So how much memory do you really need for hi-res textures? I've got 700mb or so and my game beings to chug after only 20-30 minutes if I have the HD packs on.
It's certainly not impossible, depending on your rig. Just adding a couple of ENB effects can easily halve your framerate.
Why does everyone suggest to turn in-game AA off when using an ENB? Without it, I think the ENB does a poor job with AA. I'm using Matso ENB by the way.
Post version 119 ENB uses a deferred renderer. Activating MSAA disables SSAO and a bunch of other effects. So for the best visual results you're better off downsampling and using SMAA or ENB's edge-AA.
Than downsampling? Depends what levels of MSAA (incidentally forced AA from your GPU control panel is probably better than the ingame option, same with AF) you're comparing and what resolution you're downsampling from. Personally, if I had to choose between a little extra aliasing (say downsampling from 2240 to 1920 instead of 2560) but keeping ambient occlusion, indirect lighting and reflections or keeping MSAA but going without I'd choose the former. If you're deadset on staying near 60fps though it might be a different story. But in game AA is better performance wise correct?
:OI think I got all the mods I need for Skyrim now.
About 340 mods!
The list in NMM is huge

Okay,
First time skyrim player here and currently about 5 hours in, killed the first dragon. The modding has taken more time than actually playing lol. Nevertheless, i have found the ultimate skyrim mods and ENB, imo of course.
The problem with all other ENBS i have tried was that the DOF was often wonky at best and nighttime was far far too dark for my liking, even with two lantern mods trying to mitigate it. This is where project ENB comes in. In terms of color reproduction and nigttime lighting, this mod is without a doubt, the best. The DOF implementation used in the mod also works very well, the best out of all other ENB's i tried.

Really recommend people try this ENB out in conjunction with "Climates of Tamriel". Performance is great on my setup too.
Decided to ditch DualSheaths redux and its related mods, since I found the results less than satisfactory. Got the game running pretty well with the rest of my mods installed, but things went to hell when I tried installing a new ENB. The game first refused to launch with the D3D9.dll file, and later refused to launch with the ENB presets from Project ENB. Ultimately I just threw the ENB stuff out of the window, but now the game just shuts down every time it's loading a savegame. Very weird. And annoying.
Think that tomorrow, I'm just gonna delete the whole thing and start over, only installing a few mods. No more messing with the graphics of this game.
Sometimes when Im playing I get these weird flashes of lights and colour.
Would anyone agree that its because I have way too many high res texture mods and my VRAM (1.5gb) is completely maxed out?

If I were to turn around really quickly that might happen but if i were to turn slowly it wouldnt.
It's a good idea to delete renderinfo and backup/refresh the inis when changing ENBs. The saves themselves can't be corrupted by it but they can sometimes refuse to load. I've found that if you start a new game and then load the save that can solve the problem too.
Quick question about the weapon mods;
Are these weapons only available for you through blacksmithing? I'd really like it if these weapons are out in the wild, so to speak. Specifically, I'd like it if the enemies used the modded weapons and dungeon chests contained them.
Do these mods offer that?

Welp, I've got an excuse to go back to Skyrim. Are any of the DLCs required for these? I'm running Vanilla. Dragonborn was just about the only thing I cared about for the Steam sale, and I completely forgot about it!Sure. For that particular screenshot:
Coverwomen
Mature skin texture and body for UNP CBBE ADEC (mod page has nsfw examples, be warned)
BLEAK ENB - UNBLEAK ENB (I no longer use this, though)
Face Light
Spectral Shades - Eyes
ApachiiSkyHair
I'm also a huge fan of RaceMenu, although it wasn't integral to my creation process outside of the warpaints.

