I'm invited to join a driver as passenger at a trackday at Circuit Zolder today, looking forward to that alot.
Be sure to post impressions when you get back. Zolder's often overlooked because of Spa, but it's actually really good circuit in its own right.

Full of ups and downs and emotionally draining at times. The crashes were terrifying to behold and I really thought I was witnessing something horrible. I think we all did when following the Le Mans thread. The twilight parts of the race were just stunningly beautiful and the thrilling climax just topped off one of the best Le Mans of the past decade. Plus, the Audi was terrific looking.

With Toyota joining the fray next season... well, things can only get better.

Don't forget about Porsche ;)

hamilton has been like this for 5 or 6 races

If him breaking up with Nicole is true, that's more than a good enough 'excuse' considering the rocky two/three years he's already had, I imagine everything is just crashing down at once.

Don't want to read too much into it, but... :(

Missed the race again, gonna watch it now. Unfortunately my brother spoiled the results for me.

e: Is it worth watching or is the forum enough?

Hopefully he'll be able to sort himself out during the off-season, but it's really, really unfortunate to see Lewis so down beat :(

Awesome. Now I just need to justify to myself buying that.

That's pretty great. Would love to try that; if I had a spare £1600 laying around. Seems like a really good day out.
It's definitely something I'll have to do sometime in the future.

I know it's a lot of money, but it would be a great experience.

It was a good race, but knowing the result always makes races seem boring to me :(

It makes it a bit boring, but I still want to know how it happened, so it's not a big deal. And the BBC intro was just great. Really, really great.

Wow, seriously? That's... um... really, really sad. I knew Subaru had pulled out a few years back but didn't realise so many others had followed suit. Such a shame :(

It was amazing, first thought it was going to be in a roadcar, but it was actually a stripped out BMW E36 with an 6 in line engine with +200bhp on slicks. The sound was brutal and the acceleration was just phenomenal.

It's just amazing how much grip that thing had and how hard the brakes bite when the driver used them.

I've been to Zolder before, but never in a racecar. The hill where Villeneuve had his accident is just an amazing sensation, it really feels like a rollercoaster

We pretty much raced against a Porsche GT3 and it was really close sometimes.

I have pics and a video from incar, I'll upload them later today. :)

Seeing how Button is all cute with Jessica probably doesn't help.
Poor Lewis holding pillow during the night, when Jenson tearing down next door hotel room with Jessica. I would be very depressed :D In 70s, Lewis would drive drunk as stone today :D

I really wish we could listen to the team radios over the race.

Jenson already has the better GF anyway. :D

The McLaren cars looked flying in qualifying, but was struggling from the start in the actual race. A bit of a shame we didn't get to see a battle for the win, but the Webber and Hamilton fight was pretty good. That was some clinical defensive driving from Hamilton paired with a few Schumacher maneuvers (creative use of the one move while defending rule).

Hamilton looks torn apart emotionally. It's sad to see and I hope the dude gets some support all around.

Volkswagen is joining the fray soon. I feel it's not as good as 10-15 years ago (the cars don't seem as ferocious nowadays), but this year the championship has been interesting. I'm also looking forward to see Ogier's evolution in the near future.

Tense race, enjoyed the full distance battle between 2nd, 3rd & 4th.

Brundles commentary at points was hilarious, surprised that no-one else caught the Massa accident references that came from both Brundle and Coulthard during the race, either it was a running joke between them about fitting in these references, or the incident has been a topic of conversation between them over the weekend.

Brundle: "Felipe Massa, With a face full of F1 car..." - (As the camera shot from in-car shows Felipe pulling up towards another car)

Coulthard: "...came off that corner like a coiled spring..."

They were subtle however.

It really was a great race and I enjoyed watching it. Vettel got the win handed to him, but I didn't care, because for the 2nd-4th place were amazing to watch. Very depressing race for Fernando, as Massa clearly held him back, but I won't blame Felipe for that. He drove his race, he was motivated after qualifying and there were no team orders, he did well for that. Seeing Alonso catching up after the pit stop was pretty impressive, though.

When isn't it worth watching?

Just finished the race. Utterly amazing - Webber and Hammy were going all out. They had some FANTASTIC racing through the middle section on that one lap, side-by-side the entire time, my heart was in my mouth.

It was good to see Webber doing so well. I was hoping Button might join them and really push both, but alas not.

If Alonso's "I give up" was because of Massa then he should just shut the fuck and out qualify him, shouldn't he? If you're not a good enough driver to pass him then don't throw your toys out of the car. You're clearly faster than him, so get past him. I've not watched the post-show/Forum yet so that's purely going on the DC/Brundle speculation.

Edit: Red Bull montage with RATM was sooo good.

I'm watching the post-race interview with Fernando and he's not complaining about Massa, said that he wasn't that much quicker at this time. True or not, he obviously doesn't blame Felipe.

It reminded me of our F1 2010 days. Was brilliant. It shows Webber has amazing driving skill, but I really wish he just had more raw pace :(

How in the world did you reach that conclusion? He was just chasing Button as fast as he could but never truly catching up to him.

His 'I give up' message came two laps from the end of the race, he had no chance of taking Button unless he made a catastrophic mistake on those final two laps.

How I came to that conclusion is in that very post you quoted.

I said it was based purely on DC/Brundle speculation.

Watching Indycar finale and touching tyres at 220 mph is pretty wild. Franchitti is going to win another championship. Poor American open wheel, holy shit half the field just crashed out!

Looks like 12-15 cars involved.
