Is there anyone in the UK with Sky that can check what on channel 408?
It went live this morning, but is it anything worth while or just ads?

All their adverts stated the channel goes live the 9th of March.

Edit, just checked on Sky Go and there is no 408 channel there, I'll check again when I get home.

Well the actual programming starts on 9th of march, but the channel is showing up on my Sky phone app.

I assume they are just showing ads/promotions until the 9th - but I was hoping for a bit more :p

I've been hearing about it for a while, but this is the first decent picture I've seen. Mercedes seem to have a mini double-diffuser (below the light).

haha, thanks for the detail Kova:
@H_Kovalainen: "Wow what a night not been sick like this for a long time... both ends like no tomorrow! Not sure what I picked up and where but not nice..."

Stick a pivot in his hip and watch him go like a catherine wheel.

the mclaren seems pretty fast, i think they are going to be the team to beat this year.

I do hope that there isn't just one dominant team all season. Although that said, if there *is*, Maclaren would at least mean there's two very competitive, very different drivers in the same car.

On the changing race times matter. Are there numbers available to us, that show the TV audiences on each of the GPs? Worldwide kind of thing.

Button doesn't seem to have done many laps today. What's he up to?

According to some people, they are testing new parts, so they will not do as many laps like they did on previous tests. Short stints with quite lengthy breaks are good indication of this.

lol @ everyone getting angry at Bernie. It's his typical brinkmanship. Public banter between Ron Walker and Bernie is an annual tradition in the world of F1 politics.

Didnt Ferrari used a traffic light system for a while?
But they gave up with it after it caused a few early/late releases

I don't understand why the lollipop guy needs that much information.

I would just call that a complex beam wing because it doesn't do the same thing a diffuser does (expand a volume of air).

The beam wing is above the light. I'm talking about the diffuser - below the light.

Ah, I see what you're talking about now. Those arrows confused me. That hole definitely looks interesting but I wouldn't call it a double diffuser in the traditional sense.

Besides, I'm far more interested in Ferrari's new trim piece above the diffuser. Everybody else uses a conventional gurney flap so this is a bold departure from the norm.

It more or less cost them the 2008 Driver's Championship.

They had to switch it to manual when the cars lined up after the infamous crash.. so it was a human error not the system's.. they chose to drop it because the championship reached a very critical point where no margin for errors could be afforded anymore

So Barrichello's off to IndyCar, really happy for him, but it's a a shame he didn't get a proper send off in F1.

He brought that upon himself.. do you think if he landed a drive for this year he would've chose to retire at the end? That is the only ending Rubens was going to have it was just a matter of time

EDIT: nothing against Rubens, he's a very entertaining character and one of the nicest drivers F1 have ever seen

Yes, he wanted 20 years and to be honest I can't say I blame him. It would have been one hell of a milestone.

Ouch.. did he ever say that? in that case I feel so sorry for him now.. poor guy

Lotus fastest end of day! I'll try not to get too excited... But it seems like Lotus is seeking some attention these days. So many press releases, so much talk about Kimi, and trying to be on the top of the time sheets for headlines..

reminds me of Williams in 2009

True, but I still think it would've been far less likely to happen if the decision to release came from a lollipop man standing right in front of the car.

If my theory is correct, Mclaren better train its pit crews really well.

I'm guessing that the "red" gun is connected to the new light system and it uses a pressure-sensitive grip to trigger the red/green light for that corner of the car.

Caterham testing a cooling vent similar to what the RB7 had last year...

**snip**

That vent is hilariously big!

So got home and check channel 408 on sky & just seems to be running previews of whats to come on the channel for the next week or so.
As much as I hate Sky, I cant wait for this channel to start :D

I have a feeling someone used something similar last year. Can't remember who, but I've seen something like that before.

Here's what it does:

I'm hoping Lotus can fight with Mercedes & who knows about Ferrari.

P.S. I see that after suffering my initiation I am now a "Member" whatever that does? Ohhh, NeoGAF Gold is now visible.

McLarens downwashed exhaust appears to still overheat the inner edge of the rear tyre, its looks shrivelled & flies off bit

Could cause some issues for McLaren if they don't find a solution to this.

I wonder how Clarkson will approach the interview. If he's not careful, it'll end up as a series of questions with one word answers, then a look at Kimi's lap and then finish.

Just have the Stig do the interview with Kimi. More words would be exchanged I'd bet.
