I dont really get the level cap thing. I'm 32 now, does that mean I only have potentially 17 more perks to place? I thought I remembered saying the hard cap was 50 but the soft cap is 80, does that then mean that I'll have 47 perks available to me end-game?

Welp, had to kill Marcurio, I was trespassing in a dwemer museum and Bethesda thought it would be smart to make it so you can't talk to companions while you in a place you're not supposed to be. Anytime I tried to talk to him he just told me "You're not supposed to be here".

Couldn't get him to follow me out, couldn't get him to trade with me so I could take my most important things and go, so I had to fry him. Now I need another companion who can snipe as well as he did :(.

My GF married Cosnach from Markarth and he greets her with unique married dialogue every time she enter the house. "I love you, dear", "I swear i haven't been drinking much, dear", it's pretty funny. It must just be an issue with certain spouses, or perhaps cosnach is the exception to the rule.

Yeah my wifey calls me love and such when I actually talk to her, but the first thing she always says refers to a quest I did for her way back when. That was what I was referring to. Not a big deal but just a bit silly.

Imaging a married couple having their marriage on the verge of breaking down because of that claw makes me laugh.

Is there any reason not to sell all the food I find? I've been hoarding it in case it came in handy for cooking with later on, but I've just learned that there are no better recipes later on; it's just the ones you start with. Which are useless, as potions are infinitely better.

Should I just sell all my food?

Huh, did they tweak those resistances back in already or something? I just destroyed a couple of Frostbite Spiders with my Flame spell, whereas it would barely hurt them yesterday.

60 hours in, and I have not found any use for food, besides the meaningless cooking.

Unfortunately not, just tried Flames on a Flame Atronach, no resist.

Well that's all the skyrim I'm gonna play. I can no longer load any of my saves as the game states that the saves have been made in a later version of the game (they have not). And I won't update as it fucks resistances up. GG Bethesda, this is the last damn game I buy from you.

It's not really worth it. Small bumps in HP that are virtually negated by the time you invest any levels in health. Potions are far more a bang for your buck. They really didn't put much thought into cooking, I think.

And what the fuck. Every time I fire an arrow, it just flops from my bow and falls to the ground, even if I pull the trigger down for a while. Bullshit.

So here's my funny Skyrim story of the day.

I was stalking somebody for a Dark Brotherhood assassination. My target was hanging around in the middle of town, lots of witnesses. So I killed some time, visited some shops, talked to some people. Finally night began to fall, and she starting moseying off towards her house. I followed her (not creepy at all), ready to take her out in the confines of her own home. She's literally ten steps from her door when behind me I hear three dreaded words from another NPC: "Everyone get inside!" And then I hear a dragon roar.

I literally shout "NOOOOOO!!!" at my TV screen as the dragon flies overhead, prompting my target to start running around town like a scared nincompoop along with all the other villagers. The dragon, unfortunately, starts terrorizing the opposite end of the town, so I have to go over and kill it, not able to let the dragon assassinate my target for me. After the dragon dies, literally everybody in the town (including my target) comes over and stands in a large group to gaze at the dragon corpse.

I facepalm.

After waiting several (game) hours, the crowd finally disperses. It looks like my target is finally going to head back to her hou- wait that's not the direction of her house. What are you doing. WHAT ARE YOU DOING! My target, at 2 in the morning, decides it's a prime time to chop some wood. Right next to a guard. Goddammit. Eventually I get tired of waiting, stab the woman in the face right in front of the guard, and get carted off to jail, where I proceed to escape and slaughter every guard in the village. I now have a huge bounty on my head if I ever return to that area of the world.

Moral of the story: Fuck dragons.

Lol, awesome. Wonder if hitting her with an "accidental" arrow while everyone was going crazy would have alerted the guards..

Someone else ran into this bug last week in the thread. I can't remember the solution, though. I think it was Mike Works that had the problem. I think he just fired an arrow by pulling the trigger halfway, letting it thump, then firing another by holding all the way down.

Last night, while riding to a city along a southern mountain side, I got a pack of wolves on my tail. I did what I usually do and gallup on ahead, knowing they'd give up eventually. Right around the bend is another wolf pack. I keep galluping.

Around another bend, and I run into a pack of three Imperials escorting a Stormcloak and whomping on a cave bear (actually, getting whomped on, they're Imperials after all). So now I have five wolves, a cave bear and four other guys all fighting each other. I dismount and try to save the shackled Stormcloak, to no avail. But I get a kick out of seeing all the fighting that can break out on the road. Only thing that would have been better would be if a dragon swooped in.

