The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- First Gameplay Trailer!

Oh, damn. Now it's on.
I actually think both are great, but for a Nordic tale of muscle-bound men doing EPIC SHIT, Manowar would be the superior soundtrack. Blind Guardian has a much more temperate European feel to it, probably due to their Tolkien influences.

Graphics > Art design

There I said it.

GAF fetishism of 'Art design' is just that - a fetish.
Dark Souls may not be as impressive graphically, but I still prefer its art style. Therefore, I like how it looks more than this. That doesn't mean that Skyrim aint damn sexy lookin' though.

You're not entirely motionless when you're walking. It's jarring that one has head bobbing and the other is completely static. It should just be different degrees of it.

I understand that, but from a gameplay perspective I'd get dizzy having my character walking and the head bobbing in first person. That's why usually you only bob weapons and not the head in FP games.

My body is so ready. The game looks incredible, minus that scene of the river (that looked hideous).
Edit: And holy fuck, Art Direction is always greater than Graphics.

To me, Skyrim looks brighter, more natural and more varied in the style department. I loved demon's souls, but its dark tone felt a little cramped to me; don't really know how to describe it.

I'm gonna make Thor. Warrior, Hammer weapon with Lightning magic build, huhuhu.

I was going to continue playing Dragon Age. Now I can't bring myself to :(

This explains so much.

And I'm sure Skyrim will have pretty glaring flaws which cannot be detected yet since we only have a trailer to go by.

- Probably a boring/stupid story
- Bethesda can't write,we know that- Don't expect much from quests
- we will see how the combat system hold up,these guys aren't From software...
- we will see how the leveling and level scaling end up

I predict yet another 93-94% rated game with ton of game design flaws...

After Fallout 3 I think they can actually manage. Just don't pull out an Oblivion on me this time.

Anyway, very well made trailer. No real windows though, which suggests indoor/outdoor transitions remain. Console RAM limitations I suppose.

Those screengrabs (?) make me believe that it really is 360 footage.

Looking at them away from the trailer, I agree. That's not a complement.

Good marketing on the part of Betheada to have a trailer first. Screen grabs would not have gotten as much hype as the trailer did.

Hopefully PC version is the true version...or mods will do the work for them again. Whatever.

most games that have it let you turn it off, if its there.

The trailer didn't wow me as much as it just filled me with confidence that this game will be great. They know what they're doing.

just curious, the trailer makes it look like there's headbobbing in first-person. will that cause your migraines?

Demon's Souls had a pseudo-horror feel to it. Very tense.

Very different to what Skyrim will be.

It shouldn't be anything too extreme, but I think anything that improves the sliding feel their games typically have would do absolute wonders for immersion.

The track in this trailer is called "Sons of Skyrim" and its from The Elder Scrolls V Soundtrack.

So many people love the music in this trailer, i really hope Bethesda release the track for free just like Square Enix did with Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Few things hint at it. Most obvious is the waterfalls and the shot with the distant dragon flying away.
Nick "Ratsofatsorat" Breckon said this trailer was all captured on 360 in the countdown thread.

It does to me in Arma 2. I hope they offer a slider to change how powerful it is.

I don't know, I hope they don't go overboard with that stuff. I'm fine with it being restricted to just bobbin' while sprinting.

You don't say. :p

I thought "Sons of Skyrim" was the track from the teaser trailer, though.

I keep watching the trailer, and it's not getting me any less hyped. Not one bit.
I keep replaying it on my 360. Seeing it on a big TV is just wow.

I think Oblivion had a mod that removed the transitions to decent effect, and that had transparent windows. It put a hurting on the framerate with most rigs, though.

But yeah, it should be something naturally in the game. Perhaps we'll somehow see it in the PC version with the vanilla game.

"that video is where i will be for the next 6 months after the game comes out.
tell the kids i love them.
I left some money in the bank.
take care"

What lesson? Multiple GOTY awards and fantastic sales?

The validity of classing ME 2 as an RPG debate is getting very tiring.

I just can't believe we are going to get both Skyrim and ME 3 within a short space of time of one another.

What if I make a skinny nerd-mage?
Such a creature would look ridiculous bellowing a mighty Dragon Shout.

This is seriously a point of roleplaying for me. Morrowind felt like a haven for rogues and thieves for me. Skyrim looks like some epic Conan in the frozen North adventure. I couldn't imagine a (first) playthrough being anything but indulging that fantasy.

I enjoy playing games with technically good graphics but generic art design more than games with shitty graphics but hot 'Art direction'

Often art direction is used as an excuse for lazy, incompetent, console graphics here on NeoGAF.

You must hate everything 3 years after it releases.

I'm ok with that. Sure it would be great to be able to look inside buildings, and even better to be able to look outside through a window. But the transitions were always less than 2 seconds on PC even with my old PC that had an IDE harddrive and 1.5 gigs of ram. I cant speak on how long it took on consoles though.

Head bobbing can sometimes give me issues, yes. Improper FOVs, some third person cameras (like in PoP), low framerates, and screen tearing all fuck me up to varying degrees. Nausea, eye strain (leading to regular headaches), migraines, etc. depending on the issue.

Yes, my eyes are very sensitive :/

ouch. :/

I'll probably finally get off my arse and build a new rig for this game. I'd like to get it day 1 but it kinda depends on what's on the horizon as far as hardware goes. But there's probably gonna be some good black friday deals so I shouldn't have to wait too long!

Can't believe this machine is already a hair over 3 years old.
