The Flash |OT| Gotta Go Fast - Tuesdays 8/7c

If Wells is stuck in the present, how does he contact future Reverse Flash and tell him he needs the tachyon device?

Future RF knows that he needs it because he got it in the past. This seems like a straightforward predestination paradox. i.e "and when I get the time travel device I'll go back in time and give myself the time travel device"

The thing I'm most interested in is why he needs Barry to disappear in the Crisis in the future. Is that the act that inspired him to copy the Flash and thus it needs to happen for him to exist as he does? It doesn't seem like the entire universe depends on Barry, since that newspaper that said the crisis ended existed even when Barry had lost his powers.

Edit: Actually, I just went and watched the scene where Wells looks at the future newspaper when Barry has no powers. In the first two shots it says "Red Skies Threaten..." and "Waynetech/Queen merger falls through" but in the third shot (for the same date) it says "Red Skies Vanish" and that the merger is complete. So I'm guessing that was just an error with the graphics where they didn't change the headline for the third shot.

So he probably does just need Barry to be a hero to save his future.

I mean okay sure, there's still plenty of room for them to do something interesting with it. But I was hoping Wells wouldn't just straight up be Reverse Flash

Thinking about the show i have some theories and/or predictions.

Prediction 1.
Catlin with the help of Cisco will try and create something to save Ronnie and since Ronnie's power is fire, Cisco might create something using ice. Accident happens and Catlin becomes Killer Frost.

Prediction 2.
Wally West shows up in the second season and gets speed powers in the mid season finale. becomes Impluse

Prediction 3.
Firestorm joins Star Labs to help stop/save Catlin
.

Prediction 4.
Dr. Wells dies in either season 1 or 2, but the Reverse Flash still exists.

Prediction 5.
Barry goes MIA at the end of season 2 and Wally becomes the Flash for season 3.

Unless they improved First Light's gameplay from Second Son a whole bunch, SRIV soundly beats it for the super hero experience.

Problem with Flash is he'd need a huge map due to how fast he traverses. And big maps tend to be empty maps.

I make this suggestion every time a "Let's Make a Superman Game" thread pops up and the suggestion holds true for the Flash. Make the game episodic. This gets you around several problems. It minimizes map size limitation the map only needs to be big enough for the episode. It removes chaff encounters with enemies well below Flash's power level (i.e. that cancelled game footage, why does it take multiple hits to put down a goon?). Each episode is basically a boss fight centered around a rogue (a-la Shadow of the Colossus).

I know people love to hate the drama elements, but Barry unloading his feelings to Iris was like university all over again for me. I know that feeling, that dread, when you know there's no chance of anything ever happening, and you admit your feelings not because of hope that she might feel the same, but because you've reached a point where you can't look at her without starting to panic. All the while knowing that admitting it isn't going to make you feel better, but is probably going to make things worse between the two of you. You're damned either way.

Wonderfully cathartic scene, and really well acted by Gustin.

that whole sequence from the prison-talk straight to that was fantastic imo. really glad they got that all out of the way.

Yeah, it was good that he finally just went ahead and did it.

Does this mean Iris is gonna develop feelings for him naturally or are they gonna turn Eddie into a jerk?

I loved how even Barry's dad knew haha. Probably without ever seeing Iris in person (or at least the grown up Iris). Barry must have been talking about her one time and seen a glint in his eye. A fucking glint is all it takes haha.

Although, if you've ever seen someone hanging out with someone they're in love with, it's pretty obvious.

This means that both Barry's dad and Iris will know Barry is Flash by the end of the season.

What an amazing episode! I'm in love with this show, I'd honestly never thought it'd be this good. The pacing is incredible... one minute you're watching Iris and Barry talking to each other, the next one you're seeing Reverse Flash making his debut. I also can't wait to see where the Firestorm storyline is heading. I read some stuff on him and he sounds like a pretty interesting character.

