The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

No, I never downloaded that mod.

I tried some different distant terrain and LOD mods on top of summer flora overhaul and remember having issues with my trees, the bigger trees mod also screwed them up... had to get rid of them and re-install some mods including summer flora overhaul. Might be something similar to that.

Please help me pay less than $39.99 for a digital version of Skyrim Legendary Edition

I bought this game when it came out on the 360 and enjoyed it for north of 800 hours. I got all the expansions. So here we are and the itch has me. I just upgraded my PC and I want to play this through again with mods on the PC but for as cheap as possible. I need it this weekend... like tonight if possible. Any deal hunters know a way to get this on the cheap without having to own a physical copy?

You should consider buying with keys. I personally haven't tried it, but a lot of people seem use it often.

Go to:http://www.tf2outpost.com/search/214885783
I saw someone sell Skyrim LE for 6 tf2 keys (1 key $2,5)

Can someone suggest the best looking mods to improve all the enemies in the game? Cheers.

Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack

Bellyaches HD Dragon Replacer Pack

Skyrim Immersive Creatures ( be sure to enable the lore friendly option in game unless you want to have Dinosaurs walking around Skyrim.

Thank you...

I totally broke down and paid the $40 about 1.5 hours ago :(

I'll get my value out of it though :3

Oh you will , you certainly will :p

Going to dive in and start nodding today. My first time playing so I only want visual mods. Any recommendations on how to gussy her up? I got 4gb of vram so hopefully that helps.

Working my way through Skyrim on Legendary with "Skyrim Immersive Creatures" mode and I an getting worked by everything because I'm banking my skip points. I've never been so tempted to clock down difficulty in the middle of a play-through.

(I'm only on level 15 and skeevers can one-shot me D:)

Official HD Textures or 2K Textures? Or should I use both?

I keep getting mixed responses here. Some prefer official, some 2K.

Official HD Textures overwritten with SRO textures.
2K textures are good for landscapes but they don't tile that well in other places last time I checked.

I've never found legendary difficulty that fun. It's built for having an overpowered follower or being a conjuration mage. It's better to install mods that make enemies stronger and smarter and keeping the difficulty level at adept ~ expert.

Its all personal preference, there is plenty of texture packs to use. Official, Skyrim HD - 2k textures full (4k textures) and lite (2k textures), SeriousHD, Skyrim Realistic Overhaul, Vivid Landscapes, Tamriel Reloaded, aMidians texture overhaul to name a few. Then there is all the specific item texture replacers, too many to count for those.
All in all they are all great in one way or another.

My favorite of all time which doesn't get any love is Transparent and Refracting icicles and Frost Atronach - Mainly because of the name.

I've also been having a hell of a time trying to get a proper ENB to work. I've spent the last few days trying to get RealVision to work, and I keep running into problems like a borked sun/sky.

I was using RCRN before, but was told that one was prone to crashes too. That said, I liked how it looked when combined with RealVision:

I just want something that's pretty and not a pain in the ass to install.

Edit: I think the sun issue has been fixed, but now I have an issue where shadows don't show up from a distance, but pop in when I get close.

I also may look into reinstalling RCRN, because I liked the colors it added.

Have you changed any settings in your skyrim INI files

Skyrimprefs.ini in your documents/mygames/ skyrim folder look for bFloatPointRenderTarget and set it to 1 if its not. Mandatory for ENB installs.

You can change some shadow settings in the same ini to increase how far or close shadows get rendered.

I did that, but now I'm trying to find out the best ENB to use.

I'm looking at a few like Sharpshooter and Project ENB, but I just can't decide.

I used Project ENB for a while, any of Bronze316's enbs at pretty good. I'm using Serenity ENB which does a good job of hiding the distant terrain because skyrim distant detail sucks ass.

I have some very annoying issues with most ENBs. They don't seem to like my hardware (GPU is a 780GTX), even though they perform smoothly in "normal" conditions. The problem seems to be triggered during instances when the ENB rendering temporarily deactivates, like during loading screens. Once the loading is finished and it starts running again, my performance goes straight to hell and the framerate drops to 10 or so. I have to restart the game to get rid of it (I've tried the feature that flushes the video memory or whatever, so it doesn't seem related to that). This also happens if I try to run Oblivion with ENBs, and it's triggered in the same way usually when I go to my character/inventory screen (I can tell that the ENB deactivates from this since the antialiasing is clearly disabled on the character model). It's what made me stop using ENBs.

And on top of that, ENBoost seems to give me Visual C++ Runtime crashes at random. Even if I just use the ENBoost for performance increase without any actual ENB effects.

