The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited - |OT| - Console edition

Do we have an EU Xbone guild at all?

I have a level 11 Dragonknight in the Ebonheart Pact and a lowly level 4 Templar in Daggerfall Covenant. I bought ESO to play with UK based friends but they haven't really taken to the game and I've been running solo.

It may sound crazy but I'm seriously considering picking this up on PS4 as well, as I suspect the Euro server and its GAF Guild will be busier.

As a veteran of LOTRO and TSW on PC I'm absolutely loving the game so far! I always thought MMO's on console would work despite some dismissive cries and scoffs from those in the mouse and keyboard community.

I know it will never happen but I'd love to see Funcom bring The Secret World across. The gameplay and modern setting is perfect for consoles. One can dream eh?

Back on topic.... I'm looking forward to meeting you all in Tamriel!

Yes and no
There is a neogaf guild but it has 6 people in it including myself and I'm the only active player it seems.

I'm lvl36 templar in ebonhart and not grouped with anyone yet.

Not much better on EU PS4 tbh, looks like there are a lot of members (several pages in the roster), but I've only ever seen maximum of 4 people online at once (other than during the launch week).

That's a damn shame. It would appear that everyone has moved on to the next big thing. Always seems to be the same on forums, so many games and formats to appreciate but so little time! A global megaserver might have made things easier, as shared servers for both desktop and console players look to be out of the question.

And here I just started this yesterday on PS4 :(

I'm really diggin this game, but the more I hear and read how veteran ranks are, the more I dread reaching level 50 (currently 25).

So is the general consensus still that playing this solo is a viable and worthwhile experience?
95% of my time played is solo

So the Templar.. I'm guessing he is not like a pally that wears heavy armor and use swords?

I want to be able to heal and do damage with out wearing robes

It might be worth considering setting up new or refreshing the old guilds for the EU console formats? Regular GAF players would have a place to party up and socialise, especially if trusted friends from outside the board were allowed to join.

Be it small or large, a dead guild is next to useless in an MMO, wherever or whatever the location.

You can wear plate and wield a sword and still be a caster in this game. Aren't any real restrictions on it, other than the skills associated with light armor gives Magicka regen (iirc), but there's nothing forcing you to spend points on those skills.

Edit: might be different later in the game I suppose. Also I think I read somewhere that it's good to mix and match light/medium/heavy armor while leveling up, so you get ranks in all three, so you can switch between them easier at higher levels.

Interesting, I'll stick it out with a Templar on Xbox and my night blade on ps4

I'm templar and wear majority heavy armour.
I use a restoration staff as primary a healer build but do have a destruction staff on my 2nd weapon slot

Debating on picking this up today since its on sale at best buy....

Yep...me to but this game has intrigued me from the get-go....a little of Diablo mixed in at 3rd & 1st point of view. Be hard pressed to ignore the $20.00 savings....will just need to find some PS4 friends here in the states.

I'm waiting on my research to get done so I can craft that special Death Wind's armor in the Chill House. I already have the boots and the inferno staff, which gives me a bonus to armor and once I craft the cuirass in ~7 hours I'll get a bonus to health.

So I'm thinking about grabbing this on PS4 for $40 at BB today, but I've always leaned towards PC as where I was going to buy this game. Has anyone played both? Which one should I go with, PS4 now or PC when I can get that cheaper?

I keep hearing the PC version is sorta dead...no idea if true but an MMO with a dead community doesn't sound like fun. Again, no idea if true or not just what I've heard.

How fun is this if you're playing alone? I mean in terms of exploration, lore and stuff, because it's 11€ now on GMG and I may or may not bite at that price.

If you are into Elder Scrolls just get it, especially for 11€ you cant do anything wrong...It plays like an elder scrolls game with the social features of an mmo on top. Just dont go in and expect an 100% open world, the content thats available to you is of course restricted to your level like in any other mmo...If you take your time to read everything etc. there are some really nice quests to be found, all quests are fully voiced which helps a lot. Of course there are also simple fetch quests etc., but what do you expect its an mmo they want you to sink in a lot of your time...

Does that gmg version redeem on Steam? I've been waiting for that sort of deal.
Nope, it redeems on the ESO website. I was going to wait for Steam too, but I think the only difference is that it'll be in your library and will track your playtime, you still have to download the launcher I think. And I don't think it'll go to even $20 on Steam any time soon.

It was $20 on Steam late last year during the holiday sales. But they didn't discount it during the summer sales. But yea, there's no telling when Steam will hit that price again.

That was just before the announcement of TU I believe, so I think they didn't discount it during the summer sale (and won't for a while) because they're treating it as a new release rather than a re-release.

I'm very much into the Elder Scrolls but the reason I was asking is because I hear a lot of people (or a very vocal minority) saying how TESO is a "generic MMO with an Elder Scrolls skin" instead of the other way around (Elder Scrolls expanded to MMO universe).

Disagree. I play 99% solo and the story/lore and exploration make it a standard ES game for me with MMO stuff tacked on. I really enjoy the game and haven't really done much of MMO stuff yet.

The problem with those statements is that I've never played an MMO that handled class building and abilities the way ESO does. It's very open ended in that regard and feels very Elder Scrolls. All of the delves/collectibles/etc. give a reason to explore every inch of the map too, unlike most generic MMOs that throw you from one quest hub to the next just ticking away at the boxes. Add on the fact that it doesn't have traditional quest hubs and that everything is 100% voice acted and you've got an Elder Scrolls stew going.

It's an MMO for sure but as far as it being a copy and paste of the WoW template I'm not really seeing that.

Had 10 bucks of ps money waiting for something i could buy on sale and my eso subscription ate it up, lol. Forgot about it, didnt want to renew. Had to shut off automatic funds so it doesnt happen again. Dammit.

I'm in the same boat.

I think I am gonna grab it. If I don't like it I'll trade it in to gamestop and break even. GameStop has get 50% more bonus on trade ins if you have a coupon. The trade in value is 33 store credit. So if I don't like it, I'll get 48 back in credit. Nothing to lose at this point.

I have a few that are playing it so I'm sure we can make something happen

me too, especially since i've been hankering for a skyrim replay (never actually beat it) but my 360 red-ringed last week :(

I loved playing skyrim and been interested in this. Only thing is I was part of the beta and it was kinda butt in beta but it seems things are a bit better now.

Another thing I like about this game is the minimal UI (which does feel very Elder Scrolls) - so many MMO's have so much garbage cluttering your view, it's refreshing.
