Five episodes in and parts of the fanbase are already hating Iris and comparing her to Laurel. No country for love interests outchea.

Arrow will shape up once we get past this murder mystery BS.

Iris is fine, she is nothing like Laurel.

Her fascination with Flash is completely fine to me.

Yeah, outside of not returning Barry's romantic affections and insisting on writing her blog, she hasn't done much besides be a good friend to Barry. And those things aren't even character flaws.

I think people just hate any female character who does not "kick ass" or directly help catch the bad guys.

Well, Barry has never told her that he is in love with her. So it's not really Iris' fault.

How are people just now finding out about Grodd? They showed Grodd's destroyed cage in the first or second episode of the season.

Because it was only a name on a plate and this is the first direct reference that they are progressing further with Grodd than we had thought?

Even though Geoff Johns confirmed it a few weeks ago, people weren't sure if the Grodd thing was an easter egg or straight up confirmation. This is the show making a statement: Grodd's a big player.

Also a bunch of people missed the Grodd cage in the first episode judging by posts earlier in this thread.

I like how Barry was so damn mysterious while talking to Iris that he never broached the subject of WHY she shouldn't be writing about him.

Otherwise, it was good. Barry should really stop taking his mask off in public though.

what/who's grodd without spoiling stuff

One hell of a super villain. Super intelligent, super strong, psionic abilities and one of the few Flash villains who can really throw down with him.

That's in the comics anyway. No idea what the show is going to do with him, but hopefully something similar.

Also Iris has been awesome so far.

Don't know what some of you are smoking, but you should stop. Damaging your brains.

She's smart, funny, and unbelievably hot. She's the best comic TV love interest adaptation since Erica Durance as Lois.

Compared to woe was me Lana and Laurel, yeah she's pretty good. It's more that she didn't have an active role outside of generic love interest for the first four episodes. She didn't even seem to care about journalism until The Flash showed up.

TBF who wouldn't be hyped as hell about a superhero running around your city, and no one else but you really reporting about it?

Couldn't tell if it was just an easter egg earlier. Just a surprise it's this early.

Other than Johns comments, which I'm sure most people missed, the stinger is pretty much the same as the busted cage in my eyes. I took the cage as a sign they were going there just the same as this stinger. Easter egg stuff is typically either quick/vague references in dialogue or stuff that's fairly well hidden in the background. That shot in the first ep very clearly showed the busted cage and the name plate, so it struck me as more than an easter egg right off the bat. The only question in my mind is "when" rather than "if."

I really hope they don't keep Iris in the dark much longer. I get they need to ramp up the drama, but I think we get the picture now.

And any excuse about "protecting" her (which is a comic book trope I reeeeeeeeeeeeally hate) is out the window now that she's publicly linked herself to "The Streak".

I watched X-Men: Days of Future Past today so I think Quicksilver kind of ruined The Flash for me. Or maybe that was just a bad episode. Eh.

Cisco was great though <3

I just can't imagine them doing CGI Grodd well on a TV budget, not even as good as the special effects on this show have been for TV. I hope they prove me wrong.

Doing Grodd in the first season, though... seems like they might be playing their cards too fast.

Season two Big Bad.

CGI mo-capped by Manu Bennett of course.

They might as well promote Caitlin. She's the best they've got.

More importantly, The Flash has cast
Jason Rusch, the better Firestorm.
Huzzah.

Aren't we supposed to spoiler tag casting announcements like that? I think Cornballer usually lets the actor's name slide but the character they're playing is put behind tags.

Sepinwall points out the biggest problem with Iris in his review: the show has no good reason for keeping her in the dark about Barry. Tonight's issue could have been solved by Barry going "Yo, I'm The Streak. Chill on the blog because there are others like me out there and most so far have been criminals and I don't want them to target you. Also, I think The Flash is a better name than The Streak."

Instead he chose to be all mysterious and actually made things worse by (tbf, unintentionally) getting Iris to start posting under her real name.

I do think it will work itself out though as she assumes her role of "Lois-Lite." I think they'll have her find out before the season is over. Beginning of next season at the latest.

oh shit grodd? im stilling liking arrow more than flash but damn its getting close at this point.

is the gotham show good like these 2?

I love that they did the running a bomb over water scene, something I suggested to a friend as an idea for a season finale, in their fifth episode.

This show delivers.

yeah, I feel like there's no good actual reason for Iris not to know

other than the fact that it's expected that the love interest in a superhero show can't know the secret identity for some reason

he has essentially torpedoed that friendship for no reason

it's not going to make her stop, clearly. he knows this.

it's just a really stupid plot point. If they drag this shit out to Smallville levels of "oh no! no one must know my secret!" when multiple people already know his secret and it would make things EASIER if people in his life knew his secret, I might just bail. It's so annoying.

God damn I love Joe so much! I just love how it feels natural the way he and Barry talk to each other and react. He's not always the "Barry this is a bad idea I don't want you being a hero" asshole or scolding him over and over again. Him laughing his ass off when Barry changed his voice was just soooo good. I never see that kind of reaction on TV. Normally they'd have Joe just do a "REALLY?" look and not say anything as he walks out of the room.

Oh, and Clancy Brown is so boss. He's GOAT Luthor.
