The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim |OT2| Team Edward's Revenge

Deleted my old character. She'd gotten to level 50 anyways, it was starting to get boring.
New character is also a female Breton, but with auburn hair as opposed to the old jet black.
Name: Corinne de la Fleur ( I always try to make my character names accurate to the race)

I'm making her an Archer for all situations, with the twist that when there's too many enemies, or the space is too cramped, she has a high Conjuration to either raise the arrow riddled corpses she's created or just summon a nice Frost Atronach (when she gets that spell).
Also keeping a dagger for backstabs, dat 15x Assassins Blade multiplier.

Skyrim had me download a 25MB update tonight, which was odd. Nothing changed except for the occasional tutorial prompt that pops up (like when you talk to a shop keeper for the first time).

Not sure what to make of it.

I'm going to try and have Luna be the first character to hit level 50, then retire her for a new one when Dragonborn hits. She's 41 now, going on 42. Lots of crafting, some pickpocketing and a whole lotta pounding on paralyzed dudes with daggers will do it.

Hopefully that patch has every bug fix/patch combined in one download. I prefer to be able to permanently store the patches when possible. Someone can try to delete the cache and play with only that download to see if that's the case.

You could try checking your HDD? I think a 25 MB update is too big to get stored in the cache, anyway. Maybe they made the switch to those kinds of updates.

http://myxboxlive.com/gaming/bethesda-sneaks-skyrim-vampire-patch/

Are there any Vampires out there with a stutter? Well there were a few hiding in Skyrims DLC, Dawnguard, according the Bethesdas recently released patch which fixed that issue. We have been told that in fact, it was a rare bug, that rare that I wasn’t even aware it was a problem!

The sneaky patch that have had released onto our consoles also fixed a couple of other small issues. You can see the list below. The patch itself is only 25MB so shouldn’t take too long at all to get downloading.
Full List of fixes:

General memory and stability improvements
Fixed rare crash when using vampiric grip
Fixed issue where Arnleif and Sons Trading Company could become permanently locked
Fixed issue related to duplicate NPCs
Fixed rare issue where exterior door would not open properly

Thanks, glad it wasn't just me. :lol

Is this the end of Louis Letrush?

I fear this may be so. But I'll never forget the Letrushmoot I helped gather.

If only, from now on he'll be the one and only.

Remember.

Also: remember.

So, I'm knocking off some of the Achievements I never got around to on other characters. One of them was getting a bounty of 1,000 gold in every hold. I decided that, if I was going to get socked with 9,000 in fines, I wanted something in return.

So I gathered up one of every guard's shield from each hold. They're all unique. I wish I could hang them on the walls, but they make a nice display anyways, lining the entry way to my newly completed house.

I was doing the Laid to Rest quest in Morthal with my VL when I got jumped by some hired thugs. Now I hadn't done any thieving with this character so I was caught by surprise. Anyway, I killed them and read the contract. Apparently some NPC named Garmr hired the thugs to teach me a lesson. I was scratching my head a bit since I really couldn't recall who the hell Garmr is. Turns out it's one of the death hounds in Castle Volkihar. :lol

Last five characters I've done, I get attacked by thugs just outside Whiterun sometime around level 10. Take the contract, read it, and find out they were sent by a Hagraven named Moira in the Reach.

Honestly, I couldn't figure out why. The only thing that comes to mind is that I took a potion of blood off one of the tables in the castle, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't tagged as "steal" when I did it. In any case, I went back to the castle to turn in a quest and got Garmr to follow me when I left. I took him with me to Riften and after taking care of some business in the Ragged Flagon I spawned 5 sabre cats. That took out both Dirge and the hound plus it provided a bit of fun and mayhem with the thieves guild hangers-on crowd.

I think at this point it's been established that if you kill Anise (witch that lives in a cabin near Riverwood) you'll get thugs sent after you by Moira. Whether it's because they're sisters or just that Anise and her belongings are associated with the hagraven faction isn't certain. If you haven't met or interacted with Anise then it's just one of those weird Beth bugs.

