Alright guys, three things! First post in the thread, just got the game two days ago.

1. The easter eggs are fucking awesome. Found a woman named Temba Wide-Arm, which is a blatant reference to Star Trek, the episode where Picard is stranded on a planet and has to communicate with the alien species that speaks only in metaphor. "Temba! His arms wide!"

2. There's no option for me to install the game to my harddrive? I'm on 360.

3. I forgot that I made Lydia wait in a dungeon for one part, and never spoke to her again. I wondered where the fuck she went for a little bit, and then a message popped up that said "Your companion has grown tired of waiting and left." Does that mean she is gone forever? I looked in the Jarl's palace for her and didn't see her :[

I have made it that one of my missions is to take witches heads through out the land of skyrim! 15 heads and counting! would have 2 more but they were used for a quest.

Nope, never bought it. Haven't saved up enough gold yet.

Damn woman. She was holding my dragon scales and dragon bones.
I have been collecting the dragon scales since I am making dragon armor but haven't collected the bones, what is the bone for? I have assumed its for potions unless I am mistaken.

What did you guys do with Deep-in-his-cups?
I paid him 750 once already but he has returned. I've reloaded the save several times but there's no way to get rid of him without paying. Am I free to kill him or is he someone important I should let stay alive?

Man, Lydia fucks up my stealth. I did the first major Thieves Guild quest on that island and she kept aggroing mercs. Thankfully I stayed stealthy.

Then I did the next one in Solitude and she kept aggroing the guards there as well.

Bitch, your dwarf armor isn't working with my leather pads.

Oh, and 360 users in particular, any of you ever recall hearing this song in-game? I don't. :(

By the gods that is incredible. Sounds like something that should appear near the endgame for the main quest.

I think I started getting Ebony arrows a few levels back and I'm currently 32. I started getting dwarven and elven arrows in the way back in the 20s. Maybe it's attached to your archery skill rather than your base level... then again my build is primarily 1-handed and conjurer. I only use arrow in stealth so my archery is at 58 after 150 hours.

Weird, I'm at 76 archery, it's what I use 90% of the time. Maybe different stores get different quality arrows, I do most of my business with the blacksmith in Solitude, which has my primary house. I'll check around later tonight; last I looked the dude still just had steel.

I really don't like that I'm force to have people hanging around my house. I'm going to kill them all and tuck them into some corner. Lydia won't last two minutes in my house. I work alone.

I've been selling almost every piece of armour, weaponry, and Jewellery that I've acquired in this game since starting it 40 hours ago. I'm at like 60k gold lol. Not even done selling!!!

Speech at 100 ftw

Do you go to the fletcher in Solitude? His shop is right next to the blacksmith there. I don't use archery but maybe he has a larger choice of arrows.

Two questions:

Do you get the opportunity to upgrade all the shouts, or are upgrades only story-based? Kind of disappointed if they're not all upgradeable.

Where the hell do I find expert level alteration spells?

EDIT: Also a Draugh Deathlord or something dropped an Ebony Battleaxe(my preferred type of two-handed weapon!), which I enchanted with a grand soul game to do 16 points of fire damage! Come at me Draughbros.

Dan Harmon is a fan of Skyrim.

I haven't really done anything main story related except the trigger, and I have upgraded a bunch of shouts.

Expert level Alteration spells are sold by Tolfdir at the College.

They're all upgradable.

You have to get to a high enough skill level in alteration before vendors start to sell them. Tolfdir at the College of Winterhold sells alteration spells.

Don't worry. You only need like 10 bones to make the whole set and most dragons give you 3, so just kill 4 dragons and store the bones until you get the perk.
Oh good I was already planing on going dragon slaying for a couple of hours.

Yes, every shout that is not plot related has three word walls for you to find.

Once you level Alteration spells high enough, the Alteration specialist at the College of Winterhold should have some spells to sell.

You know what I want to see in Skyrim? This.

That's my bungie.net profile. From it you can see my in-game character, the armor he's currently wearing, my rank (level), commendations, etc. I was honestly a little shocked that we don't have this for Skyrim.

I want to have the equivalent of that profile for Skyrim (and all Bethesda games). My level, perk tree selections, skill progress, and the stats pages from the start menu should all be housed there, pulled from my last game save.