Anyone tried Skyrim Skills Redesigned?
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49526/?
This mod imo, is better than Skyre, ACE and Sperg, yet only has 36 endorsements. I've been playing with this for a while and it's just simply excellent.

It fixes enchanting perk tree, so each perk doubles the effectiveness of certain equipments (i.e, the first perk doubles the enchanting effects on rings) so you don't have to make millions of drain health iron daggers to make enchanting worthwhile. It actually pays off to the buy that expensive filled grand soul gem early in the game to enchant items.

Also fixes smithing. Instead of other mods that allow breaking down equipments to get more ingots and leather, this mod gives you "alloys" that are required to make armors. This means you can't go collect millions of iron helmets to get iron ingots to make millions of iron dagger to get ebony gears early in the game.

Fixes alchemy too. Since drinking a potion plays a short animation, can't abuse drinking 10 potions simultaneously while in combat. Makes more expensive potions that heal more all that more valuable. I feel this is better implementation of potion system then the ones used in other mods that make healing gradual.
Restoration is fixed in a similar manner. Can't abuse it anymore.

Those are the big changes. Most other perk trees are improved as well (pickpocket and lockpicking are combined like in SkyRe and pickpocketing is made more viable). Pickpocket perks has been made into unarmored perks so playing as a mage and wearing robes allow you to evade attacks and so forth.

And best of all, there's a modular version so you can pick and choose which perk trees are overhauled, meaning it can easily be made compatible with other mods. So good.

I have a similar system (780Ti) and ENB is working really well. May be update your drivers and use the correct ENB version for the preset you're using.
Also try and disable ExpandSystemMemoryX64 in enblocal.ini.
To do that, go the your skyrim director, and open enblocal.ini. Then find
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true
and change that line to
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false

The feel when you get the most perfect mods and make your own patches through tes5edit to make everything compatible. It's time-consuming but more rewarding than going through Bleakfalls Barrow for the thousandth time.

I did that, but now I'm trying to find out the best ENB to use.

I'm looking at a few like Sharpshooter and Project ENB, but I just can't decide.
What kind of rig do you have?

I don't have any ENB's installed and I get much better results with other sorts of graphic mods. Yours:

Mine:

What follower mods do you guys use? I used to use Ultimate Follower Overhaul but on this new playthrough I switched to Amazing Follower Tweaks, which I really prefer. UFO is more lore friendly while AFT is a bit deeper and more user friendly. AFT also lets you turn your followers into vampires or werewolves, which is great.

In other news, I spent 45 minutes decorating my new home Lakeside Manor this morning, only to leave and come back to find all my perfectly placed belongings strewn across the floor. :( Apparently this happens to almost everyone and the "fix" is to just throw all your decorations on the floor, exit the house, and then reload the game. After that the stuff shouldn't move again. I haven't gotten to test it yet but I really hope it works. For now my home looks like a disaster zone... which might make sense because I'm a destruction mage and my husband is Marcurio lol.

Ok, I'm kind of at wit's end. I'm having performance problems and it feels as though I shouldn't be.

I'm running an i5 3570K @ 4.0Ghz, and twin 7970 GEs in Crossfire.

I'm currently running through STEP, and even at almost vanilla, with only DLC, I wasn't able to achieve a rock steady 60FPS. As I add mods, performance has been slowly dropping. After completing STEP 2G, I'm dropping to an average of about 50, with a minimum of 10. Disabling Crossfire ups the minimum to 19, and the average to 53. Any idea what's going on? I expect performance drop from running with everything cranked up, and tons of graphics mods. I just expected more headroom. It's incredibly aggravating.

I just did a full vanilla run, and it still drops to 40 at its minimum.

I should add my benchmark is the opening sequence, and the drop occurs as the cart approaches the Helgen gate.

Going back the issue I had with tree and terrain pop-in, I just remembered that I have the High Resolution Texture DLC pack installed. Would that cause a conflict with the mods I have on?

EDIT: Also, i tried using Immersive Creatures, but it crashes to desktop instantly. Is there a common fix for this?

Do you have Ugridstoload set to something higher then 5 in your ini file ?

Also make sure these are put to 0 also because those should only be enabled if you run an ENB otherwise your FPS will take a hit without any visual difference .

I don't know what is causing your pop in problem but as for IC:

Do you have dawnguard installed ? it requires it .

Yeah, an instant crash to desktop (without error mesage) points to a loading error. One of your files is missing the neccesary Master (could be IC missing Dawnguard).

Nope, that's at default. Haven't messed with it at all yet.