Yeah, I always kill her. Interesting.

The worst thing by far about Dawnguard is the fucking random vampire attacks. I just went into Jorrvaskr to get a minor Companions quest, come out and walk down to the gate of Whiterun and find out that Adrianne Avenicci and her husband both got killed in a random vampire attack. There was nothing I could do, and both of the blacksmiths in Whiterun, the only sources of munitions and smithing ingredients were dead.

I reverted to a previous save, and they were STILL dead. I reverted to the one before that, and I lost FOUR HOURS of progress, including the first three missions of the Civil War and the beginning of the Dark Brotherhood questline. One of the very few times I've ever ragequit Skyrim.

Been having so much fun with Skyrim lately. Got both Dawnguard and Hearthfire when they were on sale for xbl a couple weeks ago, really like my house but haven't started anything for Dawnguard yet. <3 this game.

The dude who does videos on mods (Gopher) did a recap video of all his features for the 1-year anniversary. I'm only halfway through part 3/3 and have picked up 15-20 new mods.

OOOH almost time for OT3?? unbelievable that first OT was done like 2 days after the game came out...(not sure about exactly when as im too lazy to look, but it was quick)

EDIT: ok not so lazy, six days!

This can be a major pain if you're playing on a console. For PC users there are some workarounds and at least one mod to help keep NPCs alive. The simplest fix would be to set any NPC you want to keep alive as essential. Another option is to spawn ~4 Imp/Stormcloak mages - choice depends on a towns CW alignment - at the entrance or gate. They usually overwhelm invading Vamps relatively quickly and help keep the locals alive. Also, if you fast track the Dawnguard MQ to completion, the attacks tend to drop off to a more manageable level or stop altogether.

Got a link for that? I've not really been keeping up on mods other than the odd browse through the steam workshop.

Hey all, couple questions. I finished the main story when Skyrim first came out, but never did that many side quests even though I loved the game. Got sidetracked with other games.

I just patched everything through Steam, so I should have the latest vanilla version of the game. No mods except the official High-Rez Texture Pack.

1.) Did they never fix the mouse feel? I remember it felt very floaty and laggy... I would have thought they patched that by now, but it feels the same. I remember doing some INI changes where the mouse felt alright in gameplay, but still lagged in menus.

2.) Does everyone just get mods through Steam Workshop now? Or is it recommended to still use third-party websites?

Xbox 360. Love my Box, but you're right, a PC would be so much nicer here.

skyrim^^^ I really need to build a godly gaming PC

Crosspost from Halo OT. Jesus Christ, I'm drooling on my desk at that. That literally looks like real life. Wonder if next-gen consoles will come anywhere close to that?

Gorgeous shots. Consoles won't get close next gen unless they're up around a grand minimum, I would think. I paid $650 for my (decidedly pedestrian) PC's parts and it would melt instantly trying to render that.

My PC is from 2009 and in no way could handle those... I'll probably build a new once once the PS4/NeXbox out for a bit.

Yeah. I really hope next gen consoles look something like this, a few years into the generation. And one thing with the timing of Skyrim's release is, hopefully Bethesda's next game (which I assume is Fallout 4) won't land until a couple years into it and they've had plenty of time with the hardware.

I can't understand why you can't just fucking buy a computer if you want graphics like that

Not interested in either spending the money or gaming on PC. My home computer four years old with integrated graphics and could barely run Skyrim on low settings. I'm content to buy a console and use it for the duration of the console generation (in this case, eight years). I can't understand why some people don't understand that not everyone is interested in PC gaming. :p

I can't understand why you can't just fucking buy a computer if you want graphics like that

Here's why:
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The computer I'm on right now is the most advanced in my family, better by a significant margin than the one my dad uses for his work. It cost me $900, including warranty. That was all the money I'd earned from my summer job before I started college and then some. It's going to have to last me well into grad school. It's all purpose, the fact that it can play some advanced video games is a bonus.

