Collecting stuff in Bethesda games is at least half of the point!

Oh man, that looks just like my houses in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. I didn't trust the containers to be safe so i dumped everything on the floor, and when i walked around, i heard this ridiculously loud "CLONK, CRUNCH, THHANG" etc :D
Deal. No offense just stating that he wasn't alone.
Understood that. There is stuff i don't care at all in the series (not much though)

I've had this game pre-ordered on 360 for months now, and I have been on a blackout. How does the 360 version look?

I have a PS3 and a 360.
360 version looks fine to me, it's the only footage they've really been showing so it's hard to judge how PS3 looks. But I'd just stick with the 360 version if I were you to be safe. :p

I only play games to do real man things. Then when there's no real man things left to do I turn it off and eat the disc.
In that case there would be one manly thing left to do after that.

Hehe. I remember doing that in New Vegas. Dropped every single weapon I collected in my bedroom just to see. Never doing that again.

Same boat here 360 and PS3. Would anyone with the game on either console shed some light if there is any major differences between them, screen tearing/frame rate anything else you may have noticed?

Don't go to it of course if you don't want spoilers about the atmosphere/ Northern Lights of course... (It only shows the Northern Lights in the video though, just don't read comments of video cause I can't guarantee there aren't spoilers there)

Ah, thank you, good sir! Simply gorgeous. Talk about being hypnotized. All of the attention to fine details that we are seeing is beyond impressive. This one is going to be special indeed.

Need some help. Anyone from Finland here? I'm thinking of ordering from the Konsolinet website, but there are two different version, one standard (more expensive) and one taged as "Åland" that is cheaper. WTF is this shit? Does it mean that it is cheaper to ship the game to the Åland islands or something?!?!

Thanks!

Well i think the feature is neat but i don't see how this makes the game any better. Why not just read from your inventory. Seems like something i would get bored doing in real life like taking out the trash. All of a sudden its in a game and it's the best thing ever.

Cool news would be like being able to fly dragons or something.

If a feature is neat, than it makes the game better, full stop. If you're not interested, that's fine, but calling others lame for getting excited is weaksauce.

I'm from Finland, pre-ordered from VPD.fi from Ahvenanmaa, getting the game for 43.something€
You get it tax free if you order through Ahvenanmaa/Åland Island (or however it is written in English).

EDIT funny to see someone else awake 3AM as well :D

Anyone know when I should expect Amazon to ship my copy? I've never done release-date delivery before.
In my experience, they ship it the morning before release day, and it comes around 4-6 pm day of release.

Thank you. My UPS comes a bit earlier, so I should have it by the time I get home on Friday afternoon.

WOW, that was fast. Thanks!

I'll have to cancel my order then. Crap. They could have been a bit more specific for us non-finnish, lol.

I'll check VDP. Any chances the game will arrive in the post by friday if I do that?

Thanks!

EDIT: hum, just noticed that Ahvenanmaa is in Åland, lol. I guess I'll just cancel my order and keep the amazon order then. Anyway, thanks a lot! :)

Been having a look on the UESP wiki for Skyrim.
Looking at the perk list I am really disappointed, 90% are boring and completely uninspired.

Fallout had much more interesting perks.

Ordering to abroads from VPD is not that simple IIRC.
I've gotten their orders in time in Finland before, early even actually.
Checking VPD page quickly...

EDIT hmm, Ahvenmaa is the Finnish name for the island, and i still have no idea what it is in English. Åland Island? Åland Isles? Something like that.

EDIT VPD does ship to abroads but you need to contact them. As for ordering from Åland from abroads, i have no idea if stuff is taxless then. Frankly, i'm pretty useless in this sort of stuff. Ask me some pointless trivia and you get it, ask me something useful, i'll tell you i'll google it.

Also, off to bed now...

Maybe, but imo Fallout had a lot of perks that sounded unique and interesting, yet didn't seem worth it to actually get.

I'm obsessive compulsive about collecting shit in games like this. I once covered an entire bed with a meticulously arranged blanket of Daedra hearts in one of my houses in Morrowind.

That's because there not really "perks" like fallout, its a terrible name for them, there talent trees, like in a MMO.

Still debating about PC Vs. 360.

PC would seem like the obvious choice, but I only have a laptop to play it on.

It's very powerful, will run it at 360 or slightly higher graphical settings. But obviously a 15' screen isn't an ideal way to experience the world of Skyrim.

But on the other hand, I would have the laptop screen much closer to my face, ha. So the "effective" screen size / resolution is likely to be more or less the same...

I'm actually in Helsinki. My problem is if the game is beying shipped from Åland Island (that's the name in English, I think) then I doubt it will be on my post by Friday.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help, you've been very kind. Have a good night sleep!

I did release day delivery from Amazong. After work on Friday will be torturous if Skyrim isn't waiting by the door. I'll be looking out the front window shaking back and forth... dunno if I can handle another Dark Souls incident...

If you care about mods at all get PC, otherwise you're probably better off on your TV if you prefer

Got an HDMI cable and a wired 360 controller? You're all set then.

This alongside UPS's unwillingness to leave packages at my house led me to cancel my preorder and order it from Best Buy where I can pick it up. It's worth the extra 15 bucks it probably cost me.

23 hours in, I'm level 13 and am starting to explore more of the world now. I've only just reached another large city after Whiterun (the first city you go to), simply because there's so much damn stuff to do, and not just in terms of the abundance of quests you receive. Spent way too much time collecting ingredients, hunting animals, crafting items to make armour and weapons, cooking food, making potions, chopping wood, mining ore, etc.

Here's a bunch of random screens;

This is awesome, I love distractions like these. Thanks for the updated impressions.

Any mini-games and such? Like the cards in RDR? (I'm guessing not, but just wanted to confirm.)

So I wasn't a huge fan of Oblivion. I hated the leveling system for some reason.

However, I'm buying this simply to support people making games like this. It looks amazing, so I'm hoping I will enjoy it. :)

Well, that's probably because Oblivion's leveling system blows. So did Morrowind's for that matter, but blanket level scaling was one of the few ways to actually make it worse, and that's exactly what they went for.