I think it's natural to show off your character, and I'm aghast that I have to take off-screen pictures from sub-optimal angles to show people what I look like. I love that Bethesda focuses on making enormous single-player games, but that doesn't mean they should eschew any semblance of social and community tools so share our character and adventures.

I got one of those from a normal dragon, I enchanted with a grand gem soul with a 30 damage in fire. just to sell it for 2k! Hahaha

Gen X

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
Archery is just stupid overpowered. I was just ambushed by 2 dragons (frost and blood) out in the open. I didn't even have to drink a potion.

I'm not even abusing the enchant -> alchemy -> enchant mechanics. Just a smithed bow with some +bow enchant.

WHat difficulty are you playing on? I'm level 28, archery level 81. Using an Elven Bow with fire damage and arrows of 16 (Elven arrows?) and I am getting owned by dragons (should I be using the shouts?). The difficulty I am on is Expert (Goes Apprentice > Novice > Adept > Expert > Master for those that haven't even looked at the difficulty settings).

I just started that Guild too, doing somethin in an estate with bee hives. I just let Lydia follow me into the first room, told her to wait and then shut her in there while I sneaked around. Been doing that a bit lately because like you say, she screws up the stealth with her barbarian antics.

totally agree! but i think a problem arises from the fact that in Halo you only have the one single profile with the single character, but in Skyrim you can pretty much make as many characters as you like.

Thank you all for your prior help. I have a few questions and would again appreciate any help:

1. If I tell Lydia to wait and post-battle I am unable to recall her location is there a way to locate her?

2. If she dies in a battle and I am unable to actively see her location at the time of death, would there be a way to locate her body?

3. If Lydia is let go from the service where would find her again (she says that she's going home)?

4. Prior to purchasing a house, is there any place where one can store his/her items? I am a member of Companion now and there is a common room. However, I am unsure as to whether or not I should use the drawer/dresser etc in it.

HELP!!!

Arrows are permanently stuck to me? I have one in my head and in my back that won't disappear. (PS3, so no console commands)

Agree, there would have to be some sort of system to resolve that issue.

I keep thinking about my character and wanting to hop on and review my stats/perk trees, but have to fire up the game to do it. And on four or five occasions I've tried to take pics of a cool armor combination, but couldn't get a good angle or off screen pic. It's 2011, we shouldn't be taking off-screen pics to share what our custom characters look like. (On consoles, of course. PC master race and all.)

Beautiful picture. Is that a mod?

This is my dude now. Otar's mask works well with glass armor IMO:

How do you get pics that far away from your character in 3rd person?

Awesome combo, BTW.

1. She'll get tired of waiting and "return home"
2. Not unless you use the console.
3. If you own the house in Whiterun, she'll go there otherwise she'll go to Dragonsreach.
4. No place that is safe. You can cheese companion carry weight by putting stuff into a chest and directing the companion to take everything from the chest. This will bypass encumbrance.

I don't know how it's done on PC, however, on consoles, it's pressing and holding R3 while in third person view and moving the Left Analog stick back or forth depending upon what distance you want the camera to be from your character.

Thanks. With regards to number 4, I am not sure how I go about achieving it exactly (I guess I need to talk to companions more). Remember that I just became a full member after the mission to get the fragment where we face off against Silverbloods.

While targeting your companion, hold down the action button and you'll get a context-specific crosshair. You can have them move to a position and wait, attack something, pick a lock, empty a chest, etc. depending on what you're pointing at.

I was running through a couple of dungeons and Lydia died at some point, I can't remember which ones though. There was a ton of mages in one, I suspect then.

Wife and sidekick for 70+ hours, and I did not even bother looking for her to get my stuff back. :p

the one thing this game feels like it's missing is massive battles.

I'd love to see like 100 guards fighting a dragon get mowed down in front of you as you walk up to stab him in the face.

I'm at level 25, Smithing 83 and I can't find Ebony Ingots anywhere :(

thats because shop keepers will never sell more than 2 ebony ingots at once and rarely have any in stock...My suggestion is to go to the gloombound mine east of windhelm as there is a shit ton of ebony ore there with a forge, smelter, workbench and grindstone right outside of it I made full epic Ebony armor with a few weapons there in like 20 minutes

also fyi you will have to do a miscellaneous quest to get in