Nope. No DLCs are required for those mods.
Guess I'm spending a night in character creation, then. I'll have to update my other mods, as it's been a while.
I imagine using showracemenu to edit my existing character would fuck shit up.
aside from this one I grabbed with Fraps said:
NMM is not an option as I manually installed everything and don't want to start all over again. Chances are slim I'd want to go back, and if I do I know what to delete/replace anyway. It depends.
Your existing character might look radically different once you install all those mods, especially if they add/change things like eyes/lips/noses/etc. Make sure you install via Nexus Mod Manager so that way if things don't look right you can easily uninstall and keep your old look.
If you grab RaceMenu be sure to also grab the fixes. Apachii is known to be pretty crash-happy without them. Also don't change your race unless you want to lose all of your skills.
EDIT: My minus image gallery includes a ton of modded Skyrim screenshots. I use Steam for the screenshots most of the time so the quality isn't the best.
Thats a really weird problem there, since most of aMidians stuff is just texture replaces with nothing to sort except his glass variation esp. Ive only had a problem with boss when using the GUI version, so I only use the cmd prompt version and use the GUI to sort my userlist. Also when using Boss close down NMM cause it won't refresh with the updated boss log. Wrye bash does though.Huh, weird. I had a few texture mods installed (amidianborn's, to be specific), and whenever I tried to update my load order through BOSS it just wouldn't do it. BOSS would run, but my load order wouldn't change.
I decided on a whim to get rid of most of them (only keeping his fantastic skins for the Ebony armor), and bam, BOSS does its work again. I think I must've hit a spot where I had too many mods installed, or something.
Downloaded all of the mods in your post and have a few questions:Awhile back I ran into some nasty hardware issues and was forced to give up the Skyrims for a little bit. It's been amazing seeing how much the mod community has put out in the several months I was on hiatus. Just bought all the DLC and I'm super excited being able to play again. THIS time I'll actually finish the MQ!~
I'm in still somewhat in the character creation process, though.
It's pretty amazing how different ENBs can drastically alter the feel and look of Skyrim. I haven't settled on one out of the three I'm very in love with.

Also just a little note don't go overboard with Texture mods because they will eventually cause you to crash. I have every 2k texture packs installed and am teetering on the edge at 3gb of ram use and crash every now and then in some areas because the game can't handle it so I am in the process of lowering some of my textures to 1k versions.
Skyrim Nexus has really gone to shit since I last used it. What happened? Has Skyrim grown in popularity?
Downloaded all of the mods in your post and have a few questions:
1. Doesn't the Mature Skin/Body mod conflict with the Coverwomen mod?
2. Are your characters' faces presets, or are those your results post-tinkering?
3. What are the respective races in each example?
4. How do your characters look in normal gameplay? The screens you've posted look like some photo-mode wizardry.
Really appreciate any help you can provide.
Hey guys I added a couple of mods to my game today and now I have that + sign in the top right corner. Anybody knows what mod does that and it means?
That's a buff timer from SkyUI. You can turn it off in the mod manager (the one in the Esc menu, I forget what it's called.) I believe.
I think that might be apart of frostfall maybe? They are just buffs and or debuffs.Hey guys I added a couple of mods to my game today and now I have that + sign in the top right corner. Anybody knows what mod does that and it means?
Got it! Thanks!
I don't mind a buff time but that symbol is completely abstract lol.
What can I do regarding save files? I migrated over from the PS3 version and I want to pick up roughly where I left off, which is about 50% of the main quest. Can someone who is about that far (or maybe 40%) give me theirs?

So has anyone ever found how to mod Skyrim to add martial arts combat?
I know there are limitations to what animations you can alter but I've always wondered.
Thanks for the response! I have the day off and will be using it to experiment. I suspect you're using different eyes than me since I don't have Dawnguard. As for ENB, I like the warmer look of Unbleak for now but may try Bleak sometime in the future.1. Yes, but I don't remember which files overlap between the two. It's been a long time. I do know I always installed coverwomen first and then mature skin afterwards.
2. My friends joke that I spend more time in character creation than some people do playing the whole game. That really isn't far off. I don't use presets. There're several good mods that extend the creation options via additional sliders, though this character in specific was (initially) made with the vanilla race menu.
3. Those are all the same character! Aha, just different hairstyles, brows, makeup and enbs. She's nord, though her race didn't affect much.
4. That *is* normal gameplay, just with the fov set to 30-50 and the hud turned off. A good enb config can do amazing things to the way Skyrim looks. Specifically, the bleak/unbleak enb is the one being quoted most. Ironically that's the config I moved on from the quickest as I felt it only excelled at amazing skin tones. You should definitely check it out though, Takuan! The last two screenshots are from the Goddess Enb 3.0 config.
This is what my game looks like in general.
Also, yes, Nexus is super slow these days.