Somebody ripped off Static Jam's style on Tumblr, but I ain't hating it:

I hope I'm wrong but my guess would be that...
Barry moves on.. probably starts a thing with Caitlin after she gives up hope that Firestorm will ever come back. Once Barry's moved on, Iris will start having lowkey feelings for him while Eddie becomes more and more obsessed with hunting down Flash and all other Meta's. Then Iris will confess her feelings to Barry while still being with Eddie and Firestorm will show up out of the blue seeking Caitlin, having come to grips with his new situation. Bam. Love Pentagon, CW style.

Really loving this show now. Has to be one of the only superhero shows where I'm more interested in the people than the hero. This was really well casted. And the writing is top notch imo.

OH SHIT FIRESTORM JUST FUCKING TOOK OFF FLYING

sorry but he did!

The other one is him... from the future? The Wells we know is from before he traveled back in time and the other RF is him from after he does it.

I have no idea. I'm just guessing.

The Flash can move so fast he can appear to be two places at once. That could be what Reverse Flash was doing here.

ok so Reverse Flash was amazing, and we got fucking Firestorm flying

can I please have my talking gorilla now? please?

I think it's pretty clear that Eddie will be involved in all of it. Why would reverse flash kill every cop but him and look straight at him? So there's way more to the final scene I don't think it's clear cut who it is

I havent read the comics but to me Eddie Thawrne (sp?) is the Reverse Flash that was punching Wells. If that was Wells it would make no sense to punch himself from the past and why kill every cop except Eddie? Also Wells made a big point of saying Eddie's last name there.

Then there's a second Reverse Flash which is wells. My guess is that the two Reverse Flash are from different futures, Wells being from further out and future Eddie from a not too distant future where he lost Iris and wants revenge on Barry/Flash for it, making him pay by hurting his family.

I think they already confirmed that was coming in the second half.

oh I know he's coming, but we dont know how theyll do it (telepathy or something). I want my talking gorilla damn it.

Theory: By the end of the season Barry gets Iris to break up with Eddie as well as get the police force to trust The Flash making Eddie look like a fool and end up with nothing. Eddie finds out Barry is The Flash and Spider-Man 3 style ends up hating him and wishes he could destroy him. Wells catches him in this vulnerable moment and offers him a plan he knows will work: he offers Eddie to become the Reverse-Flash and deal Barry the hurt that Barry dealt him. Wells then sends Eddie back in time multiple times in order to ensure everything is in place. Season finale: The Flash vs. The Man in Yellow travel back in time and fight it out Flashpoint style.

Boom. Greatest season of superhero television ever.

Doing anything "Spider Man 3 style" automatically negates it from being Greatest anything ever.

Hype-as-fuck. That episode was awesome. Alot of genuinely well done scenes that really got to me. Detective West and Barry's relationship is just really sweet.

Eddie seems like too much of a good guy for this. If he turns on Flash it will have to be caused by something really drastic, not Barry taking his gil.

We already see that he has an obsession with stopping the Flash. It's only going to get worse and the inevitable breakup with Iris is going to push him further over the edge. It's only a matter of time.

Maybe if Iris was like "Im hoppin on that Flash weiner, c ya loser" and then she firestorm.gif's away.

Eddie done already peeped the signs. Even if he thinks he and Iris are safe for now, I doubt he'd be too torn up over Barry getting with her given that he's already aware of the attraction. Or at least, not so torn up that he'd become Reverse Flash 2.0.

Nah. It's Good Guy Eddie. If they turn him it will be something drastic, like Flash fucking up and causing some true damage. Or I can see Wells manipulating him by showing that Flash will cause something catastrophic if he's not stopped.

They really set up Eddie was a very stand up guy. Which will make his fall a lot more interesting, but this fall will need to be properly explained.

Yeah, of course something is going to make him snap but in the meantime we get to see him getting darker. His breakup with Iris probably won't be it but it'll definitely help.
