I like the layout, looks like it could be fun to drive on this track.

The area looks boring and unremarkable though. Not what I expected when I heard NY race. I imagined something like the PGR NY track lol

What is being said is that they won't be able to finance a Grand Prix in Montreal with another one so close (most of the tourists come from the NY region). It's not slashed for NY, but it will die by itself because of it.

If anything having the two races so close might draw MORE people I would think. If they are weekend after weekend I will probably just attend BOTH instead of just the NJ one.

Indianapolis made the attendance drop in Canada. Now with 2 us grand prix, I fear for its future.

What are the safety concerns with the current nose heights we have? Why do they need to lower them for next year?

To prevent another accident like Webber had at Valencia last year.

Overreactions, and power plays are to be expected. Especially if they're needing to re-up after '13.

I would like to see some competition between all three of them though. NYC's hotel prices are permanently jacked, but I'll bet you anything it'll end up being the cheapest race to go to.

We need some market correction.

Im probably being stupid here, but how was that crash caused by the nose of the car?
Surely that crash was caused by webbers wheels going over the other cars wheels?

Webber's nose hit the rear tyre causing it to lift the car upwards.

I swear, Scarbs is some kind of genius. Does he have a history in design or motorsport or something? His knowledge is out of this world.

His description of himself.
My name is Craig Scarborough, I’m a freelance journalist\illustrator who focuses solely on the Technology of F1.

I have followed the sport since the late seventies and have covered F1′s technical developments since 2000.

Although I am not a permanently accredited member of the F1 media, I attend tests, launches and some races. I am in touch with the teams ,their Technical Directors\Designers and a whole host of other engineers related to the sport. In terms of in depth technical knowledge, illustration and photography, I have few peers.

My work has been published on the Web, in Print and on TV. My work has been mentioned during BBC F1 broadcasts and copied by less scrupulous journalists.

I manage this Blog and my Twitter feed on a part time basis, as I continue to hold down a full time job outside of F1. In my efforts to move into a full time role in F1 media, I am seeking additional publishers for my work.

The magazines he's contributed to:

F1Racing magazine
Motorsport Magazine
Racecar Engineering Magazine
RaceTech Magazine
Race Engine Technology Magazine
F1 Race Technology Magazine
F1i magazine
Clubs1 Magazine

Did anyone else end up watching the entire press conference for the NJ race? It was so funny. An endless stream of ass kissing of various dignitaries before the Governor got up. He was actually pretty good, and dealt with the one big detractor pretty well. The whole time they were playing up NJ. Then Matchett gets up. He says people will drop the family members who don't want to watch the race off in NYC and then come to the race, to the shock and horror of the small town mayors who want the people coming to THEIR town instead of visiting whatever that city across the river is called.

That's incredible that he can put so much effort into the technical analysis (both graphical and word...ical), afford time to go to tests etc. AND hold down a full time job.

I really should pay more attention to his blog moreso than just when it's linked to here.

Yes, he's a great asset to the F1 community.

What the fuck were they thinking? Did they even think? How the hell did that pass?

The circuit isn't finished, the track is dirty (the safety car did some laps today and was sliding all over the place), power outages and now this.

And btw it appears they only sold 60% of the tickets so far. This is Turkey Part III.

I bet Codemasters had something to do with this. Sounds like their work.
Maybe they finished designing the track and its facilities and forgot the windows in the commentary boxes or just placed them somewhere, because they didn't have time to find a good spot for them.

But whatever it was, you can be sure it will be fixed next year.

What if they only get two chances to fix things? They might have to end up.. spending money!

What the fuck is this shit? Bernie doesn't even give a fuck about the track, as long as he gets paid, does he?

You can't expect people to install windows and play Football Manager 2012 and Forza 4 in the office at the same time. Codemasters Birmingham have their priorities.

That's a fucking joke. They'll need the pit commentators to be their eyes more than usual.
