The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

Sorry for the double post but that was a couple of days ago and I was wondering if someone could assist me. I installed the ACE combat mod and it doesn't seem to be working. The spell that allows me to configure the mod doesn't work. Also, the CivilWar mod (I think it's called CivilWar Unrest) doesn't seem to work either. I can spawn the CivilWar god but he doesn't allow me to configure anything. And is there a mod to slightly speed up the gameplay?

I've installed the latest Climates of Tamriel (esm and bsa files), and I really like what it does to the weather and lighting. But nights are WAY too dark.

My problem is this- I realize that if I were to install the CoT ENB, I would be able to configure the nighttime brightness level with the .ini. BUT, I also have installed the FXAA Injector Preset mod and LOVE what it does to the visuals. I don't want to give this up. This particular mod uses d3d9.dll, so I can't use the CoT ENB (also with a d3d9.dll that would overwrite the FXAA d3d9.dll).

Is there anything else I can do to improve the nighttime lighting with CoT? I've tried out a couple of light source mods (CLARALUX and Wearable Lanterns), but they don't help much.

If you're using NMM to install it, there's an issue where the CoT installer doesn't actually use the Night preset you chose. You'll need to open the zip file and take the corresponding Night brightness esp and put it in Skyrim/Data, then enable it in the load order.

Ugh, I finally got all the mods I want for a playthrough right now, all loaded in the correct order and they all work, but the game seems to crash more often now. So annoying.

I'm in search of a good balance or overhaul mod I guess, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Requiem sounds cool, but maybe a bit more hardcore than I'm going for. I really just want level and loot scaling out, always knowing that whatever dungeon you enter is going to have enemies and treasure tailored to you level kind of kills the fun after a while. Thoughts?

K ENB. That is all.

Although Gionight released some SS that look pretty amazing recently. Now to see what Opethfeldt will do.

Do you want an overhaul that will be compatible with a bunch of other mods? Or is the overhaul going to be the majority of your modding?

If you want one that's compatible with a bunch of stuff, ACE or SPERG.

If you're planning on just using an overhaul, Requiem or SkyRe are probably what you're looking for.

Thanks, I'll check these out!

I'd also suggest you guys use the mod that starts your character at lvl 0. All skills are at 0 besides your racial skills which i believe start at 5 or 10. Game is alot better this way.

Also....I decided that i would not use any potions to restore stamina, health or Magicka. Everything is restored by food or plants, etc.

No fast travel. No waiting. Expert difficulty(should use master though)

So last night Dragonborn released but it didn't have any HD Textures like the last DLC's. Well today Bethesda released another HD Texture mod through Steam that covers all of the DLC.

Do we have any idea what mods are affected by Dragonborn and the new HD Texture pack?

Can someone help me with this? I know its caused by AO or SSAO.. but I cant figure out how to get rid of it without completly removing the AO. Im using Skyrim RL-ENB profile

Try turning off Reflections in the Skyrim launcher. Try turning off each option 1 by 1 and see if it helps. It might be a bug with reflections from objects.

Is Texture Pack Combiner needed? The STEP guide doesn't seem to adequately go over why it is needed.

Edit:

So STEP Guide currently has:

High Resolution Texture Pack

Hi-Res DLC Optimized

Texture Pack Combiner

In order. So the texture pack combiner combines 3 mods not listed in the STEP Guide, but referenced on the wiki, but one of these mods is also not available anymore?

Even Skyrim Gems which is usually updated recently unlike STEP Guide says under utulities "Use this mod to merge the 3 popular texture packs in the most optimal way - Skyrim HD - 2K Textures, Serious HD Retexture Skyrim and Skyrim Realistic Overhaul. Cestral spent countless hours comparing textures from each mod to choose the best texture between the three."

Skyrim Realistic Overhaul is no longer available. Should I still use the Texture Pack Combiner to combine Skyrim HD 2K Textures and Serious HD Rexture Skyrim? Also any other mods need to be used with Texture Pack Combiner?

The texture pack combiner is pretty fantastic.

You can find a torrent of SRO online. It's where I got mine. The pack combiner effectively shuffles everything up so the world doesn't look repetitive and static with the textures. So, yes, you need it, if you want to be able to use more than one texture pack.

No the nexus page, the TPC has a whole list of other mods that are compatible with it.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I'm just getting into this thread.

Do you know of a mod that allows for attacking while in mid-air from a jump?

Also interested in being able to jump while sprinting.

There's a bug where I'll be running and suddenly I'm 50 feet above the ground and I fall and die.

Anyone else experience this? Google search is infuriating ineffective.

Has to be a mod or some stupid physics bug.

Edit:
120 fps physics engine bug. Lame.

Well Dragonborn was short.

The game really looks dated even with mods these days. Looking forward to Bethesda's offerings for next gen starting later this year I hope. This year hits their dev cycle, so it could happen.

Looking for a good ENB and while not required bokeh DOF is highly favored

I used to use the official ENB release on the Nexus (back when Boris Vorontsov used skyrim nexus) and loved the look of it.

Anything close would be appreciated. Not a huge fan of things that make it pitch black at night.

Here are some screens from my previous Skyrim install which I really enjoyed the look of

Is there a save game manager for the game? One that say lets you select a character and have all of their saves put into the save folder and the characters saves you were using before are moved back to their own folder in the mod?

I can never understand how Bethesda fucks up such a simple concept as selecting a character profile.