Also, you refer to setting "these" to 0, but I don't see anything listed. What are you referring to?

oops i forgot to include the ones i meant .

bFloatPointRenderTarget=
bTreesReceiveShadows=
bDrawLandShadows=
bShadowsOnGrass=

Oh my textures are all fucked up and I don't know whyyyyyyyyyy. But it's causing a ton of CTD's, so I need to unstall them all and reinstall everything methodically.

I haven't much messed with ENBs. I have it installed but only the performance part of it, or at least, that's all that's configured. I'll try messing with these values tonight.

On Friday evening, I decided to sit down and get my head around mods, and I only "finished" yesterday evening (though I was busy on Saturday). I watched a bunch of videos by Gopher on YouTube (very helpful), spent some time playing around, and getting the help of a friend who knows far more about this stuff than I do.

It was a bit of a headache, but definitely worth it, as the game looks amazing now. I downloaded the Seasons of Skyrim ENB. I think I'd need to download a lot more mods on Nexus to get it to look a jaw-droppingly beautiful as some screenshots I've seen here on GAF, but I'm more than happy with what I have for the time being. I'm just glad that the ENB part is done; that was a big hassle.

Currently iam using the following mods:

Random Alternate Start

Spend Dragon Souls For Perks

Lanterns of Skyrim - All In One

Shadow Striping Fix (Indoor/Outdoor)

Lanterns Of Skyrim - Villages

Unread Books Glow

No Killmoves, No Killcams, No Killbites

Dwemertech - Magic of the Dwarves

Lightweight Potions and Poisons

Faster Vanilla Horses

Run For Your Lives

More Dragon Loot

Immersive Patrols

Better Hunting and Prices (Updated 18 July 2014)

Any sugestions what i should also try?

And is there a mod that removes the compas and modifies the Quest objectives so that you can find the stuff without it?

This is my load order list, btw. I removed IC.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it? I really want to resolve the texture issue, primarily.

This definitely isn't an absolute, it's something that I need to test on my machine as well because I get these problems every few hours, but it might have something to do with Immersive Armors. I was going to try reinstalling it last night but had to get the newer version (7.1) but most of my missing texture (big purple blob) issues seem to center around that for some reason, but I'm not sure why considering it's installed correctly.

In your case, be sure to run loot and wyre bash after reading through them and give that a shot. I'm fairly sure your Skyrim Flora Overhaul is both out of place, and needs a few assistant patches for the DLC.

You probably want something like this. I'd suggest not getting rid of your compass as the exploration of the game hinges on it, but if you wish, this is where you should go.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33482/?

I'd also suggest Ultimate Dragons and OBIS.

Hey guys, I'm getting a bug where everytime I use Bound Sword spell, my game crashes to desktop. It's weird because it worked fine before yet now it doesn't want to work.

I think it's a mod issue but i never downloaded a mod that would impact Bound weapons or any weapons really. Any ideas?

Damn, the hearthfire houses aren't appearing to me at all. Tried disabling all the mods known to conflict as well. One of the main things I wanted to do on my PC playthrough as well. :(

Probably a texture issue.

...I mean, you have to build them. Did you get the land from the respective Jarls?

Probably a texture issue.

Nah I just figured it out. Apparently some mods may leave invisible items in the inventory and that does something with that spell ID or something idk.

I fixed it by getting myself imprisoned and then opening up the console and typing "player.resetinventory"

Casted it and it worked.

Right on. I got IC to work now without any problems. Now the texture overhaul is just giving me issues.

This is what the grass looks like now. >_<

Replaying Skyrim on my laptop now and I decided to use only unarmed mods and unarmored, since it is missing from this game unlike the other TES games. Anyone else use the arcane fist mod before? The video on the nexus page shows them punching normally with effects, but when I use it, my character is literally punching like 5 a second. I also have grandmaster mod and unhindered, but the posts on the forum make it sound that the creator said grandmaster mod goes fine with it, so it might be unhindered, which is suppose to be an unarmored skill tree. The thing is my normal punches are normal with slight boosts in speed via perks, but it gets DBZ levels of crazy only when I buff my fists (even though I should be punching normal speed). It's pretty cool that I'm punching so fast, but it is really making things trivial, even though the mod is already pretty strong without going all Fist of the North Star on people.

First post in here, basically I just started playing Skyrim, added some mods etc etc just booted it up got past the opening chapter, encountered one massive problem though.

Whenever some fire is in my FOV (from torches mounted on walls, bonfires etc) the screen flashes greeny/yellow, making it nearly unplayable. I can only imagine it is because of a mod conflict or something, not sure if anybodies had this problem before.

See image below for load order/mods I'm using, any help much appreciated you wonderful people!