The vast majority of people in this world can't blow $1200+ dollars on a gaming computer.

You won't be able to get those graphics, but you can get a computer from scratch (or less if you swap out parts you already are using right now) for $500-650 that will look better than your Wii U or PS4

Needing to spend $1000+ to get a "decent" computer is something that stopped being true before Pentium 4s came out. If you're paying more than $1000, you're getting gyped by buying pre-built computers or you're buying Alienware or something like a non-smart shopper.

Also building computers is about as easy as this:

I've been running around doing the DB quests with my Vamp Lord Assassin and it's been lots of fun. There is a unique RP aspect to it that I don't find in any other game. I usually get close to the target, find an unobserved area to make my VL transformation and then swoop in to commit murder. Flying around town, terrorizing the locals as I make my escape is some damn fine gaming. I can't help but giggle whenever some town guard tells me "These vampires are a real menace".

Here's some pics of my VL.

A good assassin uses a disguise to mask his identity.

Here's the contract that Garmr (death hound) took out on me.

I built the Lakeview Manor and installed Lydia as my Steward just to have a nice quiet retreat. It's a cool place with a great view of the lake from my back porch. Unfortunately, it got off to a rough start when I found my cellar infested by skeevers the first time I went down there to furnish it. Then I had to go kill a necromancer that had set up shop down the hill from my back door. The next time I visited I got attacked by a bandit gang and a dragon landed right on top of me in front of the house. That was some crazy shit with Lydia holding off the bandits while I fought the dragon. Luckily we prevailed and things seem to have settled down, but I'm seriously considering moving back to town for a little peace and quiet. :/

Have never played an Elder Scrolls game before but my gf's parents bought me Skyrim last Christmas and I've finally cleared my backlog and I'm ready to jump in

Any good starting tips (a'la Dark Souls don't fight the skeletons)? Also, what's a good starting class for beginners and what skills should I be concentrating on upgrading at first? Thanks in advance!

My Skyrim PS3 disc is dying :( After about 200 hours of playtime, there was a small crack on the inner ring which has slowly been getting bigger and now it's getting to the point where I get massive load times, and sometimes the game doesn't boot :(

It's served me well, but I fear the end is near. My housemate has a copy of it for the 360, which would make more sense to play(with the DLC and all), but I hold out hope Dawnguard WILL come to the PS3 (someday :p ).

Well, you don't really pick a class.
You pick a race, and every race has his own benefits, some have a bigger mana pool from the start, some have frost resistance, some have fire resistance etc.
Every character can wield any weapon or spell, so you specialise during the game automaticly. However, if you're already sure how excatly you want to play, some races are preferred to start with.
For example, thiefs/ sneak based can start with Khajiit because the can see in the dark.
If you read the descriptions it should be pretty obvious, but there's no real overpowered class. Personally i like Dark elf or Nord for their fire/frost resistance. Comes in real handy when fighting dragons.
Again, personal preference, but i would suggest pumping some points in Archery first, having some decent skills with the bows makes fighting Dragons a lot easier.
Destruction magic is also ranged, but al lot weaker at the start then bows.
At the start there isn't really a point you should avoid like Dark Souls, the game will sort of push you to the first important dungeon and town, but i will say don't go into the dwemer ruins when you're low level, you will get fucked up, and there's no real reward for doing so.
Enjoy!

While I agree that Dwarven ruins are pretty hard at low level, they're a great source of Soul Gems, and if you have Dawnguard, then crossbow bolts as well.

As for general tips, I'd say either buy Breezehome in Whiterun or gain entry to the Winterhold dormitory early on so you have a place to store excess gear.

Dwarven ruins are amazing for leveling up smithing. Just grab all the struts/dwemer metals and make dwarven bows. Not as fast as pre-patch making daggers but it's still pretty good.

Good for leveling up sneak as well. It's a good idea to bring some cure poison pots for any extended trips into falmer territory though. Also, a dwarven bow is a good choice for followers since they seem to stick with it and rarely switch back to the crappy default bow.