I think letmegooglethatforyou.com is banned, but... google "Skyrim save game manager" and this is the first result:

well the next gen transition will probably add an extra 6+ months if they are going to overhaul the engine so I am expecting Fallout 4 to be a 2014 release myself.

I might be missing something, but isn't this video about a guy with a jailbroken PS3 (something of questionable legal standing if I'm not mistaken) talking about how he took DLC files which he couldn't have had legal access to and inserted them into the game for free? That sounds like a solid justification for legal action.

You can have a jainbroken PS3 and mess around with your games, like you can mess around with your PC files since the ability to enter their folders is available. He can also easily buy dlc for the PC version even if he don't have the PC version (I have no doubt that he has the PC version and use the PS3 version to mess around with because he's interested in what's possible). There is no proof at all, no hint at him having pirated anything. The DLC stuff was from the PC version, which surprisingly works on PS3.

It isn't the same, because overcoming the encryption of software on the PS3 is a violation of the DMCA and disseminating information about the exploits makes it fairgame for safe harbor c&d takedown requests.

On PC, nothing is encrypted, so no copyright law is flouted by just screwing around with files.

He's not instructing anybody on how to jailbreak a PS3. The videos in question are, literally, video of the DLC working on the PS3. There's no instruction on where to go, what to do, etc. There are comments on what he did, but it's still not step by step details on how to get the DLC running.

In addition, Zenimax's has no ground for a DMCA take down request due to the fact none of their products were toyed with, it's the Sony that jailbroken no their game. Now, sure, he may have pirated something. Copyright infringement and DMCA take downs, however, are two different things

Of course, I may be wrong. However, I don't think I am, as Zenimax didn't push the issue.

Hey guys - just reinstalled Skyrim and decided I'm going to play a fresh game. I also am getting a new gaming laptop soon, so I'm going to try and play with a wired 360 controller.

I have a few questions/requests. I'm listing the mods I'm for sure installing.

- SkyUI
- 360 Revamp
- Glowing Ore Veins
- Deadly Dragons
- PISE (does this work with the DLC? Does it feel fairly balanced?)

I'm also looking for a few recommendations...

- I love bow and arrows. I loved poison arrows. I hated that I had to reapply poison every shot. Is there any mod that improves archery as a whole?
- Any great crafting mods? I loved crafting, but it felt a bit...stale? There wasn't much reason to craft, but it's one of my favorite ways to spend spare time.
- Any highly recommended "new quests/areas/regions" mods? I think there is that Moonpath mod? What other great ones exist?
- An odd request...In line with crafting mods, any interesting mods that add farming or fishing or other "survival" aspects?

Thanks for any help!

Hearthfire might worth looking into. It does add new items to craft (baking, a few other new foods, and then the whole house itself). It also adds farming (only at the new house locations though). If you do grab it, you will learn to appreciate Iron and Butter.

Woo! I got my PC back from repairs yesterday. Time to resume my playthrough and my mod hunt.

And to nicoga3000: might want to check out Frostfall if you haven't done so already. I'm debating on whether install it in the middle of my playthrough or just wait until I start a new one with it.

They released a new version of STEP.

Of course they also forgot to include anything resembling a decent comprehensive changelog. They tell you some of the stuff that was removed or replaced in the changelog, but comparing the last version of STEP to this one it looks like they missed a couple. They also changed options, took stuff out, and added different ini tweaks without mentioning it.

I was in the middle of a STEP instillation, so this is kind of frustrating. I guess they figure people are going to start from scratch like they do every time. They are also recommending not using Nexus Mod Manager anymore.

Anyone here use Steam mover or any other similar program to move Skyrim to an SSD? Should that be something I do before or after installing mods?

Or can I just point NMM to the Skyrim folder on the SSD instead? I'm not really sure how it should work.

Or is what I install with NMM automatically cloned to the SSD? I guess I don't really understand how the whole symbolic link system works.

i have skyrim on my ssd. uninstalled and reinstalled it on a new directory on my ssd via steam, then on Nexus Mod Manager, pointed the skyrim directory to where it is in the SSD, while the mods foldier where it downloads all the mods on my regular drive so it doesn't take up so much space

Ok, that's what I was thinking of doing. Sounds like the way it should work.

Thanks.

Guys, I've tried some lighting and weather mods, but all I've downloaded make the night almost unplayable. I have Climates of Tamriel, Enhanced Lights and FX, Realistic Lighting overhaul and ultra realistic world lighting.

Any mods that don't modify the vanilla night?

Edit: I've already pinned down to urwl the problem I had, right now I'm using CoT + ELFX + RLO, all at once.

Also, I've tried using enb to no avail, it doesn't work.

Do you want it to? If you post a few details I (or others) could help out. Are you using a laptop with nvidia optimus?

Are you trying to use wrapper or injector version of the ENB? I can only get the wrapper version to work.

Nope, I'm using a 7950.

I'm using the wrapper version.

I don't know where I fail. I have in the skyrimprefs.ini everything I need, and the correct .dll, but the game just crashes whenever I start it with the enb files.

Edit: It seems that I cant make the 3rd level of brightness on Climates of Tamriel work (It's like the vanilla night). Here's the load order of my mods, any help?

Crashes at startup are generally a hooking conflict. Are you using anything like MSI afterburner, Xfire etc... with an on screen display? Even something like fraps?
