The Final Bosman Show

Nope on both counts. Konami's eggs aren't even in the videogame industry at all, while Capcom's still making a number of games, they're just getting help from Sony and Microsoft to take some of the risk.
Konami has MGS and PES, what else? Castlevania isn't doing very well afaik. They're certainly not doing everything in their power to create something extraordinary there nowadays. Without MGS they wouldn't be the same company at all. Capcom has Street Fighter, and what else? :/ There's nothing else of that AAA level at least. They haven't needed financial help like this before as far as we know. Nobody is talking doomsday talk about Ubisoft from an IP and economics perspective, while we've had threads about that with both Konami and Capcom to my knowledge, at the very least there's a concern on gaf about Capcom. Ubisoft is pushing out titles of quality at a much faster rate than the other two combined and is running no risk of going bankrupt any time soon to the best of our knowledge. Ubisoft still has Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, Just Dance regularly doing more than just fine together with their more obscure stuff and rabbids. Where do you mean that Konami has its eggs then? Pachinko or something? I'm genuinely curious. Like I said, I think Ubisoft's major problem is simply PR related and releasing glitchy games for some strange reason. There's nothing majorly wrong with their business elsewhere afaik.

Did you read my post? Like I said, Konami's eggs aren't even in the videogame industry at all anymore. Their Health and Fitness division is what brings in most of their money, videogames are just a thing they do on the side.

Of all the Capcom franchises you bring up as their "one basket," you bring up Street Fighter? Monster Hunter and Resident Evil aren't AAA? lol. Street Fighter is nowhere near as important to the company as those two franchises. And while Capcom aren't in a great place, there's no reason to believe they're really in trouble. I think their management have just become incredibly risk adverse after all the high profile bombs last gen, so they're getting Sony and Microsoft to take a lot of the risk off their shoulders. It's not like they've closed down large parts of the company or are the new THQ though.

Just because we've had threads about something, doesn't mean it's going to happen. The very idea that Konami's in trouble is laughable.

Ubisoft are a shitty company, making shitty games and shitty decisions. That doesn't change just because they're making money and that's why they're gutter tier. The fact that Kyle mentioned EA and Activision as former gutter tier publishers should've told you that.

Also, please, paragraphs.

In 2014's financial statement, Konami did say they were budgeting for 7 major console releases and expected the same number of games to show up by Q3 2015. That would include Japan only games, so PES, Baseball, MGSV and Silent Hills (which may have only been targeted for Q3 2015 internally in May, so I wouldn't expect it). Will be interesting ot see if we do hear of any output from that come E3.

Guarantee Watch_Dogs 2 will star a female protagonist in order to gain good press, appear progressive. The base game will be almost identical.

Geez, calm down a couple of kilos :lol No need to be such a prick about it xD You're right, I totally forgot about Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, that was stupid of me, although RE hasn't been the same for quite some time. Never played MH so can't say anything about it. I asked you a normal question about Konami, you don't have to bite my head off for it. I don't know much about Konami's business plans.

You sound like Ubisoft killed your wife or something, chill out. I don't agree with you that Ubisoft is making shitty decisions and shitty games. Well, maybe the DLC and IAP's aren't something I'd get behind any time soon, but still. Far Cry ain't my cup of tea at all but I wouldn't call it or any of their games shitty because of it. Yeah I forgot some paragraphs, I'm terribly sorry about that. Calm down. I was just saying that in my opinion, we're allowed to share those here last I checked, is that while yes, Ubisoft have been acting strangely for quite some time now, from a business and economics perspective, they do seem to be doing better than other considering the amounts of sales they've had and the amount of relevant IP's they put out entries in regularly. But that's just my opinion. No reason to get al freaky over it :lol

What I also don't understand is that everybody is talking about how shitty Ubisoft has become and how horrible they were in 2014.
Then I think about Far Cry 4 which runs well, looks amazing and is a fantastic game. Then I think about Child of Light and Valiant Hearts. Jeah I know there was AC Unity but come on guys.

there was a hell of a lot more than just AC Unity

come on guy

He wins because the Mighty No. 9 will never release ;)

edit: I'm slightly surprised how much there was moneyzzz-talk on this episode right after he was critical with how much weight we put on that when talking about games :)

Bosman is clearly interested in sales, since he brings up NPD even on GTtime quite often.
So that critique was probably self critique/analysis. :P

Just catching up on the last two episodes right now.

The Selma/Taken 3 bit is hilarious and depressing.

And yeah, I love The Goonies, Lord of the Rings, and Sean Astin.

A great yet sad episode this time. I'm really starting to fear for all the good people at GT and other games media sites losing their jobs nowadays, but seeing folks like Jim Sterling and the IGN guys making it on their own calms my fears. If it would ever come to that for Kyle and the GT Crew, they would have my support!

Also, the site I suggested in the 'name a site that ends with a Z that counts'-challenge got in (act.alz.org) lol

He deserves a better spot than game trailers IMO. he talks about his job in almost each episode since the take over from defy. I can hear the uncertainty he has each day he goes into work. Damn man.