This latest patch sounds awful. Regrattably, I play on PS3 - I sort of have to download it to make the game playable at all. Sounds like the current patch just makes the game unplayable if you depend a lot on archery or elemental resistance...

BAAAAHHHHH

I finished the quest "The Only Cure" but didn't get the reward for it!
Stupid Daedric Artifact quests.

Good thing I've got a bunch of saves before it.

My bow/arrow have been fine, post-patch.

It seemed to occur every time I reloaded a save. The second arrow I fired off went straight, or well, as straight as arrows can go in this game.

I once lured an Elder Dragon that was kicking my ass into a fort filled with Stormcloak Soldiers. It was amazing.

I had that bow issue before the patch. I thought I was cursed or something. After a few tries I started shooting normally again.

Ah, good to know, I guess. Has anyone ever encountered a glitch while using one-handed weapons where your character model will freeze in place, unable to move, when you're about to strike? You can only rotate your character model and wait for death.

Had this happen to me last week.. It was pretty funny, actually. To me at least.
I spammed the hell out of the triggers (I was dual wielding) but nothing happened.
Pressed left to change to my bow and it paused for a quick second, then it equipped and I was fine.

I got marrried to Camilla and I have not seen her since she walked out of the church at the wedding. It like she disappeared from game after that. She is not at any of my homes, she is not at the Riverwood Trader, she is gone. Was it that bad, lol.

Do hirelings/mercenaries abandon you during a tough fight?

I paid this dude in markarth to accompany me so I can sacrifice him to Boethiah and on the way of course great timing two dragons want to just mess up my day on top of that a group of forsworn just happen to be nearby. Dude just disappears I figure a mage might of used fear on him but he has not comeback and I did not find a body.

I'm playing as a combat mage and have not patched to 1.2. Every now and then, my magic in the left hand won't fire unless I change to a new spell and change back. Sucks getting into the face of a dragon priest and fumbling with your offensive spells not working. Happened last night.

Dear Bethesda,

Please do not place quest items on a table in front of an inaccessible portion of the map where said item may happen to fall and become irretrievable if you happen to use Unrelenting Force on the undead overlord that's protecting it.

Yours truly,
Pissed off player who spent two hours on a quest only to find out near the end that I have to restart it because my quest item is irretrievable.

P.S. I'm only bitter because I care.

I think I may be boned in one regard. Post-College of Magic Questline Spoilers

So I'm pretty sure I stored the Staff of Magus in a barrel in the first dorm room you get (at the College). However, now that barrel is just filled with carrots. It's been awhile, but still, shouldn't the stuff in that room count as mine? Anyway, if I can't find the Staff in another stash somewhere, and it did indeed disappear, then I'm fucked for doing the Aftershock quest. Which, after I looked it up, just to make sure, is just kind of optional fluff, even though it's listed as a main quest, though 1000g per completion is a nice source of income.

Ugh, gonna check to make sure it's not in my primary chest in Breezehome, but it's kind of lame that stuff like this can happen.

I'm 60ish hours in and I finished the College of Magic questline probably 20-30 hours ago, so it's not like I can just revert to a previous save on this one.

And...Greybeard Leader (Main Story!) Spoilers

That was fuckawesome. Was not expecting a dragon to be the leader (though it may have been predictable, it caught me by surprise as I've just been letting the main story take me on a ride right now, rather than analyzing it).

This is super confusing to me. People keep talking about that scene, but in the course of the main quest I never saw any
negotiating table
.

I didn't either. I wonder if it changes after you've committed to one side to the civil war. Because by that time I was a full blown Stormcloak.

Level up your alchemy by value!

Invisibility, Damage Magicka Regen, Fortify Carry Weight, Fortify 2H are pretty good value. Make those. Restore HP/MP/ST potions aren't bad but behind these at least, but I imagine you got a good amount of ingredients for those anyway.

WTF??!! I just got the Gauldur Amulet, but after picking it up, it's not added in my inventory :/

I ran into a lot more bugs than I'd like...

Edite: NVM, it's listed as THE Gauldur Amulet... :/

If you captured Whiterun, the Jarl will just agree to let you use Dragonreach, if not, you have to go through negociating

Great, a Mages College quest has glitched out, it seems. It's the quest where I have to place the warped soul gem in two dwarven convectors and heat it up. The first time I did it it worked fine, but the journal won't register the second attempt, so I'm stuck in my tracks. :(

Any way to fix this shit? It's turning me off big time.

