That's what I was thinking the other day when he spoke to the media. He almost alluded to it.

Anyway, a great race! The 3 top drivers were all superb.

Entertaining race, Hami defended 2nd pos. well enough from Webber, still I can't find out what went wrong, I mean all weekend pre race the Macs were much better cars than the rest, in race they were not !!
The RB7 is still a faster car than the Mclaren.

Just saw the replay of the Petrov/Schumi incident. Pretty disgraceful.

Was it because he is black?

Webber's sigh at the post-race :lol

Was he really held back by Hamilton?

PS. Hamilton clearly looking really depressed. Bit of a shit question he was asked, too.

hamilton should seriously get over him self, sure your disapointed your not first but come the fuck one. He should be happy about how mclaren closed the gap to red bull.

anyhow great drive from vettel and webber, i agree with webber about the bad descision to take him in the pits with hamilton.

They should have let him extend the lead on the track.

Best thing he has done in his life, it is always like this, whenever you have an amazing athlete who goes dim, it is always the pussy the pussies fault!!!

If anyone can still do clean laps on older tyres, it's him. And again, it's shit luck that puts Webber on the back foot.

seriously the more i think about it, the reason why redbull wants to pit webber at the same time with hamilton was because they don't want mark to catch up to vettel and there might be a chance them two will end up crashing like in turkey last year, all they need from this race is 1st and 3rd and that was all they need to wrap up the constructor championship.

Yeah, it may be a bit harsh.

They definitely need to get rid of that other rule which allows you to park your car BEFORE even finish the race. According to the rule book, completing 90 percent of the race is enough to be classified. So if for example only 10 drivers are still in the race, after 90 percent of the race you've technically completed the race and you can park your car and still collect points for "finishing 10th", which is nonsense.

Too little too late, and the gap will most likely be right back where it was come Melbourne, with Mclaren playing catch up again for the entirety of 2012.

I'm honestly more surprised Lewis isn't more depressed than he is. I really do think he was having discussions with Red Bull earlier this year, as was rumored. Not sure why he's still not signed a new contract now though as there's no where else for him to go.

Are you serious? You don't think that they'd rather he finish second so he comes second in the points at the end of the year?

If he did break up with his girl recently, he should be cut some slack.

It's unlikely Webber could've really caught up with Vettel either way, but the driver's championship is over. If the team tells Webber to maintain a gap he has no reason to argue. It was just a bad call that had to be made very, very quickly.

did u even watch the race? webber was catching fast on both hamilton and vettel on the suppose slower tyre and if hamilton pitted he would have clear room to catch vettel. OK say my assumption is wrong, tell me why they have to pit webber at the same time as hamilton and tell me why webber was so disappointed (pissed) at the conference? and he would have a a better chance of a 2nd place if red bull left him out there when hamilton pitted, but they didn't and why was that?

It's more than obvious he has personal problems that have nothing to do with Formula 1.

Not only that, but when Vettel looked disappointed with second or third place on a podium a few races ago because he didn't win, you applauded his winners mentality, but Hamilton has to get over himself?

It's all gone downhill since he parted with his father. Also with Ron Dennis gone and Norbert Haug at Mercedes, his support network is lacking.

Some cross pollination.

Casey Stoner wins MotoGP world championship.

Honda's first title since Valentino's departure to Yamaha and Honda vowing that Vale would never win another title.

The WRC is much closer and will probably go to the wire.

My money's on Loeb.

So, the final list of motosport champions may well end up like this.

F1 - Sebastien Vettel
MotoGP - Casey Stoner
WRC - Sebastien Loeb
Le Mans - Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer, Benoît Tréluyer and the Audi R18 TDI
WSBK - Carlos Checa
WTCC - Yvan Muller
DTM - Martin Tomczyk
Nascar - Carl Edwards
IRL - Dario Franchitti

Congrats to Casey Stoner, totally dominant year :)

Woke up at 6am to watch Vettel cruise to victory yet again, at least this is the last early get-up of the year. Congrats to RBR for the WCC all the same.

Mirrors Vettel in F1; rarely troubled and comfortably beating his teamates.

They managed to get to half of crashed RBR front wing in Monza and now they will use it as baseline for 2012 front wing....

No, I didn't watch it.

Front wings are only effective if they compliment your own chassis though. Just because it works for Red Bull, doesn't necessarily mean it'll work for you.

It's expensive but I'm considering in doing this sometime in the future (when I can drive).

You get to drive an old F1 car, albeit nerfed.

It's the closest mere mortals like us can get to driving the real thing.

Also since it's my 22nd birthday coming up I'm considering in going go-karting, haven't been since I was a young lad. Probably go to Buckmore Park since it's not too far away.

Who did Doohan ride for back in the day? I think he was our last bikes champion. Given I don't pay much attention to the cycles, was/is Stoner like a mature-age Vettel?

Edit: Fuck, you answered that already. It's like I don't even read your posts anymore, just quote them :(

It's been too long since I last paid attention to the WRC. The only names I recognise are Loeb (obv.), Hirvonen... actually, I recognise a few. Scratch that. But I don't even know what manufacturers are in it nowadays. When I last watched it was Scooby vs. Mitsubishi vs. Ford vs. Citroen vs Peugeot.

There are only 3, Citroen, Ford, and Mini. WRC is in a sad state these days.

Awesome. Now I just need to justify to myself buying that.

That's pretty great. Would love to try that; if I had a spare £1600 laying around. Seems like a really good day out.

But this part made me laugh;
The development continues, next you'll drive seven un-paced laps in the single seater followed by 10 laps in the stunning Formula 3 single seater before 10 mind-blowing laps in the awesome 1996 Italian Forte Corsa or 1994 Arrows.

These cars, once driven by Luca Badoer and Aguri Suzuki are now yours to live the dream.
This is still my highlight of the year so far.

Most memorable part of 2011 for me, as well as Canada this year too.

That entire weekend was just pure excellence.

Full of ups and downs and emotionally draining at times. The crashes were terrifying to behold and I really thought I was witnessing something horrible. I think we all did when following the Le Mans thread. The twilight parts of the race were just stunningly beautiful and the thrilling climax just topped off one of the best Le Mans of the past decade. Plus, the Audi was terrific looking.

With Toyota joining the fray next season... well, things can only get better.

Which is quite sad, since it has such a lovely history.
WRC was one of my favourite sports back when. Now I find myself not really following it, even though I love watching the drivers at work.
