready to play on the other faction areas. These areas will be battle leveled. So, to sum up: leveling will remain the same for 1-50. The rest of the areas outside your faction will scale.

I wonder how they will explain it in-game canon-wise? I mean, you're working for the other faction but suddenly you're doing missions for the other king, etc?

They do explain. You are working for Meridia. She put a spell on you so you can travel to the other areas and explore the world safely and unrecognizable. She says it is important to know every side of the story because we will need it for the important events to come (Oblivion War).

Is that part of a quest?

Hey guys. I can get this for €15 used. I enjoy MMO's (Guild Wars 2, WoW, SWTOR) and thought it'd be pretty cool to have a MMO I can play on my PS4. Plan is to mainly play solo, leveling up to max level doing quests while teaming up doing some dungeons. I guess that's worth €15 right?

How's the performance on PS4?

At that price, jump on it, content for 1000's of hours.

Performance is ok, I don't know what it runs at, it feels to me like it's about 30fps and it can dip frankly but that might be anecdotal, certainly not as smooth as an action game at 60 capped but then MMO's are not know for that as they can't control player count etc...

awww HELL YEA!!! CONTROLLER SUPPORT ON PC!! FINALLY!!!

I can finally jump back into this game and play it at a higher resolution and frame rate. PLUS DEM ADD ONS TOO!!!

And I found a hella cheap digital version online for 16 bucks and some change too!!!

HAIL SITHIS!!!

The performance is great thought I hear it looks better on the PC. I thin its rock solid on the PS4, The hardest part for me, coming from traditional PC MMOs was that complete lack of text chat. It's all voice and in random group a great many don't bother to use it.

Just ordered this from Amazon for $25. I've never really played an MMO, love ES (and Fallout), and figure at that price with no subscription what the heck.

Is this still being supported by the devs? Are there expansions or major updates still being planned?

It is. Orsinium just came out and there is more slated for next year, including the Dark Brotherhood.

Yep, Thieve's Guild is due around February, Dark Brotherhood around May. Paid DLC.

Orsinium is great by the way, everybody should pick it up. Very very Skyrim. There's even a quest where you have to climb up a massive mountain.

This game is really great? I'm shocked, I'm enjoying it more than skyrim, it feels more stripped down to where it feels more like oblivion? I'm sure I'm super late to the party in making those comparisons, anyway yeah I loved oblivion so this is great. It doesn't play like an mmo, it plays like an elder scrolls game. I'm even enjoying crafting thanks to the fact it makes sense. This is a really good game!

dropped a lot of my materials and gear in the PS4 US guild bank since Zi wont be playing the console version any more, no point in letting all that stuff go to waste.

And I think my PS4 is having a over heating issue since when I turn it on, it automatically goes into rest mode after being on for 30 minutes or so of being on.

but i dont even care since the thing sits there collecting dust...........literally.

Bought the game during the steam sale, are all classes "Equal" or is there any class I shouldnt be? I am thinking a "mage".. keep in mind I will be playing solo for the most part, at least for leveling.

There are a lot of options within each class, so any class can be great or terrible depending on how you choose to build it.

Sorcerers are powerful so no worries on that front, but I think my favorite mage option is the Dragon Knight (think fire mage).

I think I may go summoning sorcerer (warlock?) for leveling at least. Can you respec later on?

All classes have the potential of being anything they want. Of course some classes are better for specific roles:

Templar = Best Healer;
Dragonknight = Best Tank;
Nightblade = Best Stamina DPS;
Sorcerer = Best Magika DPS.

But I have a friend who is a Nightblade and he is able to play all the roles (Tank, Healer or DPS) perfectly. You just have to know which skills/sets to use for every situation. ;)
And answering to your earlier question: yes, you can respec anytime you want.

You can respec with a respec scroll you buy in the Crown store OR you can respec via a rededication shrine, but it costs 50g per skill/attribute point. It used to be 100g per point, I believe.

So 2015 is done. Here's what I learned:

  • I didn't really start enjoying the game until I started running dungeons.
  • The game clicked once I hit about level 30.
  • I still hate not having good old fashion text chat. I feel lonely a lot. I like reading barrens chat apparently.
  • I love non targeting healing. Not having to click on party members to heal them allows me to actually see the game. I can see the danger telegraphs. In so many other MMOs I get retina damage from just staring at health bars. In ESO I not only get to see the battle but I can participate in damage.
  • I hate that all those stupid ingredients take up inventory space.
  • The auction houses just suck. No search by text feature? What is this 1990? Wait we could do that back then...
  • I wish they would adopt more account wide aspects so that it was a more alt friendly game.
  • I though race choice was way more important than it really is. I would like to a re-roll race option.
  • Player housing please. Anything. It will never be as good as Wildstar but man I want a home.

I am hoping a lot of those issues get fixed up in the coming year or so. DCUO went through some massive growing pains, but it's easily one of the most fun and intuitive MMO's now (IMO, of course).. I kinda hope ESO follows the same path.

..and yes, for the love of Hermaeus Mora, please give us text-chat!

Bought at Steam sale last minute.
Any tips and trick before play for the first time?

Don't get caught up looting every single crate unless you're seriously into crafting cooking. Look for chests, bookcases and other unique objects. barrels and crates generally just hold low level crafting ingredients.

Don't be afraid to jump into group dungeons. they're fun and really well done.

The classes sing to a single type ie Tank, healer, DPS. But all can use a healing staff and all have good self heals.

I liked Orsinium (PVE) way more than Imperial City (PvP) so depending on you're play style these two expansions are very different.

Edit: BTW you're in the console thread but you bought the PC version :D

Me and a bunch of buddies are playing on XB1 EU Ebonheart Pact - any other gaffers on here doing the same?

I played on PS4 before but friends stopped playing. My housemate really wanted to get back into the game, and my other buddy just got an XB1 for Christmas so I got them both the game on XB1 as a gift. We've since picked up a couple more friends playing with us :)

Bought the game over the weekend and I've been playing it quite a bit. I'm currently at Level 10 in the Daggerfall Covenant. I've gotten pretty heavily into crafting, but I don't seem to see any other ore other than Iron around. Does it comes later on, or is it just that I'm not looking in the right places?

I've only been to Daggerfall, Stros M'Kai & Bethnikh.

You should start seeing other ores as you progress to the next area/map in your quest progression.

Thanks! I've still got a ways to go it seems, as I won't see the next region for a few more levels. What's kind of interesting is that I found a set of armor that looks like Breton Drawven armor, but is made of Iron. Oh well, looks nice either way!

Just an FYI, but there's a new post on the official site looking further into the year.

Since I saw it mentioned a few times on this page:

Enable text chat on consoles later this year to help players – if they wish – to communicate zone-wide with other players, have easier access to emotes, and be able to chat with others using text instead of voice. This will be optional, and we will continue to fully support voice chat on console as the primary means of communication.

so guys is this better than final fantasy 14 online? im trying to choose from the 2

I love them both to be honest. FFXIV can be a bit of a grind but it's really fun. That being said, I'm an Elder Scrolls freak so this has been my go to since it launched on PS4.

Haven't played since August or so

Did they ever fix the combat? The animations and sense of impact always felt right out of some low budget F2P browser game. Some improved sound design would go a long way.

Should've been from the very beginning but good stuff from ZOS to listen to player feedback, just hope we don't have to wait long. The moment text chat goes live, it's the moment I go back to this game.

Just read they are putting scrolling combat text too, so they are finally bringing the MMO part to this game.