It's listed as "The Gaulder Amulet" and is under "T"s in your inventory. Check there to make sure
that you're not being silly

What exactly is the problem? It's not clear what you mean. Also, did you exit the area at any time during the process? I know I had put it in, then went to explore and went outside. The thing couldn't be moved at all when I came back, so I had to reload and it worked fine after that.

Heh, been using the Clear Skies shout in Whiterun and a guard came up to me and told me that maybe I should stop shouting as it's making people nervous.

So I was just walking along on my way to Rorikstead when I come across some Thalmor escorting a prisoner. I end up killing them and freeing the prisoner. Anyway, I wanted Elven armor but was waiting until I found some so I wouldn't spend gold on it. I completely strip on of the guards and move on.

A little up the road I see a farmer walking with a cow. He says he is taking it to the giants camp as a tribute so that the giants won't kill his livestock. I decide to follow him to see if there is any unique dialog when he arrives.

Along the road the farmer passes the bodies of the Thalmor I killed and makes a comment about it. His cow then proceeds to walk to the naked body of one of them and lick his balls.

The problem is, you have to heat up the gem twice in two different containers. The first time, the journal updates when you put it in*, then it updates again after you torch it up for a few seconds. The second time I place the warped gem in another container (as per the journal instructions), the journal doesn't update and no progress can be made. And I didn't leave the area during the process, no, though I did leave when I went to find the second Convector.

Sul the Dark Elf has had a strange day. Minor Thieves Guild spoilers ahead:

First, he was sent to Honeybrew Meadery in Riften, where he
poisoned the mead supply
. When that was done, he switched back into his Thieves Guild attire and travelled back to Riften. There, he was tasked to travel to Solitude and
confront an Argonian who had been doing some business on the side
. That individual, however, told him to find a
a crate of wine
before any business could be discussed, because Sul's speechcraft skill, sadly, isn't high enough.

So, off to the Blue Palace Sul went. He snuck inside as an audience was already happening in the main chamber, no doubt with our good friend Wulf there to hear it. But Sul had more nefarious deeds in mind. Paying no heed to the presence of all these high-born individuals, he snuck into a corridor
and stole the crate of wine the servants had stored there
. Loot in hand, he returned to his contact.
The lizard wasn't really honest, though, so Sul stalked him through the city, through a cave, and ultimately to a spot where he was meeting some bandits.
Sul decided to take 'em out, but for some reason, the arrows he fired were all... 'floppy'. They fell to the ground after only travelling a short distance, puzzling the Dark Elf and the bandits he was facing alike.

The puzzlement, however, did not last long, as the next volley of arrows quickly perforated the bandits' feeble hide cuirasses, giving them an extra hole to breathe through. Or bleed through, in their case. He confronted his target, who quickly divulged the information he still needed. Knowledge in hand, he set off back to Riften.

Back in the hideout, Guildmaster Mercer Frey didn't like that information one bit. He ordered Sul to travel to a cave far to the north, where he'd wait for him.
Sul left, as ordered... But made a stop in Windhelm first. Someone had asked him to rob
Ulfric's steward Jorleif, and Sul was happy to oblige. For the second time today, Sul robbed a Jarl's palace in broad daylight while the fools were too busy discussing petty tactics.

But Sul was angry. When he entered Windhelm, he had been greated by Rolff, a Nord who didn't like his kind one bit. Sul had murder on his mind. He stalked Rolff into the streets at night, as the latter was making his routine "let's shout at the Dunmer"-tour through the Grey Quarter. Two daggers in hand, he approached his target, planted the knives in his back...

But it turns out Rolff is an essential NPC. Crap. Reload.

Disappointed, Sul left Windhelm to travel further North. On the way, he came across scores of bandits who fell quickly enough to his bow and daggers, but a few Ice Wraiths made him burn through his Health potions far too quickly. Eventually, though, Sul's growing mastery in the skill of Destruction burned the icy serpents to cinders.

That's when the Sabertooth attacked.

It took some luck and some fancy moves, but eventually Sul overpowered the Sabertooth and planted a dagger in its face. Then, he pushed the lifeless corpse aside. Triumphantly, the turned around...

And was killed by another Sabertooth.