Hope that if defy does strip down GT to its name, that either he has links or the self-confidence to try a patreon model (opposed to moving out of the industry)

I just started watching it today, already hooked. Makes me miss the days when me and my friends would do P&P roleplaying.

They did a separate single episode adventure with Christopher Perkins as the DM, it was really good and would be a good starting point.

Obviously features Kyle Bosman or I wouldn't be mentioning it.

Sad to hear things are still rocky at GT, but Kyle is so likeable and talented that I'm sure he could pull off a kickass Youtube channel if he had to :D

I don't feel like he wants to.

I really like the current crew. And Kyle as lonesome cowboy like Jim Sterling wouldn't be so cool IMO. Although Final Bossman is probably their best show, I love GT time and the other stuff. It's fun to watch him and the others interacting with each other. I don't think that content is their problem.

Problem with GT is their website and the video player. You can't really share their videos and their twitch stuff can't even be found on the site.

I understand that switching to youtube would not be without problems, but the current situation holds them down. Gametrailers won't grow, because people are on youtube/twitch today.

German GameOne (Ex Viacom/MTV) recently started their 24/7 Twitch channel after Viacom cancelled their show. Don't know if it will work out for them in the end, but I think a similar model could work for the GT crew too. GT crew could use patreon and use kickstarter to get it started.

Their officespace looks expensive, I assume that LA is not cheap. A house would be enough, integrate all Twitchstreams into the site, put ads on the site, put old stuff on youtube, use patreon, maintain the crew and work with freelancers. That could work IMO. They could also sell/produce shows/reviews for bigger sites.

Haha, nice.
Ahaha that Shadows of Mordor / Giantbomb bit :D
Yeah, I have a coworker who gets his video game news exclusively from Giant Bomb and a couple weeks ago he went on and on about how great Shadow of Mordor looks lol.
Final Bosman is good but right now my favorite thing in all of gaming media entertainment is the D&D tabletop adventures show.
Tabletop Adventures is my jam. It's what I look forward to most every week.

Great episode. It's kind of a bit refreshing to see him talk openly about other outlets and not hold back any punches. And hey MikeD is with GT until April at least :D

It's sad to see Kyle sad though :(

Ahaha that Shadows of Mordor / Giantbomb bit :D

Haha. This cracked me up more than it should have.

I don't think it's a great game either.

It was spoken like a truly bitter Bayonetta 2 fan ;)

This video really came off like he was a guy with his own YouTube channel - with all of those digs at other gaming news outlets. I think Kyle sees the writing on the wall with GT, and at this point is probably just mentally prepping himself for the day that place gets shut down for good. All he'd have to do is exactly what Sterling did - throw up a Patreon and go independent. He'd have an instant following, and it'd be great that he wouldn't have to deal with the GT bullshit anymore (which he has pretty clearly grown tired of),

Oh man, that was good. Sterling shout out, Miner Bosman, batting .1000 on the media calls.

That Damiani passive aggression.

I was expecting him to reevaluate himself and if he should go move to youtube (he probably did in private though)

I really like gametrailers, their content and most of the guys working there. But the format is such an obvious fit for a youtube channel. I think they should make the transition.

Kyle is obviously unhappy what is going on with GT, but I don't think he'll go independent until the ship is at the bottom of the ocean.

I kind of hope that is the case, because they people that are left work so well together on camera that I hope they stick together afterwards too.

I never really connected with the Giant Bomb crew that much. Personally I feel the modern GT team of Kyle, Blood, Ian, Ben, Huber is the best I have seen. (+Damiani RIP in peace)

Great episode. I 'd forgotten that Kyle doesn't necessarilly mince matters. This episode felt particularly genuine.

"I think that these gentlemen are something less than kind of funny."

"If you just went to Giant Bomb, you might mistakenly think that Shadow of Mordor is a great game."

I agree with these two points in particular. lol

I totally forgot about Patreon! I'd definitely contribute a few bucks a month to ensure that he doesn't stop sharing his insights with us.

I hope it doesn't happen because I'd miss Tabletop Adventures, his writing on Mandatory Update (you can pretty much tell the occasionally one liner that was done by Bosman) and GT Time are all excellent.

Now if they could do one that managed to support Kyle, Brandon, Ian, Elyse, Damiani, Ben Moore, Huber and Bloodworth... Then we'd be onto sometime.

That said, if GT folded and they didn't stay together, I would totally chip in for Bosman.

I need to study The Final Bosman rules, but can't seem to find them.

I pointed out that he is super touching his nose in the banner of his video, but he probably edited it out of the actual video. I'd hate to miss out on the rocket show on a technicality!

Tricksy Bosmanses

Another great episode, I wish this guy was more well known in the gaming space he's probably one of the most entertaining guys to watch talk about videogames I have seen and best of all his opinions are always well thought out and explained and amazingly is somehow always nice even when he's taking digs at people, like it never really feels mean spirited or anything.

He did seem kinda pissed about the Damiani thing though.

On the bright side, with Damiani out of the way maybe this is Kyles chance with the girl from the Deli
