Speaking of GAF team, which f1 fantasy league are we doing? f1racemanager is pretty dull.
Yeah, unbelievably slow to use, and took ages to update.

Alternatives:

http://www.gpupdatemanager.net --> top prize: drive an F1 car
http://www.f1-forecast.com/ --> top prize: tickets for a 2013 race
http://www.fantasyf1sport.com/ --> almost identical to the one used last year, but fast(er)
http://www.f1manager.info/ --> also similar

Though I guess it depends on which one Autosport uses ?

I haven't tried these before, but I took a quick look and I like the ability to choose 4 drivers rather than the usual 2 with fantasyf1sport. The point spread they hand out is quite odd though. With f1-forecast you just guess the top qualifying and race results rather than build a team. I like that system too. Does anyone have actual experience with any of these?

That HRT is a really nice looking livery, even though sponsors would actually make it look better. I guess it's better than having "YOU" plastered everywhere.

It's about on par with the STR for the best looking livery (not necess. car) in the paddock:

http://www.f1-forecast.com/ seems really dull
http://www.fantasyf1sport.com/ seems similar on first glace but with only 2% selling penalty it will be a lot less strategic
http://www.gpupdatemanager.net generally seems fairly similar to the current one, some differences here and there
http://www.f1manager.info/ seems like a mess

imo the only one worth considering would be http://www.gpupdatemanager.net

And this, sadly low res but still suitable for photoshopping your own face on (not that I've done that at all):

Don't care about Webber, but dude loves his exclusive porsches (GT2 RS, GT3 RS 4.0). Can't think of another F1 driver who is so into sports cars.

A company phone was lost and found, with written exchanges between Fry and some other employee(s). Hamilton was refered to as a ''n-word'', and fry joined Ferrari shortly after...

He's the most "everyman" driver in the field. I think it's an Aussie (though not exclusive, obviously) thing, too... I bet you'd find Ricciardo, should he have a long future in F1, wouldn't be too different in a few years time. I mean, look at Stoddart. Despite being an owner of a backmarker team, was very involved and vocal with the running of F1.

Fry only started at Ferrari last year....I would give him some time and see if they can get the car up to speed. Domenacali though has had enough time, he has been in charge since 2008 and only won 1 championship, that's just as bad as mclaren. He is too nice, should have never agreed to revert back to the old rules after silverstone last year.

For this season, I will be posting results from the current fantasy league site, but if anyone wants to try other sites, please feel free to do so and let us know how it goes. The more people trying alternatives the easier it should be to decide if we should move on to a different site in the future. If we do, I'll post results from that one from now on.

Ferrari really worries me. I'd hate to see another 2011 season.

I think this year is Dominicali's last chance. He got everything he asked for, and its his 5th year, by this time Todt&Co started their domination. If he doesn't win a championship this year I don't think he's staying, let alone not having a competitive car

I think Ferrari are sandbagging big time, they quit FOTA because they wanted to spend and I'm sure they did. and in F1, if you spend, you get results (bar Toyota)

Just cause you spend money does not mean you will be the best car. McLaren & Ferrari both prove this each year - So did Honda, BMW & Toyota.

And i really doubt Ferrari are sandbagging, its very hard to hide a cars true pace & even harder with the limited winter testing.
They may not be as bad as some people are making out (5th or 6th best) but they will not be fighting for 1st place come the first race - unless they bring some major upgrades between now & mebourne.

But I do hope you are right, nothing better than seeing what people beleive to be a bad car qualifying first! :p

so all those Ferrari's in the pics are they like all built as crash backups? Why have so many prebuilt. Are there engines in them? Why are there tires on them instead of movable jacks?

Or are they test model variations? I see different types of tires on some of them.

Very cool pic for me an outsider to see though.

They are the past Ferrari F1 cars.

I'm not completely sure, but those could be the cars they use for their F1 Clienti programme.

Racing with the Hamiltons: Nic in the Driving Seat

Airs today on BBC2 at 10:35pm.
In 2011, 19-year old Nic Hamilton dreamed of following his brother Lewis in to motor racing. But as well as the pressure of being a Hamilton and never having raced a car in his life, Nic also has a disability that had him using a wheelchair until he was 16.This powerful and intimate film follows the family as they try to help Nic achieve his dream. With unprecedented access we see Nic embark on a season that will determine whether he has what it takes to make a career of his own in the glamorous and dangerous world of motorsport.

Non-UK viewers know the drill with BBC documentaries by now.

If he has even half the talent of Lewis then he'll have a thoroughly good career in motorsport.

I don't agree with you. If Honda didn't withdraw they would've stormed the field in 2009. It is assumed that the BGP 001 was the most expensive car in the field that year. As for BMW, they were achieving their goals for each year, it was only 2009 that they couldn't make it. And I would add that they hardly spent anything near Ferrari and McLaren

Redbull spent money = Redbull is doing well

Its all about money, or mostly about money, and it's not like Ferrari don't know how to win!

I say they're sandbagging (I hope I'm wrong)

you need money to be at the front but just because you have money you won't be at the front

The Barcelona Ferrari is nowhere near the podium, but that doesn't mean they can't do something about it till Melbourne... just think McL last year

Honda were in the sport for 3 years, with some of the biggest budgets ever seen in formula 1 - yes they may have won eventually but then it would have taken them 4 years.

Im not saying a team could spend 200m & still be back of the grid, but money does not gaunrentee success. McLaren & Ferrari probably have bigger budgets than Red Bull, but still cant beat them.

Ferrari still has the highest budget in F1, HRT the lowest .

Not necessarily. Teams complained about Redbull's spendings last year. Which means that teams are doubting that Redbull is spending beyond the RRA, plus, Redbull are bigger than McLaren & Ferrari (correct me if I'm wrong)

not to get lost in details, without money there's no success. let me rephrase, without having a top team spending power you could never win a title

More sandbagging.

A long season ahead to recover - Domenicali

I don't remember Ferrari ever admitting they're so bad before a season

We'll see how this works out. In the meantime there's still f1racemanager.

Are we doing this one instead of f1racemanager?
or both?
